‘Dance Moms: A New Era’ Coach Glo Hampton Says Her Friend Abby Lee Miller Isn’t Speaking to Her Amid Show’s Reboot: “Hopefully She’ll Come Around”

“Take the hint and Glo go away, girl.”

New era, same level of drama.

Dance Moms: A New Era is now streaming on Hulu, introducing fans of the OG series to a new group of dancers and their moms, as well as new instructor Glo Hampton, who is stepping into the shoes formerly filled by Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller. While  Glo says she once considered Abby a “good friend,” she recently revealed that Abby is no longer speaking to her.

As The Ashley previously told you, Glo appeared on Season 3 and 4 of the original series when her daughter, Kaeli Ware, was selected to compete on the Abby Lee Dance Company replacement team. Kaeli was eventually kicked off of the team amid drama with another dancer named Ally Serigne, after which she went on to compete against ALDC under Studio Bleu and place first in the third season. The following season, Glo and her team of young dancers went on to beat ALDC in the competition.

While Glo claims she and Abby became “good friends” after meeting through ‘Dance Moms,’ she told Page Six that things have recently changed between the two. The Studio Bleu Dance Center coach claims that while Abby congratulated her on landing the ‘New Era’ gig, she didn’t offer any advice to her going into the reboot and has recently cut communication with her all together.

“She’s not speaking to me at the moment,” Glo said. “She did reach out and congratulate me and I thought she was supporting the whole thing. And then when I did reach out to try to get together– because we were in Florida at the same time– she just wasn’t very receptive.”

Glo went on to say that she isn’t sure where things stand with her and Abby right now, but she believes Abby “feels a type of way” about her former show being revamped.

“Yeah, I ‘feel a type of way,’ and that way is mad as hell.”

“ … and I understand, but it’s a new show– it’s not her show,” Glo noted.

Despite the current state of their friendship, Glo said she remains hopeful that Abby will “come around” eventually.

“We’ve been good friends,” she said. “I’ve been there for her through her illness and vacations and lots of things. So it makes me sad. But you know, hopefully she’ll come around.”

(As fans of ‘Dance Moms’ may remember, Abby was diagnosed with a rare form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2018, shortly after she was released from prison for bankruptcy fraud. She is now uses a wheelchair to get around.)

As The Ashley previously reported, Abby is not involved in the ‘Dance Moms’ reboot; however, she released the trailer for her new dance series, Abby Lee Dance With Me, in May.

A premiere date for Abby’s new show has yet to be announced. Meanwhile, all episodes of ‘Dance Moms: A New Era’ are now streaming on Hulu.

Abby has not yet responded to Glo’s statements.
