Part Two!

While there’s been no mention of MTV putting out a fifth season of 16 and Pregnant (from what inside sources have told The Ashley the show is done!) it appears that fans will be getting an update on some of their favorite girls from the show!

MTV has apparently contacted some of the ’16 and Pregnant’ girls to see if they would like to participate in another “Where Are They Now?” special. (The girls are not contractually obligated to participate, just FYI!)

It’s a girl for 16 & Pregnant Season 2 star Brooke Smitherman-Tarrant! Brooke and her husband, Cody, welcomed their second child this afternoon!

The baby, named Ryley Jean (a combination of Cody and Brooke’s middle names, Ryan and Ashley) is little sister to Brody (a combination of Brooke and Cody’s first names), who was born in 2010.

The couple appeared on Season 2B of the show (often known as “the forgotten season” due to the lack of news on the girls that appeared on those episodes.) They are best known as “the couple that lived in a barn.” (Literally!)

Unfortunately, it seems another couple has fallen victim to the 16 & Pregnant marriage curse.

Season 2B’s Emily Mckenzie married her baby’s father, Daniel Peterson, shortly after filming her ’16 & Pregnant’ episode. (In case you need a memory jogger, Emily was the girl from Alabama who gave birth to a baby boy named Liam.) Unfortunately, the couple is no longer together, and from what it looks like, will be making their divorce official in court on July 17.

UPDATED 12/9/12: The stats now include the girls featured on Season 4 of the show.

The Ashley has done some research to figure out some statistics regarding the girls who have appeared on the show 16 & Pregnant. She decided to take on this project because she thinks it will be helpful to fans of the show and, well, because she has no life. Here’s everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the girls who have appeared on 16 & Pregnant. (If you’re trying to get cast for a future season, maybe this research will tell you if you have what it takes to make it on the show….that was a joke.)

Location:

*More than half of the girls that were cast for the show are from Southern states. Very few are from the Western states. (For research purposes, ‘Southern’ states include anything south of West Virginia and east of Texas.)

Yet another girl featured on the MTV series, 16 & Pregnant, has announced that she is once again pregnant! Brooke Smitherman-Tarrant, who was featured on Season 2B of the show, has announced her second pregnancy.

Fans of the show will remember Brooke as the race-car-loving girl who moved into a barn (yes…a barn) with her baby-daddy, Cody during her episode. The couple got married right before Brooke gave birth to their son, Brody. Brooke has stayed relatively quiet since her episode aired– no arrests, drug busts or TMZ appearances, as far as The Ashley can tell. She seems to be happily married and just taking care of her kid.

Anyway, Brooke and Cody apparently found a place in their barn for sexy time because Brooke is once again pregnant!

It’s springtime, which means high school students are preparing to sport those big, bulky graduation caps and gowns and get their diploma on! With so many teenagers graduating, it made The Ashley wonder how many of the teens featured on MTV’s 16 & Pregnant actually made that ceremonious walk down the graduation aisle.

Statistically, teen moms are much less likely to graduate high school and go on to college than girls that don’t have babies. (Which, of course, makes sense. When you have a screaming baby on your hip, that algebra homework seems much less important!)

According to statistics released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “pregnancy and birth are significant contributors to high school drop out rates among girls. Only about 50% of teen mothers receive a high school diploma by 22 years of age, versus approximately 90% of women who had not given birth during adolescence.”

The Ashley decided to do some research to see how the teen mothers that have appeared on ’16 & Pregnant’ fared against the national average. The results were pleasantly surprising.
