It’s Over! ‘The Valley’ Star Brittany Cartwright Officially Files for Divorce From Jax Taylor; Requests Custody of Their Son Cruz

“This marriage can rot in hell, Jax!”

Brittany Cartwright‘s marriage to Jax Taylor is officially over.

TMZ broke the news that the former star of Vanderpump Rules filed for divorce on Tuesday, following a six-month separation from her husband. The divorce documents— which The Ashley has obtained— were filed in Los Angeles County at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. Brittany lists “irreconcilable differences” as her reason for asking to divorce Jax, to whom she’s been married to for four-and-a-half years and shares son Cruz with.

As fans know, Brittany moved out of the home she shared with Jax back in February, stating that she needed some space and that she wanted Jax to work on himself before they could get back together.

“Listen, I love Jax so much, I really do,” she said in early March. “I just want the best for me and for my son, at this point, so that’s, like, my main focus. But, for sure, if he switches some things and changes some things about his life, then maybe we can get back together, but right now, I just don’t know.”

Jax, however, seemed very optimistic that he and Brittany would reunite, and even initially downplayed the split. In June— after the Season 1 finale of The Valley aired– Jax insisted that he and Britt were “working things out.”

What Brittany thinks every time she looks at Jax…probably.

In late July, Jax checked himself into a mental health treatment center for 30 days. He recently finished his treatment and began filming scenes for ‘The Valley’ Season 2.

In her divorce filing, Brittany states that she and Jax officially separated on January 24, 2024. (The news of the split didn’t go public until February, however.)

According to the court documents she filed, Brittany is seeking primary legal and physical custody of Cruz and wants visitation for Jax. She did not make any mention of child support requests in the documents she filed.

She is also asking that the court prevent either party from seeking spousal support from the other. The Ashley can also confirm that Brittany is asking the court to rule that she and Jax are each responsible for their own court and attorney’s fees. However, she does state that she “reserves the right to request reimbursement and credits and any other relief that the Court deems equitable, just and proper in this manner.”

No future hearing has been scheduled yet.

Jax has not yet publicly commented on the divorce filing. He has 30 calendar days to respond to the legal summons filed by Brittany on Tuesday.

The Ashley will update this story when more info is available. Stay tuned…

  1. Jax is a narcissist, a liar, and is one of the guys that feels he doesn’t have to respect all women. Should Brittany have married him? No, he cheated! But believe it or not I think as he got older, and his dad died, Jax was looking for a more traditional woman, but in a bombshell’s body. He thought he found that in Brittany, being from a Kentucky conservative family. Unfortunately Brittany got dragged into L.A life, the partying, the drinking, the surgery, the social life. I think Jax really wanted someone who would participate in his life on TV, would look beautiful, and be a good mom to his kids while staying home and being a more traditional wife. Someone who would let him be the star. She just wasn’t that person. She also gained a ton of weight, and he’s someone who really values looks. So not surprised they stopped having sex. They are better divorced, but hopefully Jax is able to find that person. I think if Brittany had been all those things, he would have respected and loved her more. It looks like he couldn’t stand her and just didn’t care to even treat her right.

  2. I hope she goes through with it. She should have never married him. She can do WAAAAY better. He’s the lowest bar.

  3. Fake as hell, called it weeks ago even said she would file for divorce not go through with it because he made her promises to change (there was nothing to change) or go through with it only to get back together and have another FREE wedding on TLC for ratings. Wait for it, it’s coming.
