These two– and many others– won’t be growing old (or oldER) together, after all.

While 2024 has been an exceptional year for viewers of reality TV, it’s been less than ideal for many couples who star on the most-talked about shows.

From Bachelor Nation to Mormon swingers, from Teen Moms to Netflix stars, divorces and breakups have run rampant throughout the year. There’s been amicable partings of ways, people who’ve pretended to go missing just to escape their one-time partner, and pretty much everything in between.

Keep reading to relive all the messy splits that have already gone down in 2024.

Rachel Lindsay & Bryan Abasolo (‘The Bachelorette’)

Bachelor Nation was stunned in January when Bryan filed for divorce from Rachel, whom he met on her season of The Bachelorette in 2017 and married two years later. According to Us Weekly, in his filing, Bryan requested spousal support from his estranged wife.

In May, the outlet obtained new court docs that revealed the duo was still living together amid the split. Two months later, Bryan got a legal victory when a court ordered Rachel to pay her ex more than $13,000 per month in spousal support, as well as shell out $20,000 for his legal fees, the outlet reported.

In separate interviews, both Rachel and Bryan alluded to limited time together as the reason for their split. While they agree on that, the contentious nature of the split has ramped up in recent months. In fact, in August, Bryan alleged that Rachel called him a “leech” in a text message, the outlet reported.

Jenelle Evans & David Eason (‘Teen Mom 2’)

The volatile former MTV couple set out on the road to divorce in February when Jenelle filed for legal separation from David. In the docs, which were obtained by The Ashley, Jenelle asked the court to grant her primary physical custody of their daughter, Ensley, order David to pay child support, and allow her to keep their shared house and property.

Jenelle cited David’s “disturbing behavior”—including his alleged physical assault towards her son, Jace, and his past decision to shoot their dog—as her reasons for the split. She additionally claimed that David was drinking excessively, alleged that he stole her car, and blasted him for allegedly refusing to work and spending her money.

The ‘Teen Mom: Next Chapter’ star asked the judge to require David to undergo a mental health evaluation before he’s allowed to visit Ensley. She also requested that he be required to get a job so he can pay child support, since he’s been happily (and voluntarily) unemployed for years.

In August, Jenelle won one legal fight as David was declared “not fit and proper” to care for Ensley. Thus, Jenelle was awarded temporary sole legal and physical custody of the seven-year-old.

Romantically, both Jenelle and David have moved on, the former with her manager, August Keen, and the latter with Kenleigh Heatwole. Jenelle’s new romance isn’t without drama, though, as he called 911 against her. August later recanted, and Jenelle has insisted that that night is “behind them.”

Angela Deem & Michael Ilesanmi (“90 Day Fiance”)

Michael sparked fan concern when he went missing in February. Soon, it was reported that Michael told police that he had left the home he shared with Angela out of fear for his life. Angela, who had asked Michael to leave Georgia and return to Nigeria before his disappearance, denied that she’d abused her husband.

Michael later claimed to Entertainment Tonight that he was treated like a “nobody” in Angela’s home, and said that it had “gotten to a point where I couldn’t just bear it anymore.” In the interview, he denied using Angela for a Green Card, and said that he would’ve left earlier if he wasn’t truly in love.

Angela went on to file for an annulment in August, accusing Michael of fraud. Michael, in turn, asked fans for financial help so that he could fight Angela in court. He wound up raising thousands of dollars, much to Angela’s dismay. With his raised money, Michael, who denied Angela’s claims, hired an attorney, and went on to request a divorce and spousal support.

Jax Taylor & Brittany Cartwright (‘The Valley’)

After years of drama from the Vanderpump Rules stars, Brittany finally cut Jax loose in February, explaining on the couple’s (then-shared) podcast that she made the decision to move herself and her son, Cruz, into another home “to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”

Brittany didn’t stay mum about who was to blame for the split, telling TMZ that, unless Jax “switches some things and changes some things” they wouldn’t be reconciling. One thing the volatile couple could agree on? The fact that split was for real, not a publicity stunt for their new show, The Valley, which had yet to premiere at the time.

In July, Jax sought mental health treatment. The following month, Brittany made their breakup official by filing for divorce. She requested primary legal and physical custody of their son, whom they welcomed in 2021, two years after they tied the knot.

Afterwards, Jax insisted that he understood Brittany’s decision and hoped they could be “amicable co-parents and even hopefully really, really good friends one day.” He also promised to be an “excellent ex-husband.”

He didn’t get off to a good start when he attempted to respond to Brittany’s court filing on his own, mistakenly writing that he was never legally married to Brittany, and granting her primary physical and legal counsel of their son. He has since hired a lawyer to clean up the mess.

Christine Quinn &  Christian Dumontet (‘Selling Sunset’)

The Selling Sunset alum’s marital drama began in March when her husband was arrested for domestic violence after an incident that involved their toddler son. He was arrested again less than two days later after he returned to the home he shared with his wife, thus violating Christine’s restraining order against him.

In dueling court docs, Christine and Christian described vastly different versions of the incident that led to his first arrest. Christine claimed that her husband threw objects at her, peed on the floor, and tossed dog feces at her. For his part, Christian alleged that Christine’s untrained dogs were to blame, alleging that after the pups urinated on his items, he got mad and threw a bag at a wall, not towards his wife or son.

Divorce proceedings soon got underway, with both Christine and Christian seeking sole custody of their son. Christine was eventually awarded the couple’s home. Afterwards, Christian claimed his estranged wife had failed to maintain the property, which she denied.

Christian scored a legal win in October when he was granted a mental health diversion in his criminal case, Us Weekly reported. If he successfully attends therapy, completes community service, and pays restitution, the misdemeanor case against him could be dismissed after one year.

Memphis Garrett & Christmas Abbott (‘Big Brother’)

The Big Brother alums were married for less than two years when Memphis filed for divorce from his wife in March. Memphis’ filing came one week after Christmas was granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order against him. Memphis has claimed that Christmas’ allegations were made up amid marital woes. As it all played out rumors about infidelity and lying swirled around both members of the pair.

In May, Christmas dismissed her petition to seek a restraining order against Memphis. However, she did not back down on her claims that Memphis was abusive to her during the marriage.

“While I loved Memphis, I believe our marriage was unhealthy and abusive,” she told TMZ in May. “I was granted temporary protection from the courts after demonstrating what I feel was domestic abuse. Though we are currently in divorce proceedings, we both put our families before everything else.

Christmas and her son (from another relationship) moved out of the family home, and Christmas stated that Memphis has agreed to have no contact with them.

“He has agreed to a court stipulation that he will no longer contact me, and I wish him well in the future,” she told TMZ

Their divorce case is currently still active; however, Christmas and Memphis were working on a Marital Settlement Agreement as of September 23.

Gerry Turner & Theresa Nist

After fans watched the first-ever Golden Bachelor fall in love with—and marry!—Theresa on TV, the couple shocked Bachelor Nation by announcing their divorce just four months after they exchanged vows. At the time, the duo blamed distance—Gerry lived in Indiana, while Theresa called New Jersey home—for many of their problems.

“We’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth,” Gerry said on Good Morning America, “and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”

Theresa spoke out on Instagram shortly thereafter.

“Sometimes things don’t go the way you planned and that’s okay,” she wrote. “I take so many positives away from this experience, most importantly and above all the incredible friends I now have in all of these amazing, wonderful women … the producers, the production crew and so many of you.”

Amber Portwood & Gary Wayt

Shortly after Gary’s staged proposal to the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star, he sparked concern by disappearing on his then-bride-to-be while on a trip in North Carolina. Amber reacted to Gary going missing by tearfully requesting prayers for her fiancé, who was officially listed as a missing person in the state.

All of Amber’s worrying was for nothing, though, as Gary had simply ghosted her by choice, and not gone missing as she’d feared. He later explained that a “toxic fight” had led him to walk out on Amber, whom he claimed tried to stop him from leaving by grabbing his possessions. The couple officially called off their engagement in June. While Gary has moved on romantically, Amber has not.

Christina Haack & Josh Hall

The HGTV stars’ short-lived marriage didn’t work, marking Divorce No. 3 for Christina. Both Christina and Josh filed for divorce in July after only two years of marriage and two shows together (Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country).

At the time of the divorce filing, the duo was set to star on HGTV’s The Flip Off alongside Christina’s first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his second wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. The new show was to have Christina and Josh square off with Tarek and Heather in a design competition. The show had just started filming when the divorce filing occurred, and Josh was quickly cut out of it.

Christina and Josh’s divorce has gotten downright nasty. Christina accused Josh of transferring $35,000 of her money to his account, which he denied. Christina kept the digs coming, though, calling Josh “an insecure man with a large ego” on her Instagram Story.

Christina put the mudslinging on hold long enough to enlist a life coach, to whom she promised she’d never give away her peace again. Later—apparently on one of the life coach’s off days—Christina called her ex a “gold digging little biatch” on Instagram. In the same post, Christina revealed that she had put her Tennessee home up for sale. That move wasn’t OK with Josh, though, who has filed a temporary emergency court order to try and stop the sale.

Artem Chigventsev (‘DWTS’) & Nikki Bella (‘Total Bellas’)

The couple’s marital woes began in August when the former Dancing With the Stars pro was arrested for corporal injury to spouse. Artem will not face criminal charges as a result of the incident, and he has claimed that it was actually his wife who was the aggressor in the situation, which she denies.

Days after the incident, the Total Bellas alum filed for divorce from her husband of two years, with whom she shares four-year-old son, Matteo. People obtained the divorce docs, in which Nikki cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. She also requested legal and physical custody of their son, and asked that neither party be awarded spousal support.

Artem wasn’t on-board with that plan, according to docs obtained by the outlet. In his filing, Artem asked for joint custody of their kid and requested that he receive spousal support from his ex. The pair continued to trade barbs in court docs, before they were each awarded restraining orders against each other, the outlet reported.

Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon & Josh Efird (‘Mama June: Family Crisis’)

‘Mama June’ fans were shocked when Pumpkin filed for divorce from her husband of six years back in August, seemingly out of nowhere. The pair kept things amicable, agreeing to share custody of their four kids and split expenses related to the little ones. They each agreed to keep their own cars and bank accounts, too, and Pumpkin and Josh’s divorce was finalized in September.

Both Pumpkin and Josh have moved on. She is dating Josh’s cousin, Darrin Kitchens. Josh is now with a girl named Keely, who is reportedly pregnant with Darrin’s child.

Leah Remini & Angelo Pagan (‘Leah Remini: It’s All Relative’)

The It’s All Relative duo announced their split with a joint statement in August, after 28 years together and 21 years of marriage.

“This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us,” they wrote. “We are proud of how we have worked through this together.”

They insisted that they’ll still be “gathering as a family” with their 20-year-old daughter, Sofia, before explaining the reason for their decision to divorce.

“We both changed, as people do, and we got used to playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore,” they wrote. “After a lot of effort and consideration, we’ve decided to take this step, which reflects who we are today.”

One week later, the pair officially filed for divorce, according to court docs obtained by E! News. Neither party requested spousal support, and the amicable exes said they’d divide their property at a later date.

Rachel Zoe & Rodger Berman (‘The Rachel Zoe Project’)

Rachel and Rodger– who were married for 26 years and together for 33— announced their split in a joint September statement. The Rachel Zoe Project alums described the decision to end their marriage as “mutual.” Rachel and Rodger added that their two sons are their priority in the days ahead.

“This divorce was a long time coming. There is no scandal or smoking gun, it’s more death by a thousand cuts,” a source told Us Weekly shortly thereafter. “Their main issues were mixing their personal and professional lives too much. Rodger is the president of her company, so they had to have hard conversations about their marriage and about the business that weighed on their relationship.”

The source added, “Rachel spent the summer in the Hamptons and Rodger was rarely [there], and they realized that they are better apart than together. Also, the kids are older now, so they felt more comfortable separating because of that.”

Taylor Frankie Paul & Dakota Mortensen (‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’)

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars made headlines during their time on the Hulu series, thanks to their tumultuous romance. In the pilot episode alone, Taylor exposed a swinging scandal, had a miscarriage, got pregnant by Dakota, and got arrested for domestic violence.

While things between the duo appeared to have settled after the show’s September premiere, several worrying TikToks convinced fans that the duo was on the rocks once more. Taylor confirmed as much to Us Weekly shortly thereafter, telling the mag that she and Dakota “are not fully together, but not fully done,” which left her feeling “heartbroken.”
