Bar Smith’s Trial Date Pushed to March 2025; ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ Dad Remains Locked Up (Exclusive Details)

“Me (and all of my eyebrows) will be there…”

Bar Smith and his four eyebrows will not go to trial until next spring after a motion to continue the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter dad’s case was granted last week

Starcasm broke the news that Bar’s trial— which was scheduled to begin October 21– has been moved to March 31, 2025.

The estranged husband and baby daddy of Ashley Jones is now scheduled for a status check hearing on March 4, with his trial to take place later that month on March 31.

According to court documents obtained by The Ashley, it was Bar’s public defender who, on October 3, filed a motion in court to have the trial be moved from October 21 date to a later date. In the court docs, Bar’s attorney stated that the State adding a new, fourth charge of Aggravated Stalking to the ‘Teen Mom’ dad’s already hefty list of charges—was part of the reason a later court date was needed.

“Aggravated Stalking is alleged to have taken place from 2017 to July of 2024, a period of seven years,” the court docs read. “The previous charges in this case were alleged to have occurred in a single day in July of 2024. The massive expansion of the time period that the new charge is alleged to have occurred during has greatly expanded the amount of investigation that must be conducted in this case.

“Furthermore, the nature of the charge of Aggravated Stalking greatly increases the realm of evidence that must be investigated in order for defense counsel to be adequately prepared for trial.

Bar’s attorney has also filed a Writ of Habeas Corpus which he hopes will result in some of Bar’s charges being dismissed.

“Let me know if you need Mama to testify that you should get that Habit Corpse thing, ok son? I got you!”

“Before full trial preparation can begin, defense counsel must know what charges Mr. Lockettsmith will be facing at trail,” Bar’s attorney stated in the filing.

In the same filing, Bar’s attorney argued that all four of Bar’s charges should be dismissed.

In the court docs filed on October 3 and obtained by The Ashley, Bar’s attorney argues that Count 1– Second Degree Kidnapping— must be dismissed. He also provides arguments for why Count 2— Coercion Constituting Domestic Violence— needs to be dismissed.

“No physical force of threats of immediate physical force were used to barricade the door or to take Ms. Jones’ electronic devices,” he states.

Bar’s attorney also wants Count 3– Residential Burglary— to be dismissed, as he claims the court has to look outside the record presented in court to find reasons to charge Bar with that crime.

He also wants Count 4– Aggravated Stalking— thrown out. He states that “substantive evidence is required to support each element of the Indictment.”

“The State argues that because the evidence that Mr. Lockettsmith physically hurt Ms. Jones in 2017, attempted to physically fight Ms. Jones’ parents in 2018 and /or 2020, belligerently and physically put hands on Ms. Jones and drove away with their child in California in January 2020, belligerently and recklessly discharged a firearm at Ms. Jones’ graduation party in California in May 2021, or threw water on Ms. Jones and violently destroyed property in her residence in December 2023, was introduced for the limited purpose to show how Ms. Jones felt, she was not required to introduce it as substantial evidence.”

“Based upon the forgoing argument, Mr. Lockettsmith respectfully requests that this court grant his petition and dismiss all charges,” the court docs states.

In the meantime, Bar will be staying in jail. His bond, which was previously $35,000 is now $250,000. Bar’s attorney reportedly plans to file a petition for a writ of mandamus, which can be used to compel a lower court to take action when there are no other remedies available.

Hard pass on the whole “feeling you” thing…

As The Ashley previously told you, Bar was arrested in Henderson, Nevada, on a slew of charges stemming from an incident that occurred between he and Ashley on July 7. Bar is facing charges that include Second Degree Kidnapping, Coercion Domestic Violence with the Threat of Using Physical Force and a misdemeanor charge for Harassment. He was also cited for owing at least $5,000 in child support.

Bar went before a judge in a Nevada courtroom a few months ago where he was hit with an additional felony charge for Residential Burglary Constituting Domestic Violence.

“How about embarrassment?”

Bar is also in the middle of a divorce after Ashley filed to officially end the couple’s marriage in late July. In her divorce paperwork, Ashley asked for sole custody of her and Bar’s daughter, Holly, and requested that the court determine the child support amount that Bar would be required to pay her.

“Business as usual, folks.”

Ashley is not seeking any spousal support from her soon-to-be former boo, nor is she requesting visitation for Bar regarding Holly, explaining in the documents that Bar is “in jail until further notice.”

“[Bar] is currently in jail awaiting trial for a DV case against myself,” she detailed. “He is in jail on multiple felony charges. Given that he is already on probation out of California for gun charges and he is [now] in Nevada custody on more serious charges I fear his decision making skills are very questionable.”

Bar and Ashley are set to go to court next month to settle their divorce.

  1. This says the stalking went on for 7 years.. isn’t their daughter around 7? They got married and had another pregnancy during that time, so he obviously wasn’t stalking her then if they were fully together
