Mama June Shannon Reveals the “Crazy” Ways Her Family Keeps Daughter Anna Cardwell’s Memory Alive, Nearly One Year After Her Death

As the one-year anniversary of her daughter Anna Cardwell’s death approaches, Mama June Shannon and family continue to grieve while keeping the memory of Anna alive.

The Mama June: Family Crisis star took to Facebook this week telling fans how much she and her family miss Anna, who died December 9 at the age of 29 following a nearly year-long battle with Stage 4 cancer.

“It will be a year on Monday and we miss the hell out of Anna Marie Cardwell and would give my last penny just to talk to her and her be here for her girls,” June wrote, referring to Anna’s two young daughters, Kaitlyn and Kylee.

(As The Ashley previously reported, June was awarded custody of Kaitlyn in September, following a legal battle with Michael Cardwell, who is Anna’s ex-husband and the father of Anna’s younger daughter Kylee.)

In her post, June opened up about the grieving process, sharing that she’s often hit with waves of “hurt at random times.”

“ … U have no control over crying, being mad or trying like everything is OK when really you are dying inside,” she continued. “ … No one understands… a [loss] of a child is horrible, way different than losing parents, brothers and people that was like parents and amazing grandparents to my children … .”

In her post, June revealed that she and her family continue to text Anna in their family group chat, which she vowed to continue doing, even in the event that Anna’s number is eventually assigned to someone else.

“ … She is still in our family group chat text, she is in [her sister] Lauryn Mychelle Shannon car radio just can’t and won’t delete any text and won’t ever take her out the chat,” June wrote. “So sorry [to] who[ever] gets her number one day. U better not remove yourself.”

June told fans she also rewatches her daughter’s videos on TikTok and even searches Anna’s name on the platform to watch the videos made by fans in Anna’s memory.

In her post, June also mentioned how difficult it is living in the house where Anna died– something she also spoke out about in November. She also revealed that she and her family take Anna’s ashes with them when they leave the house.

“ … Living in a house Anna passed in is so hard, not just on me but the whole family, but we have to keep our promise, we take her everywhere with us like she wanted and I will continue to do so … ,” June wrote. “So I just say, ‘Come on, Anna, get your a** in the [car], we are going and u r going too.’

“I know some people may think that is crazy but for me and the family we love to have [her] with us,” June continued. “We definitely have [kept] her memory alive and will always … .”

Why not just keep paying Anna’s cell phone bill to keep her number and then hand it down to Kaitlyn is a few years?

  2. I truly want to feel sorry for June but then I remember how she chose Anna’s abuser (who was convicted for abusing her, mind you) over her own daughter and I just want to say “f*ck you June”

  3. My heart breaks for Anna’s girls, but June needs to shut the hell up. She did Anna wrong from the get-go and only ever wanted something to do with her when money was involved. June is and always has been a sorry excuse for a mother.

On an unrelated note, “Lauryn Mychelle.” The Y in Lauren is fairly common, but also putting a Y in Michelle? WTF for?
