The Robertson family is returning to TV for a Duck Dynasty reboot that Willie Robertson, one of the stars of the former A&E series, is describing as “the next generation of ‘Duck Dynasty.’”
According to TV Insider, Willie confirmed the reboot news during a recent episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, telling the host that he and his family are “getting back in production.”
As fans may remember, ‘Duck Dynasty’ premiered on A&E in 2012, introducing viewers to the Robertson family and their business, Duck Commander. The series ended in 2017 after 11 seasons.
When discussing the premise for the ‘Duck Dynasty’ reboot last week, Willie noted that his kids are older now and “a lot has happened” since the show ended in 2017.
“ … The cast has grown up, and then everybody else is still around,” he said. “So, back with A&E, we met and they said, ‘Hey, you guys interested in kind of redoing the show?’ And [we] felt like the time was right … met with the family, prayed about it, and said, ‘Yeah, I think so.’
“The kids were excited,” Willie added.
When reflecting on the 11-season run ‘Duck Dynasty’ had, Willie noted that it was “a lot” of work, but meeting fans throughout the years has made the time they put into the show worth it.
“When you talk to people and they tell you, like, how much that meant to them … I can’t tell you how many people [who are] just like, ‘It was what my dad and I watched together,’ or ‘My mom passed away and it was the only thing we could laugh at together and we watched as a family,’” he said, adding that fans also share with him how much they enjoyed watching his family interact with each other on the show without being “a train wreck.”
“It’s really inspiring,” Willie said. “ … It’s good to make something, especially when it came out originally, you know, it was pretty much a little bright light amongst some dark stuff out there.”
While ‘Duck Dynasty’ was a ratings success that spawned several spin-offs, the Robertson family found themselves in hot water a number of times throughout the show’s original run, largely due to their religious views.
As The Ashley previously reported, series star Phil Robertson caused the first big ‘Duck Dynasty’ scandal in 2014 when he made racist and homophobic comments in an interview with GQ Magazine. After Phil compared homosexuality to bestiality and made comments claiming that African-Americans were happier during the days of slavery, A&E suspended Phil indefinitely from the show; however, his suspension ultimately lasted just nine days.
Willie didn’t reveal who is set to appear in the upcoming series, though he reportedly suggested that his family– which includes wife Korie and the couple’s six children– will be the focus.

I’m glad it’s coming back. It was a goofy but wholesome show.
