‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Katie Maloney Explains Why She’ll Never Get Back Together with Ex-Husband Tom Schwartz; Reveals What She’s Looking For in Next Partner

“Not if you were the last Tom person on earth, buddy.”

Former spouses Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz shared a few nice moments throughout Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules, but Katie insists there won’t be a “Bubba” reunion in the near future– or ever.

As The Ashley previously told you, Katie and Schwartz announced in March 2022 that they were divorcing after nearly six years of marriage, with Schwartz revealing it had been Katie’s decision to end things.

On the latest episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Katie spoke to host Amanda Hirsch about the handful of lighthearted moments she and Schwartz shared last season, claiming their on-camera banter was possible because of “a lot of healing that happened.”

“ … I think once we got a little bit further into our divorce and separation– and also just putting distance and time behind us and between us– that there’s a lot of healing that happened. A lot, mostly on my part,” she said. “But I don’t know how much examining that man does of his own life and emotions.”

Raise your hand if you’re happy you don’t have to put up with the Tomfoolery anymore…

Katie went on to say that while Schwartz used to be able to “really hurt her” with his words and actions, she’s no longer affected by him in that way. She also said she isn’t bothered that Schwartz has moved on and is in a relationship with someone new.

“ … I’m just not, like, affected by if he’s dating someone or who it is,” she said. “I mean, you know, if it happened to be one of my friends, [it] might be a little weird, but I think at this point, I could handle it.

What a difference a year (or so) makes…

“ … It feels like it’s been a really long time [since we’ve been together],” she added. “I don’t even remember what it’s like to kiss him. And that’s kind of sad, but like, that’s the truth.”

The Something About Her co-owner admitted that she doesn’t see a world in which she and Schwartz would ever rekindle their relationship, largely because she doesn’t “think he’s done any type of therapy or work” on himself, noting Schwartz’s past tendency to focus on other things, including Schwartz & Sandy’s, the bar he co-owns with ‘Vanderpump Rules’ co-star and BFF Tom Sandoval.

“ … I’m like, sir, when are you gonna talk about your involvement in our relationship and not showing up for me and giving me emotional support and acting like my emotions were not valid and [that I] didn’t need support,” she recalled.

At one point during the podcast, Katie acknowledged that outside of her and Schwartz’s relationship, Schwartz “was a very likable person,” and even admitted that their relationship wasn’t “awful,” though it was lacking what she needed.

“ … [Schwartz] and I, we had a great friendship,” she said. “We had fun, we laughed together, but there was so much missing that I needed out of that. I needed a partner in life and I needed that big love and I just didn’t have that.

“I felt like he just didn’t really like me in a way … ,” she added.

“But pouring drinks on your head was my love language, Katie…”

As for what she sees in her future–- romantically speaking–- Katie said she doesn’t “really want to date, period,” unless she happens to meet someone who’s interested in being more “serious about stuff.”

“It just feels like a waste of time,” she explained. “My life is really, really great. So if someone wants to date me, they have to prove that they deserve a place in my life. They need to prove that I need to give my time because for the most part, I’d be wasting it so much on people and I just don’t feel like doing it.”

Katie-– who has dated both men and women in the past–- said she remains open to being in a relationship with anyone who won’t make her feel like she’s wasting her time.

“Like I said, I just like people and so it would depend on the person … but I think I’m more in like, a hetero romance space where I enjoy relationships with men more,” she said. “But I don’t know– shock me … I would love to be shocked.

“ … I just don’t feel like wasting my time on anything casual with anyone,” she continued. “So there’s equal opportunity.”

  1. I’m shocked Katie and Tom even got engaged, let alone married. Getting pets and a marriage license won’t fix problems. Tom never wanted to marry Katie, but she pressured him and gave him a timeline.

I’m glad to see Katie thriving, nonetheless.
