Jason Mesnick on Producer’s Hi-Jinks: ‘The Bachelor’ is “Probably 20 Percent Real”

Mesnick The Bachelor Fake

“They made me say that!”

File this under: “Not Shocking At All”

Former Bachelor stars Jason and Molly Mesnick took to their new podcast recently to discuss the show that made them famous: The Bachelor. In the first episode, they held nothing back when talking about the reality of reality TV.

“I’m going to throw a percentage out there, it’s probably 20% real,” Jason said of ‘The Bachelor’ and ‘Bachelorette.’”The first person I met was someone from the story department. I thought, ‘What the hell is someone from the story department doing on a reality show? It makes sense to me now, they have to kind of piece the story together.”

‘Bachelor’ Stars Jason & Molly Mesnick Welcome Baby Girl!

Break out the pink T-shirts!

It’s a girl for Jason and Molly Mesnick! The former Bachelor star and his wife (who he met on the show) welcomed baby Riley Anne on Thursday!

The couple currently holds the honor of being the only couple to ever get married after meeting on ‘The Bachelor.’ (Yes, Trista and Ryan Sutter, and Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum have also married, but those relationships were the result of The Bachelorette.) Jason has a son, from a previous relationship, but Riley is Molly’s first child.

Are ‘Bachelor’ Couple Jason & Molly Mesnick Having a Boy or a Girl?

PregnancyJason and Molly Mesnick are about to welcome their first child together, with Molly due to give birth in about a month and a half! The baby will be the third child that’s a direct result of the Bachelor franchise. (Trista and Ryan Sutter, who met on the first season of The Bachelorette, have two children.)

Molly who is stepmom to Ty, Jason’s son from a previous relationship, said that she and Jason have decided not to find out the gender of their child until Molly gives birth.

“We haven’t found out if [it’s a] boy or a girl,” Molly told The Ashley earlier this month during a cocktail party at the Bachelor Mansion. “Obviously, it would be really good for Ty to have a brother, but then again, it would be awesome to have a little girl so that I’m not outnumbered in the house!  But honestly whatever it is I’ll be happy.”

‘Bachelor’ Couple Jason & Molly Mesnick Are Having a Baby!

The Bachelor

"We're pregnant!"

Former Bachelor star Jason Mesnick has announced that he and his wife, Molly are expected their first baby!

After weeks of bad news coming from the couples of the Bachelor franchise (Breakups! Cheating! Extortion!) it’s great to hear some positive news! Jason and Molly are the only couple in ‘Bachelor’ history to ever actually make it down the aisle after meeting on the show. (Of course, many people say that their marriage doesn’t “count” as a successful ‘Bachelor’ marriage, since Jason originally picked Melissa Rycroft, then dumped her during the finale for Molly.)

The couple has been married since 2010 and they, along with Jason’s son Ty, live in Washington and generally keep out of the spotlight (which is probably why they’re still together!) Jason took to his Twitter to announce their big news.

Melissa Rycroft Insists New Reality Show Won’t Ruin Her Family

How is it even legal for two people to be that beautiful? Come on!

Be careful, Melissa Rycroft. You may be eating your words in a few years.

The star of the new CMT reality show Melissa & Tye: A New Reality,  recently told People magazine that she doesn’t think putting her relationship in the spotlight will ruin her marriage.

Yeah. Neither did Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey. Or Kate and Jon Gosselin. Or Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro. Or Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler. (Remember their show Meet the Barkers? Wasn’t it awful/amazing?!)

Anyway, Melissa told the magazine that even though she essentially had to move her and her daughter halfway across the country to Los Angeles while her husband stayed in Texas, things are going great.

“You just get used to it,” she said. “We’re gotten used to this adjustment, and it’s obviously not hard once you get over that initial transition period.”

Former ‘Bachelors’: Where Are They Now?

It’s Bachelor time again! Forget cleaning, going out with friends or doing something respectable on Monday nights; from now until the day ‘Bachelor’ Ben drops to his knobby knee and nervously asked some giggly, fame-hungry girl to be his wife, consider The Ashley‘s Mondays booked!

In honor of the new season starting tonight (click here to read all about the new gals), The Ashley decided to find out what’s happened to the other guys who once handed out red roses as ‘The Bachelor.’ We all know that none of the couples that met on the show are still together, but what are these people up to today? The Ashley investigated…..

Alex Michel (Season 1):

THEN: In 2002, management consultant Alex Michel became the first ever ‘Bachelor.’ He chose youngin’ Amanda Marsh over Trista Rehn (who would go on to become the first ‘Bachelorette’ and one half of the sickening sweet ‘Bachelor’ success couple, Trista and Ryan.)

TODAY:After dating Amanda for a year (he didn’t propose), the couple broke up. Afterwards, Alex tried to get his foot further into the entertainment door, doing various appearances and reality TV commentary. After that fell flat, Alex became a spokesman for (take a guess) Match.com and is now a relationship expert and spokesperson for Princess Cruises. Here’s a good interview in which Alex talks about how he got on the ‘Bachelor’ and what it was like. As far as I can tell, he is still not married (but is in a serious relationship).

Aaron Buerge (Season 2):

THEN: Banker Aaron became the second ‘Bachelor’ in 2002. He chose Helene Eksterowicz at the end of his season and proposed. However, they only lasted a few weeks.

TODAY: Aaron is now married to a woman named Angye, who he met in a sports bar in his hometown of Missouri. The couple married in 2009 and now have a two-year-old daughter.

While his home life seems to be going well, things are um…less than rosy for Aaron financially. In early 2011, Aaron filed for personal bankruptcy after a loan he got for his chain of “Trolley” restaurants went kaput. In February his debt was listed as $9.3 million, however, according to this article, he is in control of the situation and working it off.
