Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s split is proving to be exactly what Bravo fans predicted anything but amicable.
The Valley couple, who separated earlier this year and are now in the process of divorcing, recently sat down for back-to-back interviews on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, during which, both parties gave their respective takes on the events leading up to their split, as well as the status of their relationship since Brittany filed for divorce in August.
The podcast episodes revealed two very conflicting accounts from the former Vanderpump Rules couple, though Brittany is insisting that– despite what Jax alleged in his interview– she has not been reaching out to her estranged husband in an attempt to “hookup” with him.
Jax revealed this “hookup” claim while talking about his and Brittany’s coparenting relationship with podcast host Alex Baskin, who is also an executive producer on both ‘The Valley’ and ‘Vanderpump Rules.’ During the conversation, Jax accused Brittany of wanting to see him fail just so she could “prove everyone right,” before insisting that he hasn’t done anything wrong since leaving a mental health facility in August.
(As The Ashley previously told you, Jax checked into the facility in July, where he spent nearly a month receiving inpatient mental health treatment and was ultimately diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.)
While touting his alleged good behavior as of late, Jax went on to claim that he has actually “been overly nice” to Brittany since he left treatment.
“I’ve actually been nice to her more [now] than I was when I was married,” Jax claimed. “I go out of my way for her … and she says all these negative things about me, but yet she’ll call me, like, two days ago, ‘Come over, you want to have some drinks? Come over, you want to hook up?’”
Jax, who shares three-year-old son Cruz with Brittany, went on to double down on his claims of Brittany extending these invites to him, while also calling out Brittany for wanting him to keep her efforts a secret.
“Like, she’ll go out and publicly humiliate me and call me every name in the book, but three days ago she’s like, ‘Hey, you want to come over and have dinner? You want to come over and have drinks? Don’t tell anybody that I’m doing this,’” Jax alleged. “ … I don’t mean to blow her cover but you know, I’m not all that bad.
“She wouldn’t be calling me, she wouldn’t be saying, ‘Hey, let’s go to the pumpkin patch with Cruz, let’s go to Disney with Cruz, let’s take Cruz together to school,’ if I was that bad of a human being,” he added.
Following the release of Jax’s interview on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, Brittany took to Instagram to set the record straight on the “hookup” claims and to explain why she’s actually been making an effort with Jax amid their divorce.
“Let me make this clear I was trying to see if we can be friends for our son and obviously we CAN’T 🥱🤥🙄🙄,” Brittany commented on a clip from Jax’s interview that was posted by Bravo.
Brittany went on to insist in the comments that she and Jax “did NOT hookup,” before agreeing with one fan’s theory that she’s only invited Jax to hang out so that Cruz would be able to see his dad.
“Jax is the dad who ‘babysits’ his child,” the comment read. “Do you want to come over and hang out/eat dinner? Translation: It would be good for our child to see you today would you like to eat while you’re here?”
“Thank you,” Brittany replied to the comment.
Jax has yet to respond to Brittany’s comments denying their post-split hookup(s). Meanwhile, Brittany hinted Thursday on social media that she’ll be addressing Jax’s latest claims on the next solo episode of her (and Jax’s) podcast, When Reality Hits.
