‘Welcome to Plathville’ Star Kim Plath Officially Files for Divorce From Husband Barry; Demands Custody of Couple’s Minor Children & Child Support

“Gimme them kids and that cash, Barry.”

Kim and Barry Plath are finally moving forward with their divorce, more than two years after the Welcome to Plathville stars announced they were ending their marriage of 24 years. In the just-filed divorce documents, Kim is asking that her minor children move down to Florida to be with her, in addition to asking Barry to shell out big bucks in child support, attorneys’ fees and more!

According to Starcasm, Kim officially filed for divorce on June 26, though the divorce complaint claims that the couple separated “on or about December 21, 2021.”

Kim reportedly filed for divorce in Georgia, however, she notes in the complaint that she is now a full-time Florida resident, where she is hoping to relocate her and Barry’s three minor children– 15-year-old Amber, 13-year-old Cassia and 11-year-old Mercy. (Kim and Barry are also parents to adult children Ethan, Hosanna, Micah, Moriah, Lydia and Isaac.)

“Plaintiff shows that she is a fit and proper parent to care for the minor children and that she is entitled to both temporary and permanent primary custody of the minor children,” the filing states.

Kim, showing the court just how “fit” she is…

In addition to seeking temporary and permanent primary custody, Kim is also asking for Barry to pay her child support for their three minor children.

“[Kim] shows the Court that the [Barry] is able-bodied and gainfully employed, well able to pay child support to [Kim] for the benefit of the minor children of the parties, both temporary and permanent,” the filing reads. “[Barry] should be required to pay child support in accord with Georgia Child Support Guidelines.”

Barry “Able Bodied” Plath, ladies and gents.

Kim is also asking that there be an “equitable division” of her and Barry’s assets and debts, as well as requesting that Barry pay her attorneys’ fees.

In June 2022, Kim and Barry told People in a joint statement that they had decided to end their marriage, claiming it “was not an easy decision,” despite being “the best choice for both of us.”

“…but if dragging out this divorce happens to secure us another season or two of this show, then let the games begin!”

“We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children,” they added.

Although Kim wrote that she wants a divorce from Barry because their marriage is “irretrievably broken,” she then hints that there’s a more-specific (and likely more-juicy!) reason for the split. She states that, should Barry contest the divorce complaint, she will reveal what other “fault-based grounds” she has for asking for the divorce.

“Plaintiff is additionally entitled to a divorce from Defendant upon the following grounds:

(a) together with other fault-based grounds which the Petitioner will amend this complaint should this matter become contested.”

“Don’t make me bring out the big guns, Barry!”

Barry has yet to respond to Kim’s filing.

Season 6 of ‘Welcome to Plathville’ premieres July 16 on TLC.

  1. he doesn’t brainwash the kids against her–he cares so much more for them than she EVER has—she left, she wanted out and chose to leave all of them BEHIND!!! she left the kids, abandoned them–she deserves nothing but a divorce–no money no kids-no assets—see ya!!!

    1. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 okay, the only thing Barry has EVER cared about is Barry…and that’s the way it’ll be until the day he takes his last breath (which I hope is sooner rather than later)

  2. I’m glad the kids are old enough to have some say in where they end up. I sincerely doubt any of them would choose Kim. She’s already showed where they fall on her priority list.

Also, no doubt she already had something in the works with Ken when she split from Barry. Let her pay her own legal fees.

    1. They (the minor children) have shown where their mom falls on their priority list as well. There is an episode from last season where Kim drops the kids off to Barry and the kids make a beeline for Daddy Dearest leaving Kim to sit in the living room alone where she finally leaves after a few minute.

No doubt a brainwashing tactic from Barry.

  3. She left them with their dad for 2 years and now wants them back? And to move them to a different state and uproot their lives? Kim is insufferable

  4. I’m actually looking forward to Season 6 of WTP…last season was a lot less annoying with Barry and Kim not being together

And now that Ethan and Olivia have parted I can only imagine how good the show can be.

    1. I’m looking forward to it too. Hope Ethan is doing well. Even if he’s struggling a bit now, at least he’s free from Olivia’s constant manipulation and control. I’m sure he’ll find his way.

      1. I wholeheartedly agree.

People think Ethan was the bad one in that relationship due to his conservative views and while I don’t agree that the woman should have to do EVERYTHING for the man…a home cooked meal every once in a while is not that much to ask and I literally NEVER saw her cook!!!

    2. I stopped watching it bc of Ethan and Olivia. So boring. Maybe it’ll pick up with them divorced.

  5. She left her 3 minor children to follow her boyfriend to Florida. Now she wants custody? If I were in her situation my #1 priority would be my children not my boyfriend.

    1. If she had left them unattended I would agree with you BUT she left them with their father.

If she had taken them with her can you imagine the crap Barry would have raised…like HOLY CRAP!!!

        1. “Decent mom’s” deserve “me time”

You spend 24/7 with a dipshit of a husband with whom you have kid after kid with (because that’s how your taught) then you’re gonna wanna break free a bit after you’re rid of “husband” and all but 3 kids are an adult.

Plus, Amber is FIFTEEN…I’m surprised Daddy Dearest hadn’t married her off!!
