In honor of Veteran’s Day, The Ashley is excited to bring you this list of reality TV stars that are also military veterans! These people risked their lives (not to mention gave up time with their friends and family) to serve our country, so it’s only right that we honor them over here on The Roundup!

I’m sure I’m forgetting quite a few reality TV stars that are veterans…feel free to add them in the comments section!

Dr. Andy Baldwin (Former ‘Bachelor’) US Navy

In The Ashley’s opinion, Andy Baldwin was the perfect pick to be the ‘Bachelor’ because he had it all: good looks, intelligence (he graduated magna cum laude from Duke!) and is a US Naval Officer and doctor. (Kind of puts ol’ Brad Womack to shame, no?) Andy now works at the Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital in California, but is currently in Kenya delivering babies and saving lives, as you do.

J.R. Martinez (Dancing With the Stars) US Army

J.R. is appearing on the current season of ‘Dancing’ and is such an inspiration. He served in the US Army and went to Iraq in February of 2003. A month later, the Humvee he was in hit a landmine and caught fire, resulting in J.R. receiving burns over nearly half of his body. These days, J.R. is foxtrotting over on ABC, showing many wounded vets that life can go on. READ MORE »

Fall is upon us which means two things: The Ashley gets to bust out her amazing collection of winter coats and….all of her favorite reality TV shows are starting again! Although Teen Mom and Bachelor Pad have kept The Ashley entertained over the summer, she can’t wait to see the new seasons of all of the other reality shows!

Viewers Want Kelly Kapowski on ‘Dancing With the Stars!’

I know her name isn’t Kelly Kapowski, but Tiffani Thiessen will always be Bayside High School’s head cheerleader to me. (The Ashley has an intense obsession with the show Saved by the Bell and there’s no one who can beat her in trivia. Go ahead and try, you won’t stump her.)

Anyway, Tiffani is one of five or six stars that have been rumored to be appearing on the next season of Dancing With the Stars.

Snooki from the Jersey Shore is also rumored to be doing the show next season. (I can’t wait to see her do the “Venereal Disease Waltz!”) Queen Latifah, Mike Tyson, Rob Kardashian and some chick that used to date George Clooney have also been said to have signed up. However, Snooki, Tiffani and the Queen have all denied on their Twitters that they are appearing on the show, so who knows?

Access Hollywood asked their viewers who they would most like to see appear on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and Tiffani was the overwhelming pick, snatching 43 percent of the votes! ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Champ Hines Ward Busted For DUI

Pittsburgh Steeler and the most recent Dancing With the Stars champion, Hines Ward, was arrested yesterday for “The DUI” in Georgia.

Oh, Hines. If you really were driving drunk, you’ve disappointed us…we thought you were one of the good ones. Besides, did you forget that you have million of dollars? If The Ashley can afford to take a cab home from a bar after a night of too many Cabo Wabo shots, so can you.

Anyway, it appears Hines had quite the busy evening on the night of the arrest. He visited a few high-quality establishments, including the Oasis Gentleman’s Club. Perhaps he was just there to provide the ladies with his ‘Dancing With the Stars’ expertise?

Despite the arrest, Hines is sticking to his story that he was not driving drunk. According to TMZ, he may be telling the truth. In fact, TMZ spoke with several people that were at the places Hines was on the night of his arrest and all of them state he only had a few drinks. READ MORE »

An Interview With Hines & Kim at Last Night’s DWTS Finale!

Hines Ward and his partner Kym Johnson made a big splash during last night’s Dancing With the Stars performance finale. (The winner will be announced tonight!)

The Ashley‘s Sister was in the audience to cheer on Hines. (The Ashley’s family is from Pennsylvania and are huge Steeler fans. It cracks The Ashley up to watch The Dad scurry into the living room to watch Hines dance. The moment you realize your father is watching ‘Dancing With the Stars’ is kind of a Twilight Zone moment.)

Anyway, The Sister got this great video of Hines and Kym discussing their freestyle dance. Kym must have known that she and Hines would make it to the finale because she started planning for their finale freestyle way back in week five! (Sorry, the video is a little hard to hear in the beginning, but tough it out and it will get better!)

“We were at a football game in Atlanta and the drummers came out during halftime and I looked at Hines and said ‘oh my God! This is what we’re going to do for the freestyle!” Kym said. “He was like ‘Um…what’s a freestyle!’”

The pair watched the movie “Drumline” for inspiration, and even hired the Crenshaw High School drummers (straight outta South Los Angeles!) for the performance.

“With her vision, [I knew] that it would be a freestyle that everyone would remember,” Hines said.

The Ashley wishes Hines and Kym the best of luck! They totally deserve to win!

Go on “American Idol” & Get a Bonus Celebrity Boyfriend (Or Girlfriend!)

This season’s crop of American Idol contestants have experienced a phenomena never before seen on any other season of the show. When you get kicked off, you get a celebrity boyfriend or girlfriend!

Of course, this isn’t true of all the ‘Idol’ rejects (sorry, Ashton.) However, two of the eliminated contestants have already snagged themselves a Hollywood-style romance.

Paul McDonald confirmed in his official eliminated contestant conference call that, yes, the rumors are true, he is dating Twilight’s Nikki Reid. (I’m not a Twihard, so I know her as the chick from that movie “13,” which scared the hell out of me and made me never want to have kids.)

“Yes, Nikki Reed and me are dating. It’s officially true,” he said on the phone call. “Yes. I mean, yes, she’s super cool man; she’s a super smart and a really cool girl, so I’m happy with it. We’ve been hanging out here and there, you know we’re both pretty busy, but it’s been fun so far.”

Snort. Haha, I’m sure it has, Paul!

The two met at the “Little Red Riding Hood” premiere (‘member when they showed the Idols going there? It was Thursday night filler, so you may have missed it if you left to get a snack or something.)

Paul’s not the only ‘Idol’ to find themselves a celebrity to date. Pia Toscano is reportedly dating Dancing With the Stars’ Mark Ballas.

“We both film at CBS so we would bump into each other, and you know, he’s just a really sweet guy,” Pia told Access Hollywood Live last Thursday.

Bump into each other, huh? Is that what they’re calling it these days?

Anyway, the couple is already making big steps in their relationship. Tonight, Pia will sing “I’ll Stand by You” while Mark performs with fellow dance pro Karina Smirnoff.

And that’s not all! The rumor is that Pia reportedly also spent Easter with Mark at his mother’s house! It sounds like they’re much more than friends if they’re already dying Easter eggs together! (Here’s another article about their relationship in case you care!)

Normally “Idol” contestants have to wait until after they have a career before they get a celebrity significant other. These Season 10-ers are certainly lucky! I wouldn’t be surprised if Casey Abrams managed to snag himself a starlet as well. Girls in Hollywood love furry-faced men! Or maybe Scotty will get a shot at dating Lindsay Lohan? (Or should I say will need to get a shot after dating Lindsay Lohan?)

Chris Brown Appeared on “Dancing With the Stars” Last Night…How Many Chances Does This Guy Get?!?

Seriously ABC? You gave Chris Brown access to your studio again?!

Last night on Dancing With the Stars, Loveline’s Mike Catherwood got the boot (which is actually a shame; that guy is hysterical on the Los Angeles’ Kevin & Bean morning show, as well as on Loveline.) His celebrity status just wasn’t up to par with the likes of Kendra “On Every Page of US Weekly” Wilkinson.

However, that’s not what The Ashley wants to write about. She wants to ask ABC why the hell they let Chris Brown sing not one but TWO songs on last night’s show?

First of all, calling his performance “singing” is being generous. It was a big heap ‘o’ auto tune, lip-synching and flashing lights. It’s doubtful that there was much singing involved.

Anyway, Chris sang his hit “Forever,” along with some other song. I must say his dance moves were impressive and I totally dug those light-up costumes the dancers were wearing. But that’s it.

Here’s my question to ABC: of all the acts in the world, why the hell do you choose Chris Brown to perform? Why does this guy keep getting chances to redeem himself?!

He barely got a slap on the wrist for his brutal assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Then, just recently, he turned into a raging Incredible Hulk after Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts asked him about the Rihanna incident. READ MORE »

Vote….It’s What All the Cool Kids Are Doing….

"I'm not 18 yet so I'm too young to vote...I'm not too young to pop out babies though!"

It’s November 2 and that means it’s time to get your vote on! Hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ wife and get your ass down to the voting polls to cast your vote. (Of course, there’s no real requirement for you to hide family members in order to be able to vote. However, I was determined to sneak in an Antoine Dodson reference into a post today. I can’t help it; I’m obsessed.)

Anyway, The Ashley spent all of last night going through her voter’s handbook and carefully choosing her votes. Luckily, Dancing With the Stars was running a six-hour episode (or so it seemed.) Sorry, ABC, but showing dances from years past and calling it “Best of” or something doesn’t really hide the fact that it’s simply replayed filler that you’re using to extend the show’s air time, and therefore help you sell more advertising.

"Uh...even I voted...."

I didn’t want to watch Mel B. dance the first time, why would I want to watch it in re-run?! I had it on the TV for shits and giggles, but I used the time to read up on the candidates and fill in my mail-in ballot (which I returned today.)

If you aren’t registered, you can’t vote. Obviously. So register. It’s.not.that.hard. It’s not like you’re stranded on an island or something!

The New Dancing With the Stars Cast….The Ashley Breaks It Down!

Monday night Bachelor Pad-watchers (holla!) were treated to the announcement of the new cast of Dancing With the Stars. (I guess ABC execs figure that the same group of idiots watching the Bachelor Pad is the same group of idiots that will watch half-stars cha-cha, so it was a good fit.)

There were no shockers, as reports had been leaking for weeks as to which ‘celebrities’ were in talks to be on the show. In fact, the entire announcement was a complete yawn-fest: no shockers, nobody remotely interesting, (except for one, which I will get into in one minute) and nobody worth watching.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the new DWTS cast:

Audrina Patridge: If you were never a watcher of MTV’s The Hills then you’re probably wondering who this person is. If that’s the case, congratulations for not watching that horrific show. This chick was on that show. She is filling the ‘hot chick’ slot previously filled by Shannon Elizabeth, Brooke Burke and Nicole Scherzinger and despite the fact that she has super-creepy eyes.

"I've been preparing for this since before you were born, bitches!"

Florence Henderson: Yes, Carol Brady is back and ready to bring the house down! Although Florence’s character never donned a bright orange fringed vest and sang with the Brady kids on those ‘singing’ episodes of The Brady Bunch(“Clowns never laughed before, beanstalks never grew…”) she is a trained stage performer and will probably hold her on, despite filling the token ‘old lady’ spot. (She did dance often on The Brady Variety Hour, after all. Yes, that actually existed.)

Brandy: ‘Member her? The Ashley was a proud cassette-clutching fan of Brandy back in the mid-1990s. Her cassette tape rested happily next to my Monica, Jade (member?!) and Boys II Men tapes. Yeah, she hasn’t done much since then, and surely her appearing on this show is an attempt to have the public forget about her lil’ driving mishap back in 2006. Brandy fills the ‘has-been R& B singer’ hole formerly filled by Mya and Toni Braxton.

Margaret Cho: She’s actually pretty funny, but she will probably get annoying with her proclamations of “I’m fat and proud of it!” Margaret joins as the token ‘big girl’ (a la Kelly Osbourne pre-dance and Macy Gray).

Jennifer Gray: You know, the chick from “Dirty Dancing?” (I’ve still never seen that movie!) The one who got the nose job and then couldn’t get work because nobody recognized her? Here she is, filling the forgotten-about actress role in the cast (Hello, Melissa Joan Hart!)

Bristol FREAKING Palin: Seriously, ABC? Seriously?! This was the best you could find? A girl who got pregnant at 16 who never actually did anything to become famous? Why why why is she on this show? Sarah Palin? That’s fine, but Bristol? That’s like asking for Michael Jackson and getting Tito.

Now for the men….

“The Situation”: Oh god, why? Matching Bristol Palin’s uselessness is this wad of douche from Jersey Shore. Surely, he will be encouraged to fist pump during the Foxtrot. I can’t wait to watch Florence Henderson knock him upside the head when he tells her she’s a ‘grenade.’ (i.e. bad-looking chick.)

Kyle Massey: You probably have no idea who this is, but apparently he’s the big shit over on the Disney channel. He fills the “You’re-too-old-to-know-who-this-kid-is” niche formerly filled by Disney’s Sabrina Bryan.

Michael Bolton: Where…is…his….mullet?!? I was so disappointed to see his long curly poodle mullet of the past was no more. It’s so not even worth watching him dance now. I was so looking forward to watching his curly locks blow in the wind as he spun around during the Viennese Waltz.

Kurt Warner: I have no idea who this guy is because all I do is watch crappy reality shows and don’t have time for sports. However, my football-obsessed sis was super excited to hear he was on this show, so I’m guessing he’s a football player. He will be the token athlete, a la Emmit Smith, Evander Holyfield, blah blah blah. They have one every season to try to connive some men into watching this crap.

Rick Fox: This basketball player-turned-actor will be this season’s ‘minority athlete.’ Kristy Yamaguchi, Apollo Ono and Warren Sapp have all held this prestigious role on the show. Yawn.

…and now, for the most wonderful news this crappy show could possibly deliver….the final man is…

Aww...look how cute he is. I loved Mitch!

David Hasselhoff!!!!!!!

Now as you may remember, The Ashley has a strange obsession with The Hoff. I chased him all over the TV Land Awards just so I could meet him. I’ve been obsessed with him since I was about 9 years old. (I’m not joking or saying this because it’s cool to like The Hoff now.) I actually own David Hasselhoff memorabilia (I was the only 6th grader with a Mitch from Baywatch beach towel!) Having him on the show actually means that I will once again include this crapfest of a show on The Roundup!

Welcome back to The Roundup, Dancing With the Stars! If The Hoff makes it to the end, ABC better beef up their security at the finale because I’m getting in!!!!

The Pot Calls the Kettle Black: Elisabeth Makes Snide Remarks About Erin Andrew's Wardrobe & Stalker

"Waa! Don't hate me! 'Member when I was America's Sweetheart on Survivor?"

You may have heard that former Survivor-turned-View-hostess Elisabeth Hasselbeck is in hot water after saying some mean things about Erin Andrews. (In case you live under a rock, Erin had a man post a naked video of her on the internet which filmed while peeping into her hotel. Oh yeah, and the guy stalked her for 18 months, too.) The stalker was sentenced to over two years in jail recently. However Erin has continued to receive death threats during her time on Dancing with the Stars.

"Is this too skimpy for you, Elisabeth? Do I deserve to be stalked because you can see my thigh?!"

As if poor Erin hasn’t suffered enough, she has to deal with Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s half-brain making mean comments about her too. On an episode of The View, Elisabeth made a comment that the stalker guy should have just waited a few months and watched her on Dancing with the Stars if he wanted to see her almost naked. (Get it, because her costumes are skimpy…isn’t that… funny?)

Erin responded to Elisabeth’s remark by saying that Elisabeth’s comments were “a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators. As a mother and a woman, I’m disappointed she went there.”

Elisabeth got hers though: Mama Barbara Walters scolded her for making such a crappy remark and forced her to apologize, so says many of the tabloids.

So then Elisabeth, who seems like a selfish and annoying piece of crap anyway, goes on The View and cries about how sorry she is, and how her daughter said she should call Erin and apologize, blah blah blah.

From what I hear, Erin doesn’t recall this “I’m sorry” phone call ever coming through, telling USMagazine.com, “I didn’t speak with her, no, I never talked to her.” So either Elisabeth is lying or she did call and Erin told her to fuck off. Either way, that makes me happy.

To Elisabeth I say this: Don’t forget that you started as reality show contestant. I actually liked you when you were on Survivor. You were so cute and kind. What happened? You need to get off your almighty conservative high horse and stop trying to make funnys that are just lame and mean.

And as for you calling out Erin and the other Dancing with the Stars dancers for wearing skimpy costumes, I simply say…’member this?
