What’s an Ashley to do?!
Apparently my beloved Adam Lambert got his first taste of a Teen Mom episode recently. This was obviously his first time viewing the teen train wreck drama, because after watching AMBO and the gang, he took to Twitter to talk about the show. Here’s his tweet:
This Teen Mom show on MTV is so depressing. I know it’s “real life” but shouldn’t there be programming that inspires kids to shoot higher? #glorifyingwhitetrash
Um…yah, pretty much. He’s totally right. I know this because I was reading the now-defunct formspring of Jenelle (who will be on the next season of Teen Mom) and was horrified to read a post from a 15-year-old girl, asking Jenelle how she can get on 16 & Pregnant. That’s not all. She said her boyfriend WANTS HER TO GET PREGNANT BY 16 SO SHE CAN BE ON THE SHOW!!! Omg! I’m not making this up, I actually saw this.
So yah, Adam is right. The show sends a really crappy message to teenagers: be irresponsible with your sex life, get knocked up and you’ll be rewarded by becoming famous and making a crapload of money.
Of course, Adam calling the girls on the show “white trash” got everyone all kinds of fired up, causing him to clarify his tweet with the following statement:
I’m not saying that all teen moms are white trash. Don’t misunderstand. Yet, most of the ones on that show seem to be. I do, however, think they’re are being exploited a bit.
(I’m going to let that grammatical ‘they’re, are’ mistake slide because he is so freaking hot!)
Despite that I love Adam and want him to like me, I do love me some Teen Mom, even if it’s only to make fun of the show. The Ashley has gotten some hate mail from readers who get mad when I make fun of the Teen Moms, but how can I not? People like AMBO and Jenelle are only put on TV for our amusement. And, boy, do they amuse me!
Sorry, Adam, but I will continue to watch. Unless of course you’d like to occupy my time and come make out with me. (I know, he’s gay! Save your time leaving me a ‘you know that he likes guys’ comment!)
