As Kody Brown continues his victim tour on the latest season of Sister Wives, one of his three ex-wives, Janelle Brown, revealed on the latest episode just how absent of a father and grandfather Kody has been.
During a completely genuine and not at all fabricated for the show heated discussion with his only remaining wife Robyn on Sunday’s episode, Kody mentioned the recent “family wedding” he and the rest of the Brown family attended, where many of Kody’s children allegedly ignored him, including his and Janelle’s daughter Maddie Brown.
While recalling the tense family event, Kody claimed that Maddie “scuttled” her two children away from him at the wedding, presumably to avoid a run-in. He was also upset that he had to find out that she was pregnant with her third child when he saw her at the wedding.
“She never told me she was pregnant, she never told me she was gonna have a baby,” Kody continued.
In response to Kody’s comments about some of his children ignoring him at the wedding, Janelle explained to viewers that the only thing Kody’s children are upset with their father about is “the way he has treated his family.”
“The way he has completely like, ditched out,” she said, noting that Maddie doesn’t really have any contact with Kody at all. “She is very protective of her children. Kody has not been there since Evie was born and Evie’s three-and-a-half [years old].
“[Maddie] didn’t want [her dad] to just drop in and be like, ‘Oh, I’m your grandpa,’ and [the kids] be like, ‘What? Who is this guy?’” Janelle added.
As The Ashley previously told you, Janelle revealed earlier this season that Maddie– who is currently expecting her fourth child– no longer has a relationship with Kody or Robyn, allegedly due to Kody not being able to commit to being “a consistent presence” in her children’s lives.
Kody went on to claim on Sunday’s episode that it’s an unrealistic expectation for grandparents to be in their grandchildren’s lives all the time, “especially if you move your children to an entirely different coast”– referring to Maddie and husband Caleb Brush’s decision to move to North Carolina following the birth of their first child, Axel. (Maddie has stated during an interview last year that Janelle— as well as Christine Brown and other family members— have remained active in Maddie’s kids’ lives, despite living far from North Carolina.)
“I have work and a life in Flagstaff,” Kody argued.
During a November 2023 podcast interview, Maddie opened up about her decision to stop pursuing a relationship between Kody and her kids.
“They don’t [know who my dad is],” Madison said. “They don’t recognize him. Like I said… I’m not going to force you to have a relationship with my kids. They are a gift, and they are so amazing…When I stop working on that relationship, or stop making that relationship happen, or something happened and you’re not there, I can’t explain that to a six-year-old without their feelings getting hurt. Where there is unnecessary heartache, I’m not going to put that into their lives.”
(Maddie and Caleb were once very close to Kody. Not only did the couple have him perform their marriage ceremony, but they also gave their second daughter, Evangalynn, the middle name “Kodi,” as a tribute to Maddie’s father.)

Later during Sunday’s episode, Kody accused Maddie of creating additional tension between him and Janelle during their separation by participating in family gossip.
“They’re purposefully leaving me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I did not commit,” Kody said. “I am only guilty of not falling madly in love with their mothers. Well, [Maddie] actually called Janelle saying, ‘Dad said he didn’t love you.’”
Kody’s cold comments regarding Maddie and her family came after viewers watched him speak lovingly about his and ex-wife Christine Brown’s daughter Mykelti Brown, who had recently given birth to twin sons, Ace and Archer. (This was also after fans watched Robyn attend the birth of the twins and proceed to stay with Mykelti and husband Tony Padron for a few days after the twins’ arrival.)
“I’m having a difficult time connecting with all of my kids,” Kody said on the episode. “And of course, [the] twins being born is going to give us all something special, something maybe that heals, [and] helps to move things forward.
“I don’t know if it would heal anything between me and my ex-wives but I’m gonna have to go see those babies,” he continued. “I gotta see those grandkids, ya know. So I’m gonna be excited to go see them.”
As The Ashley reported, Mykelti has fallen out with Robyn since this episode was filmed in 2022. She recently stated that something that went down at the funeral for her brother Garrison were the reason for the estrangement.
“We have always been super-supportive of Robyn,” Mykelti said during a YouTube livestream last month. “Yes, lately it may seem as that has changed. There are things that happened during the recent funeral [for Garrison] that are the reason for that.”

Kody only really likes to attend events that focus ENTIRELY on HIM!! In visits with your kids and grandchildren, the focus is supposed to be on THEM, so Kody isn’t interested in that AT ALL! The only exception is Kody seems to feign attention to the children of the woman he’s currently BANGING! Sadly, Kody is rather typical in this regard! 👿🔥🔥 I’m sure ALL of Kody’s Non-Robyn kids are in some form of NO CONTACT with him!
The show is so thin on content, it’s turned into an hour long rehash of personal grudges and the obligatory cue to Robyn crying and Kody denying. Referring to the children he is estranged from as “these people.” Are these the same people you don’t acknowledge on their birth certificates?! Whose mothers paid for their food with food stamps but the government should stay out of your lives?! At least he admitted he screwed the pooch when he didn’t accompany his daughter for her spinal surgery. I suppose for Mr Martyr that’s growth.
I only have one question about this whole clan, were any of these wives and their children on welfare, food stamps, free medical care, that we the taxpayers had to pay, instead of Kody? As long as the show has been on the air I don’t recall ever seeing him go to work, I really want to check into this.

I think the wives except for Sobyn has struggled financially before the show started. Grody was to busy fixing his hair & wearing his visor driving around in the convertible. 🤢🤮
Yet dear Sobyn brought 30 grand in bills with her when she joined the family. So I would say she married mainly for the TV show and money. Christine had it right in the first episode, saying that sometimes when a woman joins a plyg family, she only wants the man, and it tears the family apart. Exactly what happened! Sobyn monopolized Kootie’s time from day 1, and didn’t give a flying f**k about the OG 3 wives and OG 13 kids that Kootie was responsible for!
Kody deals in guns so TLC has purposely avoided showing him working. This only came out because fans took photos of him selling at a gun convention a few years ago. And also yes. Some of the OG wives were on assistance. They used the “single mother” loophole because they weren’t legally married and he’s not on the birth certificates of all his kids.
They don’t show his work on the show b/c he sells guns and gun parts at gun shows.
Plus, they all make a lot of money from the show. They have plenty of money now.
But yes, before the show they were on assistance.

The only reason that Kody talks to Mykelti is because Mykelti is the only child to drop to her knees and kiss Robyn’s ring. Kody is bitter and childish. Even his comment on the first show of the new season that Briana and Aurora show their “loyalty” to him and Robyn. And none of his other kids are loyal to him. Why would they be?

Turns out he decided not to have a relationship with Mykelti’s kids either.
My parents live across the country from my kids and make sure to FaceTime every week. Tons of grandparents do this. Heck, Jenelle maintained a relationship despite still living in Arizona. Kody doesn’t want to actually put in the effort to maintain a relationship. That’s the issue.
Exactly which is what good grand parents do !! I have 4 total 2 live here where I live & 2 in another state which I make 100% sure to stay in their lives by going there & them visiting where I live. My grand parents were front & center in my life growing up and I have so many wonderful memories with them plus my aunts, uncles, great grandma, tons of cousins & I would not have changed one thing. They are all gone now but I was beyond blessed with my memories. Good for Christine, Janelle & all of the kids for protecting their littles from future heartache. Y’all did a great job Mom’s & be proud of the children that you all raised.
