Former ‘Dance Moms’ Star JoJo Siwa Says It Makes Her “Sick to [Her] Stomach” That Abby Lee Miller Is Being Replaced For Show’s Reboot

“Booo…”

According to JoJo Siwa, the upcoming Dance Moms reboot, Dance Moms: A New Era, has made a wrong step in choosing to replace coach Abby Lee Miller with Glo Hampton.

JoJo, who appeared on the original Lifetime series from 2015 to 2016, told Us Weekly that, while she still plans to tune in to the reboot– which premieres later this month on Hulu– she hates that her former dance coach isn’t part of the new series.

“It makes me, quite honestly, a little sick to my stomach to see them try to replace Abby,” she said. “Even though Abby says the quote, ‘Everyone’s replaceable,’ Abby Lee is not replaceable.”

“Couldn’t agree more!”

As The Ashley previously told you, ‘Dance Moms: A New Era’ will feature not only a new coach, but a new crop of mother-daughter duos. While JoJo has mixed feelings on who will be leading the new dancers, she said she’s excited for the next generation of ‘Dance Moms’ stars.

“I’m happy for them,” JoJo she said. “I think any kids that get a platform like this have a chance to truly change the world and make their stamp and I’ve very happy for them.”

As for Glo’s role on the upcoming series, JoJo suggests the Studio Bleu coach make a name for herself and not attempt to emulate Abby’s particular–- and, frankly, potent–- personality.

“I think that [‘Dance Moms: A New Era’] would have a lot more success if Glo was Glo, not if Glo was Abby,” she explained. “I think, realistically, Glo would not do a pyramid. She would not say, ‘There’s six weeks ‘till nationals.’ She would not use the exact Abby lingo.

“ … I think the show will have a lot more success if they tried to be more original versus trying to copy Abby,” she continued. “‘Cause you can’t.”

Fans of ‘Dance Moms’ may remember Glo from Season 3 and 4 of the OG series. Her daughter, Kaeli Ware, competed on Abby’s team but was kicked out amid drama with another dancer named Ally Serigne.

Kaeli competed against the Abby Lee Dance Company under Studio Bleu and placed first in the third season. The following season, Glo and her team of young dancers went on to beat ALDC in the competition.

While Abby isn’t involved in the ‘Dance Moms’ reboot, she released the trailer for her new dance series, Abby Lee Dance With Me, in May; however, a premiere date has yet to be announced for the series.

‘Dance Moms: A New Era’ premieres August 7 on Hulu. Click here for details and to watch the first trailer.

  1. She’s going hard for someone that really did treat her like she was replaceable. I feel like Jojo has mostly been praised when she is going along with whatever the adults around her are saying, so she feels obligated to defend them when they are called out for their bad behavior, specifically, with her connections to Colleen and Abby. I genuinely am not sure she understands adult/child dynamics in the traditional sense. I don’t envy that position… If she looks at things critically she then has to question the authenticity of her most formative relationships and I imagine that would be a very painful, life changing thing to dig up all willy nilly.
