Cory Wharton Claims He’s the Best Competitor on ‘The Challenge’ Who Has Never Won: “Everyone Wants Me to Get That Win!”

Ok, but WHEN?

Cory Wharton has two baby mamas, three children and an IMDb page chock-full of MTV series– including 10 seasons of The Challenge, from which he has collected exactly zero wins. However, in a recent interview with Los Angeles radio station Power 106, Cory still proclaimed himself “the best to have never won” on the MTV competition show.

Cory– who also appears on MTV’s Teen Mom: The Next Chapter— has managed to make it to four ‘Challenge’ finals since his 2016 debut on the series; however, as of press time, he’s yet to bring home much more than a large collection of workout swag featuring his own name.

According to The Challenge Wiki, in his eight years of competing on the show, Cory has won just over $110,000 in prize money.

“I mean, that’s certainly nothing to brag about, but it’s $110,000 more than Zach has earned…”

The father of three is currently competing as part of Era 3 on The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras, where he’s trying, once again, to bring home the title of ‘Challenge’ champ. He recently touted his ‘Challenge’ competency on Power 106 FM’s Letty Peniche for Brown Bag Mornings.

“ … I can say this, I’m the best to have never won,” Cory stated. “Everyone’s waiting for me to get that win, everyone wants me to get that win.

As we all saw on last week’s episode of ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter,’ Ryder is wanting to see her dad win more than anyone.

“Trust me, I do, too,” he added.

When asked which ‘Challengers’ have a similar story (aka never won but deserve the win), Cory named Leroy Garrett and Fessy Shafaat.

“[We are] the three top people who probably haven’t won,” he said.

All of us reading that quote…

Of course, not all ‘Challenge’ fans are Cory stans, something Cory said he’s aware of. In fact, he told the host that, back in his early days on reality TV, he couldn’t stand watching himself.

“I hated myself!” Cory said. “That was the craziest part! My first MTV show was The Real World in 2013. I did not come out of my house for two weeks [after it aired]. It was such a trip. To watch myself and be like, ‘Dang, I don’t even like that dude.'”

When he made it on his first season of ‘The Challenge,’ Cory said he knew what was expected of a new guy on the show.

“I wanted to make noise. And that’s what I did,” he said. “I made some noise. And I’m just lucky and blessed that I get to do this 10 years later. For reality television, that’s hard to do. But [I’m] still here, still fighting.”

Cory says he’s changed a lot since then.

“I was 23 when I got on TV,” he said. “I was single, I was young. I thought everything I did was cool. You know what I mean? So to grow up on TV has got its positives and negatives…it’s almost like self-therapy. I got to see the parts of my life that I wanted to improve on. Then I got to do it.”

To the surprise of literally no one, Cory said he doesn’t watch seasons of ‘The Challenge’ that he doesn’t appear on, admitting that he “gets a little bit of FOMO.”

  1. no, corey ~ not ‘everyone’ wants you to get that win. 🙄
like, if he wins, fine. but he’s not some universally known and/or beloved figure.

  2. Corey is made for reality TV. I kind of think he’s pretty cool but can’t believe that he didn’t marry Cheyenne. I bet that he’s slowly realizing that was the “one that got away”.

  3. I never want him to win simply for the fact that he thinks he deserves to win. I remember him thumping his chest along with Hunter and calling themselves “young guns” while Cory lost again and again. I don’t like the guy. Get a job. I won’t even say “Marry Taylor” because she can do better than this loser.

  4. This guy is so self-absorbed (although realizing he did some sh*t on The Real World-didn’t he and Jenny hook up in the confession room?-credit where credit’s due) that he thinks he is the greatest thing that ever happened on The Challenge. Well, you’re not. I miss OGs like Mark, Wes, Derrick, CT….(I know they all came back as a part of a different Era), even Abram….

  5. He was to busy getting his dick wet the first few seasons he was on when he might’ve been fit enough to make a win

  6. So uh, what exactly DOES he do? Has he ever held down a job? Corey is obnoxious AF. He’s a total showboat for someone that has never won. Not just back when he started- he STILL is, and Taylor honestly could do SO much better. How do they afford their lifestyle if both aren’t working and he’s not winning? $110 over 10 years isn’t anything…

    1. Sir, you are THE LAST PERSON who needs to accuse someone else of showboating!!

At least Cory isn’t a sicko like you

      1. Hannah- go back to your cave, No one here likes you or anything you have to say. How am I a sicko exactly? Please enlighten me with your intelligent and witty comments you usually make you man hating c*nt.

          1. You noticed that too?

Not only did they come back with another screen name but they got an ugly ass picture too

        1. @(horrible)hannah ~ pretty sure hustlah was referring to YOU as truedat there, chief. 🥴🤣
          #clueless #whoosh 💨 #overyourhead

@hannahblows ~ have also wondered that, more than once. 🤷🏼‍♀️ she really is a scourge on this site, isn’t she?

          1. She really is annoying and I don’t know that I’ve ever seen her get more thumbs up than down LOL. @Hannah, LOL whatever you have to tell yourself honey. And I’m not sure how that is an ugly ass picture… I mean, you are so ugly, you wouldn’t think of posting what you look like so I’ll give her that for sure. She clearly has sense (since she asked what we all want to know), which is more than I can say for you. And again- since you dodged the question… Please tell me how I am a sicko? Look, no one here likes you. No one cares what you have to say. You are a miserable person.

      1. I doubt he made much- I didn’t realize he was on the show enough to make a salary. I don’t watch anymore- I just wait on The Ashley’s recaps LOL

  7. Cory still hasn’t come to terms that Cory isn’t going to happen. Become an adult – marry the the mother of your two youngest kids and get a real job.

    1. I remember there was a wedding planned on MTV.
Then old tweets of Taylor’s surfaced and the show was canceled. So are they holding out for MTV to pay for the wedding?
Why didn’t they at least go through with the wedding part of it?

      1. Steven, Cheyenne said something to the effect of “all white babies needed to die”

But again, she was 18 and has since apologized.

People need to forgive and forget a mistake someone made a freaking decade ago

          1. Nobody said I “condoned” it…but when someone APOLOGIZES and doesn’t repeat the offense…then yeah I’m gonna forgive that…life’s too damn short to hold on to hold on to hate for something someone did in the past and has since changed their ways

      1. Do you remember that Chey made those comments as a naive 18 year old…Taylor made similar comments about blacks when she was 18…I love both of them…they are amazing women, amazing moms.

And Chey’s coparenting relationship with Cory is freaking awesome

  8. Wait. Only 110k in prize money?! Where is his money making money because, I’m going to buy stock in that lol

    1. $110k in prize money but they get appearance fees also for going on the show; and then also whatever endorsements/paid ads he does on social media too.
