Something may be amiss at Something About Her, the West Hollywood sandwich shop owned by Vanderpump Rules stars Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney.
Over the weekend, Ann Maddox–- the former assistant of Tom Sandoval and supplier of batteries/other household goods, who was later hired to work at Something About Her–- revealed on social media that she facing a financial hardship due to her hours being cut at Ariana and Katie’s shop.
“Well my hours got cut at the sandwich shop so I have no choice but to have this succeed. Pplease vote for my podcast so that we can get more host read ads and pay my rent thank you,” Ann revealed Sunday on Instagram, along with a link where fans could vote for her podcast, We Signed an NDA, which has been nominated for an award.

On the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ subreddit, where a screenshot of Ann’s Instagram Story was shared, fans of the show speculated why Ann’s hours may have been cut at Something About Her, with some wondering if the sandwich shop may be shutting down just two months after officially opening its doors.
Viewers also questioned why Ann chose to share the information about her hours being cut without providing any context. Many of the commenters noted that Ann has been spotted in multiple commercials in recent months, suggesting that her acting career is on an upswing and that her availability may have changed; however, others believed that the vague post hinted that Ann may have some bad blood with her employer.
“Does Ann want to be hired ever again by anybody?” one person commented. “She’s just a charming bridge burner.”
“This doesn’t feel like something someone who is on spectacular terms with their employer would say publicly,” another fan wrote, according to The Sun.
Other viewers placed the blame on Ariana and Katie, claiming the two (or more specifically, Ariana) had ulterior motives for hiring Ann, who, as ‘Vanderpump Rules’ viewers may remember, first appeared on the Bravo series in Season 11 as Sandoval’s personal assistant and the person whom Sandoval and Ariana often communicated through following their March 2023 breakup.
“Yeah I don’t know if Ariana and Ann genuinely like each other or not, but it definitely felt like Ariana ‘snagging’ Ann was more about sticking it to Tom than anything else … ,” one viewer wrote. “Now that the show has wrapped I’m not sure it means anything to still have her around.”
“I hope they didn’t just use Ann for publicity,” another added. “She’s getting f**ked from these reality stars and it’s not ok.”
According to Reality Blurb, Ariana and Katie faced similar criticism just weeks ago after a job listing for a “prep team member” at Something About Her was posted to Reddit, revealing that the position started at $21 per hour, working 15 to 30 hours per week. (Just FYI— a law passed in California in April made the minimum wage for fast food workers $20 per hour.)

“I think employers should pay their workers a living wage/fair wage,” one person noted, with another adding, “They do this to the little people? Naw, it’s unethical.”
“If you can’t afford to pay your employees a living wage (and this is not a living wage in LA) then you can’t afford to be in business,” someone stated.
“Ariana and Katie are treating their workers as a commodity to be drained of value in order for them to get richer,” another wrote.
Ariana and Katie have not responded to the speculation stemming from Ann’s comment and Ann has yet to provide an explanation as to why her hours were cut.

We actually don’t know what happened behind the scenes, so it’s impossible to take sides. It’s unprofessional for Ann’s employer to talk about it.
