Anna Cardwell‘s cancer battle will reportedly play out on the next season of Mama June: Road to Redemption.
TMZ reported that Anna— who died on Saturday after a battle with Stage 4 cancer— wanted her fight against adrenal carcinoma documented for her family’s reality show, so she allowed a WEtv crew to film her right up until the very end.
“The [film] crew was by her side just hours before she passed away — Anna was in hospice for a little over 3 weeks toward the end, and she was open to documenting everything,” the site reported.
The show’s production team reportedly declined to film Anna’s very last moments, leaving before she died Saturday night at the home of her mom, June Shannon. Her funeral— which was held on Wednesday— was also not filmed for the show, despite Anna reportedly giving her permission for them to do so.
Before her death, Anna documented her cancer battle on her TikTok and other social media accounts.

As The Ashley previously reported, 29-year-old Anna left behind two young daughters. Her oldest daughter, Kaitlyn, is reportedly being cared for by June, while the younger daughter, Kylee, is now living with her father, Michael Cardwell, who is Anna’s ex-husband. Anna was married to Eldridge Toney at the time of her death, but Eldridge is not the father of either of the girls.

This is such a tragedy. RIP Anna.
I can see how this could be viewed as tacky or gross. But Anna gave them permission. She wanted people to know what was going on. She didn’t have to give consent for any of that and at any time, she could have refused to film. Depending on how much was filmed, this can also serve as an incredible time capsule for her kids. Imagine them in 20yrs still being able to see and hear their mom.
Personally, I don’t see the benefit of them watching their mother die. They will have to relive it over and over. They don’t need the visual.
I agree!!!
I agree with you Sasha, my mom died 22 years ago June 8th…i wasnt much older than Kaitlyn and even though I have pictures, I would give ANYTHING to here her voice again!!!
Cancer hospice is rough to witness.
I don’t think I would want to watch this experience again.
Hopefully she signed on JUST to get money for the girls, who’s custody situation should be thoroughly reexamined.
I’m sure it can be but it wasn’t for my aunt. She rested peacefully and passed peacefully. Hopefully it was that way for Anna too.
This is tacky af. I hope at least the money can be used to support her girls.
I feel horrible that Anna had to suffer from such a horrible disease,
With that being said, why are they documenting this for a tv special?
It should be a private time for the family to join together and comfort each other.
I do not see the purpose of filming it for a tv special.
I hope the money was worth it to That family.
Anna is the only one I care about. The others seem to be opportunistic.
RIP Anna.
Anna wanted it filmed and the show IS called “Mama June: Road to Redemption”so correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Anna’s tumultuous relationship with June part of that redemption?
