Todd Chrisley has reportedly been dismissed from his job at the chapel inside FPC Pensacola, where the former Chrisley Knows Best star is currently serving a 12-year sentence for tax evasion and fraud crimes.
Todd’s attorney, Jay Surgent, told TMZ that Todd had been working an administrative role at the prison chapel, where his duties included assisting a chaplain and helping to set up church services for inmates of different faiths. While Todd’s attorney claims his client was doing a good job in the position, Todd was recently relieved of his duties by prison officials.
According to his attorney, Todd is hoping to get his job at the chapel back soon; however, in the meantime, he is still permitted to attend religious services.
Todd’s attorney went on to tell the outlet that, before being dismissed from his chapel gig, Todd had been working out of a small office located next to the prison’s Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP), where he would sometimes speak to inmates in the RDAP program. The attorney said he believes that, because inmates in the RDAP program spend part of their time inside prison and part of their time outside of prison, officials at the prison didn’t want Todd communicating with them, as the inmates have access to the outside world.
While it’s unclear what Todd was speaking to the inmates in the RDAP program about, Todd’s attorney said prison officials weren’t on-board with Todd communicating with those inmates in any capacity.
In an interview with People, Todd’s attorney confirmed that Todd is “very disappointed and upset that he can no longer participate in the administration of the set-up for religious services at Pensacola, which includes Christian, Jewish, and Muslim services.”
The attorney also stated that Todd feels that he was fired “without cause.” However, he is apparently not letting his firing get him down.
“[It] has not affected his firm belief that in the end, God will work things out for him, Julie, and his family,” Todd’s attorney stated.
When asked about the details of Todd’s dismissal from his position in the prison chapel, a rep for the Federal Bureau of Prisons told TMZ, “For privacy reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including their work detail assignments.”
While it’s unknown how long Todd had been working at the prison chapel, his daughter Savannah Chrisley revealed in October 2023 that her dad had been teaching a variety of classes while behind bars, including a course on finance.
“Dad’s definitely taught some classes, too,” Savannah told listeners on her Unlocked podcast. “Trauma is one of them. I think another one was a finance class, which, how ironic?
“Our whole system is out of whack,” she added. “Nothing makes sense.”
As The Ashley previously told you, both Todd and his wife Julie (who is also currently incarcerated) had their sentences reduced in September 2023– two years off for Todd and 14 months off for Julie– for good behavior and for participating in certain prison programs and activities.
The former reality TV couple have reportedly benefitted from the First Step Act, which was created to help prisoners acclimate back into society by taking and/or teaching classes behind bars. By taking part in this program, inmates are also able to shorten their prison stay, as both Todd and Julie were able to do last year.

My guess was he was caught hooking up with other inmates in said office.
Sorry, not sorry! There are rules for a reason and he broke them AGAIN for his own stupidity. Seriously, he’s teaching financial advice?! What in the actual fuck?! And the daughter 🤮 what a shitshow of a dysfunctional family! But, here I am watching, reading, waiting and laughing all in the comfort of my own non-criminal home 🫶🏻
Cue Savannah doing yet another podcast about her poor innocent persecuted father being so discriminated against in prison.🙄
Ugh, she’s almost as insufferable as Brittany Mahomes 🤮
I still LOVE your name btw. Hug your mom for me, it’s beautiful 🫶🏻
