Jarrett “JT” Thomas has exited Southern Charm after (nearly) two seasons to “work on next steps to recovery both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging and exhausting year.”
JT, who joined the cast of the Bravo series in Season 9, took to social media on Friday to announce that he had “resigned” from the show, which is currently in post-production on Season 10.
“Yesterday I informed Bravo that I will not be participating in the 2-3 remaining green room interviews remaining before [Season 10] airs 12/5,” JT wrote, noting that he had already completed approximately 9 “green room interviews” for the upcoming season.
“ … I no longer wish to participate in any ways moving forward with the TV show,” he continued. “I will leave it at that for now.. While I work on next steps to recover both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging & exhausting year.”
The announcement was met with many comments commending JT– who has Type 1 diabetes– for prioritizing his mental and physical health over the show. One of those supportive comments was from former ‘Southern Charm’ star Cameran Eubanks, who left the Bravo series in 2020 after six seasons.
“Nothing is more valuable than your peace,” Cameran wrote.
“Well, wish you well … Mental health is important and if you’re in a toxic environment then it’s important that you do what’s best for you,” a fan commented on JT’s post.
“Love to see you’re taking care of your mind and body,” another wrote. “That should come first before anything else. I will miss seeing you in future episodes but I understand and will see how it all pans out. Sending you lots of love!”
JT followed up the announcement of his ‘Southern Charm’ exit by posting a selfie to Instagram accompanied by a throwback photo of himself holding what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage, leading some to speculate that he may be focusing on his sobriety.
“One day at a time 💪,” JT’s caption read.
JT also “liked” a series of comments on the post, including one that specifically mentioned sobriety.
“[One day at a time,] brother! If sobriety is what you chose or chose you…. You will never turn back,” the comment read. “It’s the greatest gift life has ever given me!”
While JT won’t be around to finish filming his Season 10 interviews– nor will he presumably be in attendance for the Season 10 reunion– it appears he’s still enmeshed in some drama in the upcoming season.
The trailer for Season 10 shows JT involved in a romance with his co-star Venita Aspen; however, Deadline reports that after the trailer dropped in late October, a woman came forward on social media claiming that she and JT were dating while Season 10 was filming.
The allegation led some fans of the show to accuse JT of creating storylines, though it’s unclear if the alleged relationship had anything to do with him stepping away from the show.
Meanwhile, JT recently hinted that he may currently be in a relationship with someone. Last week he posted a series of photos featuring a woman named Ali Pereless, along with the caption “long overdue.” JT’s caption also included a heart emoji, though he noted with the hashtag that “it’s complicated.”
Season 10 of ‘Southern Charm’ premieres December 5 on Bravo. Watch the trailer for the upcoming season below.

He was fired, and he won’t be missed just wish he would take Venita with him.
I have never been a huge JT fan however I did enjoy the fact that he was the only one that consistently called Austen out on his bullshit. It definitely sounds to me like he needs to prioritize his mental health. I can’t imagine being on a reality TV show screams stability for someone’s mental health. And although Madison can be funny she also is toxic and seems to like to degrade people and talk down to them if she perceives their actions in a certain way. She has always seemed to take a particular dislike for JT which I could never figure out. I wish him well. Whether he is dealing with his sobriety or his mental health his best chance is to leave Southern Charm in the rear view.
