“1000-Lb. Sisters” Star Amy Slaton Pleads Guilty to Simple Possession & Avoids Jail Time Following September Zoo Arrest

“This calls for a dang celebration, y’all!”

Amy Slaton won’t be spending the holidays in the slammer after entering a guilty plea for two counts of simple possession following her September arrest at a Tennessee zoo, The Sun reports.

As you may recall, the 1000-Lb. Sisters star was arrested in September for illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI narcotics, as well as two counts of child endangerment. In a story that seems almost too unbelievable to be true (but is), Amy– along with her boyfriend Brian Lovvorn– ended up in the slammer in September after cops were called to the Tennessee Safari Park to investigate a guest with an alleged camel bite, who turned out to be Amy.

Upon their arrival, deputies were reportedly “immediately overtaken by suspicious odors” coming from the car that Amy, Brian and Amy’s two kids were in. According to TMZ, psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana were found in the car, causing police to take both adults into custody. Amy and Brian were later released from the Crockett County Jail on $10,000 bond each.

According to The Sun, Amy entered a guilty plea at a Crockett County Court in Tennessee this week. As part of the plea deal, Amy received a suspended jail sentence of 11 months and 29 days. During her nearly one-year of supervised probation, the TLC star will be required to complete an alcohol and drug assessment as well as parenting classes.

Additionally, Amy has been ordered to pay a $500 fine and court costs and she is to have no contact with the zoo where the crime took place.

The two counts of child endangerment– which Amy initially pleaded not guilty to– have been dismissed.

While Amy and Brian won’t be having any wild family outings at the Tennessee Safari Park for a while, the couple’s relationship is seemingly going strong.

In late November, Amy shared photos of her sons Glenn and Gage– whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Halterman– visiting Santa Claus. One of the photos in Amy’s post included Brian, who was sporting matching Christmas pajamas with Glenn and Gage.

  1. Why aren’t either kid wearing shoes when they are out in the cold??

With Michael and Amys brain cells those kids havent a chance anyways but at least dress them so they are warm for gods sake.

  2. I absolutely hate that child endangerment and neglect charges are dropped so frequently. In most cases, minus arrests involving direct physical abuse, these charges are the first to be dropped. Her lowered sentence is proof positive that the child endangerment charges would’ve, at the very least, lessened the possessions charges. Child endangerment, neglect and abuse charges should *always* be a felony, everywhere, full stop.

If they honestly think a year of probation and a few parenting classes (because at most. she’ll have 4-6 classes and then be done) are going to prevent these dipshits from going right back to what they already were, they’re nuts. Odds are really good her drug testing will be scheduled, assuming they do it at all.

We’re not talking about a tiny bit of pot being present in the car ffs. If they’re dumb enough to smoke and do shrooms with kids in the car WHILE AT A FUCKING ZOO, they are dumb enough to do it anywhere, anytime, with no thought of consequence.

I shouldn’t comment on articles that involve child endangerment, abuse or neglect, it just boils my damn blood. The world is so fucking ass backwards when it comes to these things (yes, the WHOLE world is).

  3. Seriously??? As crazy as this person is she gets a slap on the hand….that’s crazy! There’s more than enough proof she’s crazy and she’s a pathetic mom. Oh well she will screw up again and then she will lose those boys. It’s so funny to see a loser like her try to give advise on her show. I actually stopped watching it bc it’s so dysfunctional and clearly trash. I ONLY watched it to see Tammy’s progression on her weight loss. She’s done very well and seems to be getting her attitude in check also. Clearly peace happens when you choose to take care of yourself. She needs to turn her back on Amy or Amy will take her down more.

  4. She was high on shrooms in public with her children and they dropped the child endangerment charges?!? Way to let those babies fall through the cracks! CPS & police are a fucking joke.

    1. Mushrooms are actually Very useful to help mental health. I would agree that it could be child. Neglect If she drove, she doesn’t drive. I use mushrooms quite often. They’re better than alcohol, like.Get more control over yourself than when you have alcohol. Are you going to charge every parent? In the united states, with child neglect for drinking alcohol???

      1. Shrooms are a psychedelic which is probably why she lost it and said the camel fucking bit her when the cameras show that NEVER HAPPENED. And while they CAN be beneficial for mental health, she was at the fucking ZOO with her children. Her AND her spouse were in possession of the shrooms, ONE of them HAD to have been driving. And if the parent is drinking and driving, like these 2 idiots obviously were using and driving, then YES they should be charged.

But, you know, way to stick up for the neglectful parents more concerned about their high than their children.

      2. Unless you’re micro-dosing, and by that I mean REALLY micro, shrooms are not less of an inhibiter than alcohol. While they are, absolutely, helpful (and not just for mental health but even physical health) no one should be dosing them while children are in their care because there are impairments (it’s how they function, without the impairments they would be effectively useless as a treatment, they are an inhibiter after all). Even doctors and researchers who actually study them and their effects will flat out say not to do so if you are responsible for other people. How they affect you can change at the drop of a hat too, it may not remain consistent throughout your use. Micro-dosing has massive amounts of potential, but self-diagnosis and treatment will not garner those kinds of results unless you’re well aware of how they actually function, the risks and strictly abide by some basic rules of thought. Rules such as don’t have kids in your care, don’t drive, don’t go to work impaired, don’t make bold life choices while impaired, don’t fuck around at a zoo, etc..literally, common sense. The same applies for alcohol, other drugs, etc.

I am ALL for utilizing things necessary to help one’s physical or mental health, preferably under the care of someone who knows wtf they are doing, and only when done responsibly. That definitely includes substances like cannabis and shrooms when needed.

Her not driving has absolutely nothing at all to do with it. She was impaired enough for people to notice all over the zoo, she was impaired enough to hurt herself (and that wasn’t a camel bite, btw) to the point cops/ems had to be called, she had the shrooms and pot out where kids could reach them. She wasn’t even remotely micro-dosing or using it therapeutically, come on now, don’t make excuses for child abuse and neglect, wtf.

    2. Police aren’t the reason charges get dropped. It’s the court system that’s completely jacked. I mean, CPS is too, in so many ways, but the system itself needs a complete overhaul. It’s ignorant judges that allow people like them to continue on keeping on….and then they go all pikachu surprised when they see repeat offenders that didn’t listen the first time. (and usually they’ll get the same slap on the wrist over and over and over).

      Maddening ain’t it?

  5. For someone that was always saying she just wanted to be a mom, she totally went off the rails! Hopefully she’s learned her lesson those boys deserve a good childhood.
