Jay Cutler, former NFL star (and the ex-husband of Kristin Cavallari), was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee, on Thursday for DUI and gun possession, TMZ reports.
According to the outlet, police responded to a call around 5 p.m. on Thursday regarding a white truck that had allegedly rear-ended another car and attempted to pay the other driver $2,000 to not contact the police. Upon their arrival, cops claim to have found the former Very Cavallari star staggering around, slurring his words and smelling of alcohol.
While Jay initially told police he had not had anything to drink, he later told them he had a little to drink. He went on to turn down the field sobriety tests and was then handcuffed. (Because he refused to take field sobriety tests, Jay was reportedly taken to a hospital to provide a blood sample to determine his BAC, though the results of the blood sample have not been released.)
During a search of Jay’s vehicle, police discovered a rifle in the backseat, as well as a loaded Glock handgun in the center console.
Jay was arrested for DUI, Possession of a Handgun While Under the Influence, Failure to Exercise Due Care and Violation of Implied Consent Law. The 41 year-old was booked into the Williamson County Jail, where he delivered this fine mugshot.
After posting $5,000 bond, Jay was released Thursday night.
Kristin and Jay– who share three children— announced their split in April 2020 and the pair’s divorce was finalized in 2022.
That same year, the retired quarterback announced the launch of Gratis Brewing, a “high-quality, clean beer” brewed in Nashville, Tennessee.
Jay’s court date is set for January 2025.
Kristin has yet to comment on her ex-husband’s arrest, though she’s been known to discuss her exes’ DUI arrests in the past, so stay tuned.
