Amy Slaton‘s, um, wild day at a Tennessee zoo ended with her and her boyfriend in jail, Amy nursing an alleged “camel bite” and her siblings being left to clean up her mess.
People reported on Wednesday that Amy’s sister (and 1000-lb. Sisters co-star) Tammy Slaton was on-hand to pick up Amy’s two children (sons Gage and Glenn) after Amy was arrested for illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI narcotics, as well as two counts of child endangerment.
As The Ashley previously reported, Amy and her boyfriend Brian Lovvorn were hauled off to the clink on Monday by cops who were called to the Tennessee Safari Park to investigate a guest with an alleged camel bite (who turned out to by Amy). Upon their arrival, deputies were reportedly “immediately overtaken by suspicious odors coming from” the car that Amy, Brian and Amy’s two kids were in. According to TMZ, psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana were found in the car, causing police to take both adults into custody.
According to Crockett County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Stephen Sutton, the drugs allegedly in the car were out “in plain sight.” The spokesperson also confirmed that Amy received medical attention for her wound (which the safari park’s owner claims is unlikely to actually be a camel bite) at the scene. Officers responding to the scene allegedly discovered “what they believed to be mushrooms” and “what they believed to be marijuana” inside Slaton’s vehicle, Sutton said. Sutton alleged that after officers smelled marijuana coming from the car, they saw drugs out “in plain sight” and searched the vehicle.
Tammy— who has not yet publicly commented on her sister’s arrest, despite being active on social media recently— was called in to pick up Gage and Glenn following Amy’s arrest. It is unknown if she currently has the kids, or if they were turned over to their father, Michael Halterman.
Amy’s brother, Chris Combs, also got involved after the arrest. People reports that it was Chris who picked up both Amy and her boyfriend Brian after they were released on $10,000 bonds. Photos published by The Sun on Wednesday showed Amy and Brian were holding hands as they exited the police station.
“They left the jail at 3:19 pm CT and are due in court Thursday [at] 8:30 am before general sessions judge Paul Conley,” the spokesperson told the outlet.
It is unknown if Amy and Tammy’s show, “1000-lb. Sisters” will continue. The fifth season concluded in February, and the sisters have yet to announce if they’ll be doing another season.
UPDATE! On Thursday, Amy and her boyfriend Brian attended their first court dates in Tennessee. According to Action News 5, Amy and Brian were arraigned on the charges, with Amy both pleading not guilty to all charges.
In video footage filmed outside the courthouse, Amy was seen with her lawyer, as well as her sister Amanda Halterman. She refused to comment on the court hearing or charges, though.
Amy’s attorney did comment on speculation that the wound Amy sustained at the zoo was not from a camel bite. As The Ashley previously reported, the zoo’s owner claimed that Amy’s injury was not consistent with the mark a camel bite would leave. On Thursday, Amy’s lawyer insisted to TMZ that Amy was, indeed, chomped by a camel. The lawyer also thanked Amy’s fans for sending the TLC star “love and support” over the last few days.
Amy is due back in court on November 7.

That is 100% NOT a camel bite. That is an “I was tripping balls and injured myself in a really stupid way and it caused my (gruesome description ahead warning…) skin to get flayed on something” injury. Camel bites don’t look even remotely like that, in fact, no animal bite would. I flayed my thigh like that on zebra muscles as a teen when I jumped off a pier. I was too short to reach the top of the pier when I tried to climb back up so my friends sent down the end of a towel and yanked my ass back up. Those suckers are sharp af, and you need something with a sharp edge to get a flay like that. Camel teeth don’t even have the right surface to cause that type of damage.
Those children need to be placed on foster care. Her ex would still be a better parent than her, despite his own shortcomings, but still not a good enough parent for those boys. Putting them in Tammy’s hands, even temporarily, is no better than them being in Amy’s care.
Lastly, GOOD cancel the damn show, it should be cancelled anyway. Despite what people may want to think about Tammy and the kind of person she is portraying now, she’s STILL a shitty, lazy human being, just like Amy, and neither one of them should be getting paid to sit on their asses and do nothing at all. They are both perfectly capable of holding down a normal job, so they should. Stop coddling assholes, it prevents them from utilizing that meat motor that sits inside their otherwise mostly empty skulls for critical thinking, accountability and personal responsibility processes.
Thank God for camel bite. How long have these boys been inhaling marajuana from mom and boyfriend. CPS better not put them back with Amy
I don’t watch the show but I’ve seen a couple of episodes and it was enough for me. It didn’t take me very long to realize the only people with any common sense are the feisty blonde sister and the brother.

TLC will continue the show as this family is a circus. I’m betting they were rolling cameras when this happened. If not, they are sad they missed the shot! Skeezy network, keeps them in poverty while they take in millions! They can’t even help Tammy with her missing teeth? Dang!

I never in a million years thought I would say this but thank God for Tammy. Tammy clearly loves Amy’s children like they are her own. During this last season you see everyone but Amy taking care of the boys. Then Amy cries in a corner about how hard it is to raise her boys “by herself”. I really hope that no one is stupid enough to give those boys over to Amy’s ex husband. He is more of a sloth than she is and that’s saying something!
And WTF is tripping on mushrooms in public with two kids in tow at a zoo of all places? Amy will be lucky if she doesn’t temporarily lose custody of the boys. What a mess for these kids to grow up in.
Amy down graded for sure. But Tammy will be the one who suffers the most since the show will proably be cancelled. Might be time to get jobs and for Amy to get rehab and family counseling
