Lala Kent is officially a mom of two.
The Vanderpump Rules star announced the arrival of her second daughter Wednesday on social media, posting a video to Instagram Stories that featured only audio of the baby being born.
“Welcome into the world, my love,” Lala posted to her Instagram Story.
According to Us Weekly, Lala gave birth the day before, on Tuesday, September 3.
Lala has yet to reveal the name of her second child, though she often referred to her baby as “Baby S” throughout her pregnancy. As fans of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ know, Lala is also a mom to daughter Ocean, whom she welcomed in March 2021 with then-fiancé Randall Emmett.
Unlike her first pregnancy, Lala opted use a sperm donor for her second child, revealing earlier this year that she underwent intrauterine insemination (IUI)– a fertility treatment that entails having prepped sperm surgically placed into a woman’s uterus to fertilize her egg.
“It’s a road that I never thought I would be going down,” Lala said in January of IUI. “I really saw myself in the cookie-cutter relationship and creating a family, but now that the universe has other plans for me, I’m so grateful [IUI] was an option. I will not gamble on me having my child. And I just don’t think that finding a partner and falling in love with someone has anything to do with bringing a child into the world. You don’t need a man to do it.”
During an interview on Scheana Shay‘s Scheananigans podcast in November 2022, Lala made it clear that her plans were to go it alone for Baby No. 2.
“I will not even attempt to try and do it a different way. I don’t want another person involved,” she said. “There’s such a high chance of it not working out, especially where we live. I’m not taking the chance. Like, I am so scarred from all of this s**t that has happened in my life [with Randall].”
In Season 11 of ‘Vanderpump Rules,’ viewers watched Lala select her donor with the help of some of her co-stars. In March, she officially announced her pregnancy.
“I’m expanding my pod,” the former SUR hostess announced on social media, along with a plug for the company she’s in partnership with. “A @MaryRuthOrganics cheers to a new addition to my little family.”
During a March episode of her Give Them Lala podcast, Lala provided listeners with some insight on what she was looking for in a sperm donor.
“I don’t care about looks and you know, genetics are fickle. You could have two people from the same mom and dad and they look nothing alike. I get that,” she said, admitting that she did ask what the donor looked like physically.
“I was like, ‘I would prefer that this baby kind of have the same aesthetic look as me, my mom [and] Ocean.’ So, when they come into this world, it’s not like, ‘You don’t have a dad because I got you from a donor,’” she said, adding that she will do everything she can to ensure that Baby No. 2 doesn’t suffer any hardships as a result of her choice to have them solo.
During her pregnancy, Lala also revealed that she had “a lot of sperm left over” from her donor and could “always go for round three” if she decides to expand her family later on.
It’s unknown if the birth of Lala’s second child will be documented in Season 12 of ‘Vanderpump Rules,’ as the Bravo series remains “on pause.”
UPDATE! Lala has revealed that her daughter’s name is Sosa. According to BabyNames.com, it is a Portuguese surname that means “from the salt water.” Lala has not yet revealed her daughter’s middle name.
