Lifetime Announces New Series ‘The 6000 Lb. Diaries with Dr. Now’ Premiering in January: Watch a Sneak Peek

Dr. “No Filter” Now is back!

Dr. Nowzaradan– aka Dr. Now– is heading to Lifetime with the new series The 6000 Lb. Diaries with Dr. Now, which will follow a group of morbidly obese individuals who are ready to lose weight and change their lives.

As fans know, Dr. Now is a medical doctor who specializes in bariatric surgery and has appeared on TLC’s My 600 Lb. Life since 2012. The series– which has faced multiple lawsuits and seen the death of 14 former cast members– returned in March for Season 12.

According to Lifetime, Dr. Now’s new series, ‘The 6000 Lb. Diaries,’ will follow “ten morbidly obese individuals as they fight for a chance to live the life they have always wanted, both for themselves and for their loved ones.”

“Reaching a combined weight of more than 6,000 pounds, and at an extreme breaking point, these individuals are turning to weight loss authority Dr. Now and his team of specialists to get life-changing bariatric surgery and acquire the tools they need to deal with emotional eating,” the show synopsis continues.

Season 1 of ‘The 6000 Lb. Diaries’ will consist of 10 episodes, each highlighting a different person’s weight loss journey, complete with intimate diary cams and confessionals. Viewers get a first look at some of those weight loss journeys in Entertainment Tonight’s preview of the upcoming series.

“I can’t believe I’m showing this,” one of Dr. Now’s patients says before revealing a table full of food, which they proceed to consume alone. “I am doing what I do when I can’t cope.”

Another individual tells viewers that, after struggling with weight their entire life, they are “tired of being trapped in this body.”

The preview also shows Dr. Now giving his patients the same tough love that fans of ‘My 600 Lb. Life’ have watched him deliver for years on TLC.

“The scale doesn’t lie,” he tells one individual. “If you want to live, you have to do your part.”

The clip goes on to show Dr. Now pairing his patients with therapists and nutritionists in an effort to aid in their respective weight loss journeys.

Dr. Now took to social media this week to talk about ‘The 6000 Lb. Diaries,’ promising fans they will find the new series “exciting and very interesting.”

“You will enjoy it,” Dr. Now insisted.

In next month’s two-hour series premiere, viewers will meet Chelsey, a 25-year-old who has battled weight issues her whole life. After “avoiding Dr. Now’s program” for more than a decade, Chelsey is finally ready to leave her unhealthy home and see the world. Before doing so, however, she must “prove that she’s ready to commit to the steps that will transform her future.”

  1. This might be a better format for this concept. Sometimes those episodes drag and then they rely on awkward moments and up close eating. It will also be better than 10 minutes of placards and voicemails when someone inevitably drops out and stops showing up. Like teen mom!
