Statler Riley Calls Out Angela Deem’s Alleged Abuse of Michael Ilesanmi on “90 Day Fiance”; Says Co-Stars Who Don’t Speak Out Are TLC’s “Puppets”

“I’ve got your back, Mikey!”

90 Day Fiance fans are continuing to speak up about alleged partner abuse on the show, and are getting support from at least one former star, Statler Riley.

A few weeks after taking to social media to call out the network for not intervening in Angela Deem’s mistreatment of estranged husband Michael Ilesanmi during an episode of a 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? ‘Tell All’ special, fans are once again criticizing the network for its handling of the alleged abuse and are taking other “90 Day”cast members to task for not speaking up.

In a conversation on Instagram, Statler criticized her co-stars, calling them “puppets” who are sucking up to TLC, the network that airs the “90 Day Fiance” franchise.

On Friday, Instagrammer @ShabootyDotCom started the online debate amongst cast members when it posted, “I feel all cast members should come out publicly in support of Michael. And for someone like Loren [Brovarnik] to come out in support of Angela at this late juncture during a live stream proves she’s the biggest trashcan of them all. And I won’t even get started on the clowns that buddy up with Angela at every opportunity like Big Ed [Brown]. Don’t let other tea distract you.”

The account also shared a highlight from a recent In Touch Weekly article detailing Michael’s legal filing countering Angela’s request for an annulment.

“Michael claimed that he experienced ‘cruel treatment’ and ‘physical and mental abuse’ during their marriage,” according to the outlet. “He also said that the treatment was one of the reasons for their divorce.

“Michael went on to allege that the abuse took place in private and while they were filming the 90 Day Fiancé franchise,” the article continued. “Additionally, he asked for a fair division of their assets and for ‘both temporary and permanent spousal support.’”

Statler was one of the first cast members in the thread to show support for Michael.

“Cast who don’t loudly support Michael are puppets so far up TLCs ass..,” Statler wrote.

After first writing that she stays out of the “drama” between cast members, Jenny Slaton eventually took to Instagram to comment, “No one should be supporting Angela. Abusing someone is not OKAAAY.”

Yesterday, @ShabootyDotCom shared a live video of Loren defending Angela.

“Loren is defending a domestic abuser – she’s sickening! Do not let her sit there smugly and try to water down and whitewash Angela’s abuse. This isn’t a flippant topic. Loren, stop putting your ‘reality career’ before making a stand against abuse.

“First grow a backbone, stop shilling, and then see about growing a brain. Also the fact that ‘she was there,’ and she’s still defending Angela MAKES IT WORSE! You were there while the abuse was taking place during that NYC trip, and yet you’re still giving the Angela the green light? Get the out of here!”

In the video, Loren said, “[W]e were there and you can absolutely see the pain that she was in, you can see, [Angela], like, genuinely got f**king played and hurt [by Michael], and, again, I don’t know what they show or what. I know they show her to be crazy, because she is and I love her so much.

“My heart really f**king hurts for her, and now with everything going on, from what people have been sharing with me, like legal stuff, again, I don’t get involved with it, my heart really hurts for her,” Loren continued. “She really got f**king played and it kills me, and I don’t think it’s fair, and, again, I know you guys only see edited parts, and, I mean, that’s what makes f**king TV good.”

In the comment section of that post, Statler continued to criticize her co-stars for defending TLC.

“The puppets are showing themselves tooooo easily!” Statler wrote. “All you have to do is pay attention! For every fire TLC tries to put out that could potentially hurt their viewership, you’ll see a puppet pop up to call the innocent people crazy. It’s so playbook, it’s wild!”

“It’s all Team Michael over here!”

Fans shared their disappointment with Loren on her recent Instagram post.

“How dare you excuse Angela’s abuse towards Michael?” one person wrote. “Are you blaming editing when Angela has spat on him, hit in the face with a cake and physically destroyed his property?! Shame on you for excusing domestic violence.”

“Is this your excuse for defending a domestic abuser?” commented another person. “Because it’s a man and he’s from Nigeria this means he doesn’t deserve respect? I could tell your husband didn’t have a kind word about Micheal. Guess you aligned with him for marital bliss? Why not just keep your views private? Hope that you never experience the level of violence he has or anyone you love.”

  1. Not a fan of either of them but God I can’t stand that annoying troll… someone needs to tell this girl that being awkward is NOT a personality trait! Ugh she is so grating on all senses, everything about her annoys me, even her name… Statler…ugh!!! 🤮

  2. Loren needs to STFU… She’s probably only saying that anyway, because she’s scared of Angela. It doesn’t matter how much “pain” Angela was in or how she was “played” or “cheated” on… She literally put that “pain” and “suffering” on herself. SHE could have left the entire situation alone LONG ago. Instead, she continued to pursue Michael and was relentless on marrying him. An absolute psycho on trying to unearth any type of dirt on him. I would be mortified if a partner did that to me. I personally wouldn’t stick around with someone like that, but I am sure Michael was scared of her and [probably wanted to prove he wasn’t doing all that she accused him of. The bottom line is, SHE chose this ENTIRE situation! Regardless of what she “endured” from Michael’s end anyway, it doesn’t give Angela the right to treat him like that. Period. Not to mention, I am almost pretty much willing to bet my life, that if Angela is the way she is on film towards Michael, that in private- she’s probably absolutely 100X more horrendous towards him. I have never seen Michael get even to a quarter of the level she had with him, on a good day. I didn’t give him any money for the GoFundMe but honestly, I hope he wins in court.

    1. Michael does seem like he’s a genuinely kind person. Did he just want to come to the US, maybe. Did he scam..perhaps. But there is absolutely no reason for him to be abused like that.
I think he did care about Angela. Just not in a “wife” way.

  3. It has nothing to do with race. Angela screaming at Michael triggered something in me, just hearing her tone of voice and her anger. She is truly abusive. You can even see by Michael’s reactions, he doesn’t scream back, doesn’t get to her level of anger. He tries to calmly defend himself and reason with her. Typical abuse victim trying to just get the abuser to understand them. He obviously cares about her or he would not have put up with this for so long. Angela is the typical “I won’t let a man control me!” But like, Michael isn’t trying to control her.. just trying to coexist/be equals with her. Angela is so backwards and uneducated, unfortunately her mindset can’t be saved at this point. But it’s important for the viewers to see at least that this is actual abuse. If anything, hopefully it will help dv victims identify and leave their situations.

  4. I just want to say that I don’t feel Loren was defending Angela’s abuse; I feel Loren was identifying with her anger and frustration. The whole show is based around marriage and Loren did make an attempt to speak with Michael but, as we all saw, it was almost impossible to have a conversation with Michael because Angela would come charging in raging at full force. I think Loren understands Angela’s outrage and identifies with the financial burden Angela shouldered to meet Michael and get him to the US so they understand how angry she is and probably felt he had to be scamming her. After the private investigator (who went to lunch/dinner with them after the show, lmao) said he found nothing to indicate Micheal was scamming Angela, Loren and Alexei start to see the other side of it and you can tell they’re saying to themselves, “either this woman is totally off her rocker or she knows something we don’t know” so they just give her a reaffirming goodbye on their way out. Loren was genuine but she just couldn’t talk to Michael, like everyone else couldn’t. There’s a few TikToks of some influencer who met Angela a couple of months prior to the last taping and her take is that now that Angela feels famous she thinks she can do better and wants to explore other relationships (presumably with some old friend in Canada and some young boxer who wouldn’t really want her dusty old bones) and I think Angela knows now that she has attained fame she’s stuck with the legal burden of maintaining this marriage. Go back to those first episodes of Michael and Angela and you’ll see a totally different person we’re seeing now. She’s on drugs (also witnessed and discussed) and she has an inflated self-image that’s turned her into the monstrosity we’re seeing now.

  5. Please! Angezilla The Hazelhurst Hulk is a abusive narcissist! I don’t think Michael scammed her, maybe he did want to be in US, but I think he cared for her. But she is ABUSIVE, and has been. TLC kicked Mahmoud and Nicole off the show for for DV.

I cannot knock Loren, she’s empathetic and Angezilla is good at playing victim. She almost bullies you into being on her side.
