Blake Shelton Invites ‘The Voice’ Castoff Gwen Sebastian on Tour

"Wow! Gee thanks, Blake!"

She may not have won the recording contract Grand Prize, but North Dakota singer Gwen Sebastian may have gotten something better out of her time on The Voice. Although he cut her from the show last week, mentor Blake Shelton decided to invite Gwen to go out on tour with him!

Gwen was cut when she went into battle against Erin Willett. Both contestants rocked the performance, but The Ashley believes Gwen had the slight edge over Erin. However, since Erin had just lost her father to cancer, Blake, who tends to be a bit of a softy, advanced her to the next round and cut Gwen.

Blake must have been feeling bad for getting such a talented singer, so he invited Gwen to join his “Well Lit & Amplified” tour. And that’s not all….she will also get to perform with Blake on the American Country Music (ACM) Awards on April 1! READ MORE »

Kim Yarbrough Says She Never Got a Callback Before ‘The Voice’

"I want YOU to give me a chance!"

It’s hard to believe after watching her powerful audition on The Voice last week that singer Kim Yarbrough has never appeared on a singing competition show before. During a media conference call last week Kim told a surprised group of journalists that, despite having auditioned for every nearly singing show ever to hit the air, this was the first callback she’d ever gotten.

“I have tried out for probably every show imaginable, every show that I wasn’t too old for,” Kim said the day after her episode aired. “I never got a call back on any of them.”

Kim said that she was thrilled just to have made it to the second round of auditions, let alone actually make it on the show.

“In my initial audition the people that were judging said, okay, you’ve made it to the second level and I started screaming. They were horrified thinking [that I thought] they were telling me that I was on the show,” she said. “I understood what they were saying but I was screaming because I said, you don’t understand, I’ve never received a callback for anything ever.”

“And they said, well, that’s because [the other shows] don’t listen to the voice. I thought that was kind of cute.” READ MORE »

Kelly Clarkson Trades ‘American Idol’ for ‘The Voice!’

Oh, Kelly Clarkson…you’d have to expect that this might now go over that well with ‘Idol’ fans…

It’s just been reported that Kelly will appear in the upcoming season of The Voice as a guest mentor (along with Babyface, Jewel and Alanis Morissette). ‘The Voice’ resonated with singing show fans when it debuted last season and became an instant hit. It also became American Idol‘s biggest rival, making Kelly’s decision to appear on the show look like a slap in the face to the show that made her famous.

In case you’ve forgotten (since it was back in 2002, which is basically a million years ago in Hollywood time), Kelly Clarkson was a broke waitress before she appeared on (and won) the first season of ‘American Idol.’ Of course, since then, she’s gone on to become internationally famous and one of the most successful former ‘Idols’ ever (second only to Carrie Underwood).

Kelly will work with ‘Voice’ judge Blake Shelton to mentor his contestants. (They’re managed by the same company.) She spent New Years Eve with Blake and fellow ‘Voice’ judge Adam Levine. As you can see from the photo below, the gang had a great time together.

“The thing I love about ‘The Voice’ is that they’re more mentors — they’re not judges,” Kelly told the New York Post last September. “I would never really want to be a judge, just because I don’t want to break people’s hearts. I so want to audition for ‘The Voice’ and see if I can get the chairs to turn around!” READ MORE »
