Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor are not currently living under the same room and are seemingly not on the same page about the status of their marriage, either.
As The Ashley told you earlier this month, the former Vanderpump Rules couple announced that they recently decided to separate after four years of marriage, just weeks before the premiere of their new Bravo show, The Valley.
At Thursday’s premiere party for the upcoming series, Brittany spoke about why she decided to separate from her former bartending hubby, telling People that, while she’s been Jax’s “ride or die” for nearly a decade, “there’s only so much that a woman can take.”
“Once a woman hits her breaking point, it’s like, ‘Done,’” she explained. “Something like, clicked in my head, and I was like, ‘I need to get away from this situation. This is not healthy. This is not a good situation. My son deserves better. I deserve better.”
Brittany got away from the situation–- the situation being Jax-– by moving herself and the couple’s 2-year-old son, Cruz, into an Airbnb.
“I feel a little bit of relief,” she told the outlet of taking time away from Jax. “I needed this space.”
At the premiere party, Brittany again insisted that this split was not a publicity stunt to promote ‘The Valley.’
“If people actually have watched me over the years and know my personality, they would know this is not something I would do for our show,” she said. “Like, I’m all about family. I’m all about marriage. I’ve been about that my entire life. So this is something real that I really needed to step back from.”
While Jax echoed some of Brittany’s comments–- that this time apart is what’s “best for [their] family” and that it isn’t a ploy to promote ‘The Valley’–- he insists the two are simply taking “a breather.”
“We decided to take a little bit of a breather,” he said. “I’m not sure what the future holds for us. But as of right now, this is just the best-case scenario, but this is not a publicity stunt.”
Jax and Brittany continue to co-host their podcast, When Reality Hits, and both confirmed that they are still working together on their other businesses, including their bar, Jax’s Studio City.
“Nothing has really changed other than we’re not sleeping in the same bed right now,” Jax said.
The 44-year-old told Us Weekly at Thursday’s premiere that “it is possible to co-parent and run businesses and be OK with each other,” before shutting down rumors that his and Brittany’s issues are the result of him being unfaithful.
“Not everyone gets divorced because they cheated,” he told the outlet. “Believe it or not, that was not the case. I know it’s shocking. We’re just not communicating right now and that’s all there is to it.
“ … Everybody goes through it at one point or another in their relationship,” he continued. “Some people get through it. Some people don’t. We’re taking some time for ourselves. I see her everyday [and] we take our son to school together everyday.”
‘The Valley’ premieres Tuesday, March 19 on Bravo and is available to stream the following day on Peacock.

Like honestly, what did she think it was going to be like? The guy is who he is. Scum.
Jax has the whole Madonna/Whore complex going. And that bar he has doesn’t help.
After she gained so much weight while pregnant I knew they would start having problems because Jax is just that vain. I don’t know what kind of dad he is but he married Brittany because she was a young hot thing now she’s a mom and that has probably changed the way he sees her. Jax is superficial just like his other Vanderpump rules castmates.
yeah me too I think he had a super hard time with her body changing and gaining alot. It still looks like she has a lot to lose still, and with his vain ass he probably was doing inappropriate things. I’m not believing that he didn’t cheat.
Get real. Jax is incapable of being faithful or loyal to anyone, regardless of their appearance.
