We Haven’t Seen the Last of ‘Survivor’ Villain Russell Hantz…

"Aaah, yes....more reality TV fame!"

The Ashley is sorry to report that Survivor star Russell Hantz will once again be infecting our television screens, come February 2012.

Don’t worry; he’s not scheduled to do another season of ‘Survivor’ (yet). The creepy lil’ ‘Survivor’ leprechaun has landed himself a brand new series on A&E called Flipped Off.

Basically, the camera will follow Russell as he goes around Houston buying house on the cheap and then reselling them for profit. Although that sounds risky, given the current economy, Russell’s confident that he’ll be the best house-flipper ever. (Of course he will.)

“There are tons of reality TV stars sitting on their couches and twiddling their thumbs because they haven’t created anything else,” Russell said earlier this year. “I expect to be one of the biggest house flippers in Houston and I am here to bring Houston’s economy back on its feet.”

He knows that if he doesn’t sell a house he can’t use an immunity idol to get out of bankruptcy, right?

Anyway, Russell won’t be the only Hantz gracing our TV screens. The show will also star Russell’s brother (and Brandon‘s father) Shawn Hantz, who we met during the family week on this season of ‘Survivor.’ READ MORE »

Hantz Family Has Been Torn Apart by ‘Survivor’

"I'm going to kick your ass over the computer, Uncle Russell!"

It’s no secret that Russell Hantz will go to battle against his Survivor castmates, but now he’s in the middle of ferocious fight with a family member, nephew and current ‘Survivor’ cast member Brandon Hantz!

Emotions have been running high between the uncle and nephew since Brandon’s season of ‘Survivor’ started. Russell has taken to doing live commentating on his Twitter while the show is on, and oftentimes, his uber-emotional nephew is the butt of his jokes. Russell especially likes to pick on Brandon for his tendency to cry.

This morning things came to a head between Russell and Brandon, who waged an all-out Twitter war against each other!

I don’t know about you but The Ashley is a big fan of reality TV stars taking their personal problems and arguing about them over the Twitter. It’s pretty much the best thing ever, yes? READ MORE »

‘Survivor’ Stars Whitney & Keith Are In Love! There’s Only One Problem…

"There may be one thing I've forgotten to tell you..."

On last night’s episode millions of Survivor fans saw the blossoming love story between Whitney and Keith. We watched as they played footsie in the ocean, snuggled in a hammock and got freaky in the hut (much to the dismay of poor Cochran, who had to sleep next to them).

Their little ‘rumbles in the jungle’ seemed cute and innocent, and caused many fans to wonder if they could be the next Rob and Amber (a.k.a. fall in love on the show and end up getting married.)

One problem: Whitney’s already married. To someone else. And has been the whole time.

Who is Rick, the Mysterious ‘Survivor’ Cowboy?

I'm mysterious!

OK Survivor fans, admit it. You’re just as intrigued with Rick from Survivor as I am.

I’ll admit it; before researching this story, I didn’t even know his name was actually Rick. I have been referring to him as “He Who Will Not Talk” since the start of this season of ‘Survivor.’

But who is this mysterious cowboy? We don’t know much about him (except that he can work a mustache like nobody’s business!) We’ve seen him, lurking in the background during pivotal scenes; sitting silent at tribal council. We’ve even caught half-glimpses of his trusty cowboy hat during challenges. But The Ashley needs to know more.

The Ashley has been meaning to write about this for a while, but has gotten busy and it’s been put to the side. (That’s what happens when you’re living la vida loca, ya’ll.) She’s done some research and found out that 1) Rick is an actual person; he is not a robot, contrary to what some may think. 2) He’s an avid ‘Survivor’ fan, although we would never know that because he never talks about his love for the game (or anything else, for that matter). In honor of Veteran’s Day, The Ashley is excited to bring you this list of reality TV stars that are also military veterans! These people risked their lives (not to mention gave up time with their friends and family) to serve our country, so it’s only right that we honor them over here on The Roundup!

I’m sure I’m forgetting quite a few reality TV stars that are veterans…feel free to add them in the comments section!

Dr. Andy Baldwin (Former ‘Bachelor’) US Navy

In The Ashley’s opinion, Andy Baldwin was the perfect pick to be the ‘Bachelor’ because he had it all: good looks, intelligence (he graduated magna cum laude from Duke!) and is a US Naval Officer and doctor. (Kind of puts ol’ Brad Womack to shame, no?) Andy now works at the Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital in California, but is currently in Kenya delivering babies and saving lives, as you do.

J.R. Martinez (Dancing With the Stars) US Army

J.R. is appearing on the current season of ‘Dancing’ and is such an inspiration. He served in the US Army and went to Iraq in February of 2003. A month later, the Humvee he was in hit a landmine and caught fire, resulting in J.R. receiving burns over nearly half of his body. These days, J.R. is foxtrotting over on ABC, showing many wounded vets that life can go on. READ MORE »

Cochran’s Big ‘Survivor’ Move: Brilliant or Bone-Headed?

"I did a bad, bad thing...."

This season of Survivor suddenly got extremely exciting, thanks to Cochran‘s ginormous move last week! ‘Survivor’ fans watched in delight/horror as Cochran betrayed his tribe and flipped at the last minute, giving the other tribe the numbers after the merge and essentially sealing the fate of his tribe members. After being kicked around by his tribe for weeks, Cochran pulled a fast one on his bullies and screwed them over.

But here’s the real question: did he, in fact, screw himself over by flipping sides? The Ashley thinks so, but what’s your opinion? Was this one of the smartest moves made this season, or was it one of the dumbest?

Reality TV Star Overload at the New York City Marathon!

Screw those Hollywood celebrity tours: if you really want to see celebrities, you need to go run the New York City Marathon. (Or, if you’re lazy like The Ashley, you can always just creep along the sidelines eating an ice cream cone and watch everyone run.)

Anyway, a plethora of reality TV stars huffed and puffed their way through 26.2 miles yesterday, including former Dancing With the Stars winner Apolo Anton Ohno and former Bachelor star Dr. Andy Baldwin (‘member him?!)

Ryan Sutter (of ‘Trista and Ryan’ fame on the Bachelorette), “Top Chef” Richard Blais and Sandy Draghi and Jeremy Cline from this season of The Amazing Race were spotted on the marathon course. Ryan got the fastest time of any celebrity in the race, running it in an impressive 3 hours, 17 minutes. READ MORE »

‘Survivor’ Star Ethan Zohn’s Cancer Returns

Stay strong, Ethan!

Heartbreaking news out of People Magazine today: apparently Ethan Zohn, Survivor winner and more recently a contestant on The Amazing Race, is no longer in remission. His cancer has returned, according to a story posted on the site today.

Ethan found out that the cancer was back on September 14. Luckily, the Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is only contained to his lung area and has not spread to his whole body. On the day he was re-diagnosed, Ethan simply posted “Crush” on his Twitter.

The Ashley feels for Ethan, who went 20 months living cancer free. During that time he and his longtime girlfriend (and fellow Survivor winner) Jenna Morasca competed on The Amazing Race.

He is currently undergoing a chemotherapy treatment that will not cause him to lose the curly mop of hair that has become his trademark. He is also hoping to do a stem cell transplant, according to People, and plans to fight for his life once again.

If you’re still not inspired by this amazing man, wait until you read this: despite undergoing treatment, Ethan still plans to run the New York Marathon on November 6 to raise money for his soccer charity! (Now I feel really, really lazy!) READ MORE »

‘Survivor’ Star Rupurt Boneham Is Ready to Get His Governor On!

Reality TV stars have taken over our televisions, our tabloids and pretty much The Ashley‘s entire life; it’s only appropriate that they start taking over entire states.

Indiana will have the honor of being the first reality TV star-run state, if Survivor fan favorite Rupert Boneham has anything to do with it. He announced a few days ago that he plans to run for governor of Indiana.

Just to refresh your memory, Rupert competed on three seasons of ‘Survivor,’ (“Pearl Islands,” “All-Stars” and ”Heroes vs. Villains”). Although he never won the actual title of sole ‘Survivor,’ he did pocket the $1million Fan Favorite prize. He ended up donating a bunch of his winnings to his charity for at-risk kids. If you still can’t remember who he is, think tie-dye….lots and lots of tie-dye.

Anyway, according to the Associated Press’ article, Rupert plans to seek the Libertarian Party’s nomination for governor. “He wants to take on the state’s political establishment because he feels voters deserve better,” the article said. READ MORE »

Boston Rob: “I’ll Never Do ‘Survivor’ Again!”

Raise your hand if you're over 'Survivor!'

If you’ve been holding your breath, waiting to hear if “Boston” Rob Mariano will ever come back to play the game of Survivor again, you can go ahead and exhale. It’s not happening.

Rob told The Ashley (and a few other reporters during a recent Q & A session) that there’s no chance his Boston Red Sox hat will ever be seen on another ‘Survivor’ island. (Unless he sells it on eBay and some other contestants buys it and wears it for good luck!)

“I’ve gotten everything I wanted to ever out of Survivor,” he said. “I won the show — that was my ultimate goal — my wife won the show. So as a contestant I won’t be back on Survivor.”

Fans will be able to get their fill of Boston Rob by watching his new show, Around the World in 80 Ways (see what they did there with the title–clever, yes?) It’s a ten episode series that premieres on HISTORY next Sunday, October 2, at 10 p.m. (You can read more about that show here!)
