Had I chosen to do a “Worst Reality TV Show Mom” list, my job would have been a whole lot easier (don’t worry, Dina Lohan and Kate Gosselin, you totally would have made that list!)

However, in honor of Mother’s Day, I’ve decided to put together a  list of my favorite moms that have appeared (or are appearing) on reality TV shows.(I would have done a top 10 list, but I’m too lazy.)

Note: The Ashley compiled this list last year; however, since back then she didn’t have nearly as many readers, she figures most of you haven’t seen it. Therefore, she has reposted it and added a few more!

1. Caitlynn from 16 & Pregnant/ Teen Mom

Even though Caitlynn gave her baby up for adoption during the first season of Sixteen & Pregnant, she still makes the list for choosing to do something that she knew would give her baby a better life than she had. Caitlynn knew she was living in the middle of a white trash nightmare: her white trash mom was married to her boyfriend’s white trash dad, her stepdad had a mullet and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth and was in and out of jail, and there was generally nothing good going on in her house. Instead of bringing her baby into that mess, she and her boyfriend unselfishly chose to give the baby to a family that could give her a much better (and mullet-free) life.

2.  Crystal Bowersox from American Idol

Crystal Bowersox was way too cool for American Idol when she auditioned for Season 9. With her dreadlocked hair and her throw-back look and performances, Crystal just wasn’t cut out to be doing cheesy Ford Focus commercials and singing sickening sweet group musical numbers.

However, Crystal everything from singing Wham songs to listening to Kara’s rambling critiques, all in the name of giving her son a better life. “Mama Sox” knew that winning American Idol meant big-time bucks (unless you’re Kris Allen), and as she said early on in the audition rounds “Mama’s got to pay the bills.” Her efforts were worth it!
