Kylen Smith and Jason Korpi— who are perhaps the most-controversial couple ever to come from the TLC show Unexpected— have reportedly welcomed their second child.
Photos posted to Jason’s Snapchat Story on Tuesday (and later reposted on the @TheTLCUnexpected Instagram page) show Kylen holding a newborn baby girl, as well as Jason and the couple’s son Xavier gathered around the baby.
“My heart,” Jason wrote on one of the photos’ captions. In another photo caption, Jason revealed that the baby has been named Oakley Renae Korpi.

Jason quickly became one of the show’s most-despised stars when he and Kylen appeared during Season 5 to document her pregnancy with Xavier. Throughout the season, Jason had been criticized by viewers for controlling Kylen and keeping her away from her family (among other things.) However, things escalated to alarming new levels during the episode in which Kylen gave birth to Xavier, when viewers watched as Jason became verbally abusive to Kylen while she was in labor.
First, Jason wouldn’t allow Kylen to have a hospital birth, insisting that she have a medication-free birth at home. When Kylen’s midwives demanded she go to the hospital because she was in distress, Jason threw a fit and waited to take his girlfriend there.
Jason went on to forbid Kylen from getting an epidural to help with labor exhaustion (calling her a “drug addict” and “pu**y” for wanting one). He became so abusive that he was ultimately kicked out of the hospital.
As if viewers didn’t already have enough reasons to be alarmed by Jason’s behavior, he ended up getting arrested right as Kylen was about to give birth to Xavier in August 2021. According to Starcasm, police responded to a disturbance call at 5 a.m. on the same street as the hospital Kylen would give birth in (and where Jason would ultimately be arrested). While the cops didn’t arrest Jason for his behavior at the hospital, they did discover that he had an outstanding warrant from a May 2019 reckless driving arrest. The charge was later reduced to negligent driving and he was found guilty in November 2019.
Kylen and Jason have kept a low profile online since appearing on the show in 2022, although Jason occasionally posts photos on his Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat accounts.

On @TheTLCUnexpected‘s Instagram post about Kylen and Jason’s new baby, fellow ‘Unexpected’ star Rilah Ferrer gave her thoughts on the couple bringing another baby into the world.
“Babies are blessings I get it and I’ve seen a lot of girls have babies and s**ty situations but this is beyond s**ty. This is a horrible situation,” she wrote in the post’s comment section. “I hope CPS gets involved because there’s no way that man changed. HE IS ABUSIVE . those kids do not deserve that.”
Rilah— who appeared on Season 3 with her then-boyfriend Anthony Vanelli— went on to scold Kylen for staying with Jason despite his behavior.
“He did not magically change overnight .. shame on Kylen for keeping her son in that situation AND BIRTHING ANOTHER baby into her abusive situation,” she wrote. “A real mother will find a way and get her kids out AND KNOW THEY DESERVE BETTER… she is a MOTHER NOW. She needs to pull up her big girl panties and know what’s best for her and those kids…
“I had a[n] abusive baby daddy too,” she continued. “When he tried that crazy s**t I KNEW that this is not what I will subject my daughter to AND LEFT. Never went back. She needs to do better fr.”
Kylen and Jason have yet to publicly confirm their baby news.

Sounds like he needs a 12 inch softball inserted where the sun doesn’t shine for a good 24 hours and see how well he does with that and not having an epidural.
I really dislike rilah’s judgment. Not everyone’s situation is the same and rilah using it to brag about how AHE left her abusive BD so why couldn’t Kylen, is so disgusting. Stfu rilah.

If I remember right her Dad had a terminal illness and her mother was consumed with taking care of him. When they did have limited interaction on the show Jason was abusive to them. Kylen did nothing to step in. And both of her parents didn’t want to make waves. Jason treated his own parents horribly and they let him get away with it. Then Kylen and Jason’s parents defended the asshole at the reunion. He will never change. He won’t see the need because everyone around him acts scared of him.

Jason reminded me so much of my ex-husband that I had a hard time watching that season. So many similarities with how he started out before he became physically abusive and eventually tried to kill me while I was pregnant with our third baby. I saw a lot of myself in Kylen, Jason has broken the poor girl and it’s hard after all that to convince yourself that you’re able to leave. Rilah needs to lighten up on Kylen because she has no idea what her exact situation is like. My ex-husband would use coercion to make the next baby to help keep me trapped and threaten to kill me if I ever attempted to leave. I pray that Kylen can find the courage and the means to safely get herself and those babies away from him sooner rather than later because I can only imagine he’s gotten worse since we last saw them.
