Amy Slaton Halterman’s Labor Day holiday ended with the TLC star getting arrested and charged with drug possession and child endangerment.
According to the New York Post, deputies from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call on Monday at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, Tennessee, where a guest had reportedly been bitten by a camel. (No, seriously.)
Upon their arrival, deputies were reportedly “immediately overtaken by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle,” ultimately leading to the arrest of both Amy and her boyfriend Brian Scott Lovvorn.
Both Amy and Brian delivered some quality muggies.
The pair was charged with illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs and two counts of child endangerment.
(Amy’s current boyfriend is not the same man she introduced fans to on social media in November; her previous boyfriend’s name was Tony Rodgers.)
As fans of “1000-Lb. Sisters” know, Amy shares sons Glenn and Gage with her ex-husband, Michael Halterman, from who she divorced in 2023. It was not confirmed if Amy and Michael’s children were with Amy and Brian at the time of the arrest; however, the charges against the pair note that the children with the couple at the time of the arrest were under the age of nine, so it’s likely the kids were Amy’s.
Amy and Brian were booked at the Crocket County Jail, where they are currently being held.
Amy’s arrest comes just over a year after her sister, Tammy Slaton, was arrested in Kentucky and charged with one count of possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
UPDATE! According to new photos posted by TMZ on Tuesday, Amy was taken from the zoo on a stretcher. She was reportedly nursing an injury that she claims was caused by a camel bite.
Before that, though, cops called to the scene for the camel bite allegedly found drugs— which, according to TMZ were psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana– in Amy’s car with her, Brian and two kids. (Because kids were in the car when the drugs were allegedly found, both Amy and Brian were charged with two counts of child endangerment.)
“We’re told the drugs were in plain sight,” the site reported.
In addition, one of the owners of the Tennessee Safari Park– where the incident took place— is skeptical of Amy’s claims that she sustained a bite there. Jon Conley told TMZ that Amy’s wound does not look like a camel bite.
“The cut above her elbow is not indicative of a camel bite, because the skin is fileted open and there’s no bruised tissue,” the site reported.
Jon also claimed that no one has ever been bitten by a camel at the park— which features a drive-through safari and a walk-through zoo where people can feed animals.
“Conley says the park has thousands of guests each year and no one has ever been bitten by a camel … and the zoo couldn’t find any surveillance video backing up Amy’s camel bite claim,” TMZ reported. “Jon also says Amy was unable to explain where in the park she was allegedly bitten.”
Amy’s sister, Tammy, posted a video on Tuesday in which she talked about her weight loss journey and personal growth. She did not, however, mention Amy or her arrest, and she didn’t respond to the many questions she received about her sister from fans in the post’s comment section.

I would bet that her family is angry with her. Not only has she neglected her children but one of them will be required to pick up the slack and should ASAP! Probably not the first time she’s been under the influence around her kids. The money train will be most likely disappear also.
Get those kids away from her, her ex, or her mother.
Lord have mercy, with how they appear I did not expect the odor to be drug-related but more along the lines of hygiene. The rich seam of humor that can be mined from this 😮💨
What a moron- who does mushrooms and goes anywhere in public, with their kids…? Are you kidding me?! And I assume they drove there since they were found in her vehicle. Even when I was experimenting with drugs and drinking, I would never drive on psychedelics- ESPECIALLY with my kids. And I’m sorry but not really- I think Amy is hella scary looking. Her and her lazy eye and just… her face. She looks like a deranged troll. This mugshot did not disappoint. Yuck. I have never liked her or Tammy, but at least Tammy is getting her shit together.
Oh my god. A “deranged troll.” That is hilarious. Thank you for the laugh!
But did a camel actually bite her, or was she hallucinating?? It’s so stupid to be charged like she was overbeat. Like our parents who drink alcohol or have alcohol in the home.Who go out and have one drink?Get charged with neglect an endangerment???
You’re comparing spaceships to walnuts here. Shrooms aren’t like drinking one drink, or having alcohol in the house. You can’t possibly be serious with that comparison, lmao.
The charges are appropriate for the actions, and frankly, they’re a bit lenient if you ask me. Shrooms are can be pretty dangerous in the wrong hands, definitely damn dangerous if you’re driving, and way beyond dangerous in the hands of children.
I’m not judging the consumption of shrooms, provided people do so responsibly, that’s their choice. But I know the effects pretty damn well, and the last thing you should be doing is driving, being responsible for the lives of others (especially kids) or going out in public, lmao.
SOOOOOOO very different! The marijuana, yeah that’s one thing. But she had SHROOMS. It’s insane that you’re really comparing the two.
Why would she bite a camel?! lolol
LMAO stop it hahahaha
munchies man…
I can honestly say I have never been so high that camel sounded like a good snack.
She probably thought she missed one of her 12 daily meals!!!!! LOL!!
I used to like Amy, but she went way downhill last season and it’s apparently continued. Those poor boys.
Why were the police called over a camel bite? That seems more like an EMT thing? In fact, I’d think the zoo would have some sort of clinic that could handle a bite since they probably happen somewhat regularly. Really looking forward to The Ashley getting us an update on this one.
Police are always dispatched along with EMT when an incident occurs at a zoo/animal park, they go hand in hand. This is especially the case if a potentially angry/bitey animal is involved.
It’s not likely at all that a camel actually bit her though. A camel bite bruises up really fast, and has a pretty distinct pattern. Those suckers have some chompers on them. Even “gentle” camel nips are not at all gentle, lol. IF by some odd rip in the space time continuum a camel did bite her, she probably did something to cause it, especially if she’s tripping balls on shrooms. It’s hard to tell from the photos if she is, because she often looks like she’s tripping balls.
Is there anyone in the US that is not involved in drugs or getting arrested?
I’m not! 🙋🏼♀️
right here, me!
I am clean/sober too! It’s “interesting” that when anything crazy happens, or when someone is arrested, that often they are drunk/under the influence of something… I’d like to hear more details… since she/they was/were charged with endangering a child/neglect… Really would like to know why. I would assume maybe because when you do mushrooms, you aren’t exactly in your right mind. Shoot, I used to do all kinds of stuff and drink and I would NEVER, EVER, drive or go out in public with my kids while on Mushrooms… She’s stupid. And I’d like to echo Farrah’s Lips comment… Was she hallucinating? I could see it… Seriously!
Yes, the vast majority of the country actually, lmao.
