Vanderpump Rules isn’t the only thing Lala Kent is leaving behind in 2024, as the mom of two revealed this week that her once close friendship with castmate Katie Maloney remains on the rocks.
As viewers watched on Season 11–- the first full post-Scandoval season of the Bravo series–- Lala’s friendship with Katie (and Ariana Madix) went from bad to worse, with the tension between the former friends rolling over to the Season 11 reunion.
Over the summer, as ‘Vanderpump Rules’ remained on pause, Lala revealed on her Give Them Lala podcast that she and Katie didn’t “have anything in common anymore,” despite being close friends for years. This week, she confirmed that the two remain estranged.
On the December 31 episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast– which was recorded prior to Bravo announcing that ‘Vanderpump Rules’ was getting an entire new cast for Season 12– Lala said she wasn’t worried if the show returned, telling host Amanda Hirsch that she’s currently happy being in her “mommy bubble.”
“ … We left on such a strange note and I think it’s great, even though we are in a weird place, some of us aren’t talking,” she said of the current dynamic among the cast.
Lala went on to discuss the current state of her and Katie’s friendship, telling listeners that Katie “was like my everything.”
“ … Katie and I have two very different viewpoints of what happened and the demise of our friendship,” Lala explained. “She sees it one way and I don’t like that I was painted to be someone who pockets information and brings it out at a convenient time, because that’s not what happened.”
Lala, who was referring to the disagreement she and Katie had during the Season 11 Reunion, said that she and Katie can “go over this all the live long day,” but in the end, “what’s done is done.”
While Lala said that neither she nor Katie have made any effort to reach out to mend their friendship, she hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of the two reconciling at some point.
“We may be able to rebuild at some point, or we may never see each other again,” Lala said. “Who the f**k knows, right?
“But I do want her to be happy in her life,” she added. “She deserves that.”
Lala, who welcomed her second child in September, had claimed back in August that her and Katie’s friendship was great at one point, but that it had since “ran its course.”
“ … and that’s OK,” she said at the time. “I don’t even know what we would talk about [now]. We’re just in such different places and I think that friendship was meant to be the way it was for the time being.”
Meanwhile, as The Ashley previously told you, Lala revealed on an October episode of SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live that she and Ariana remain on the outs and, according to the former SUR hostess, there have been no attempts by either party to reconcile the friendship.
“That will never happen,” Lala claimed.

I’m so sick of Lala. Just admit it: you backed the wrong horse. Production did too, it’s fine, it happens. But she continues to double down on things like Ariana living with Tom when she knows damn well that there is a huge difference between her living with Rand vs Ariana living with Tom: Lala didn’t own ANY of that house. Of course she left; Rand probably would have kicked her out had she not. But Ariana owned as much of that house as Tom did. I wouldn’t leave either. He cheated, HE can leave.
How do we never see Lala again?!
Katie is starting to look like Marilyn Dean from the movie the Breakup with Vince Vaughn.
Lala and Arianna were in the same boat. They both were cheating with someone. Arianna was with him to get on the show how many years did we have to hear about her being a lesbian or wanted to drive off a cliff. They all got on the merry go round of cheating with each other. She was the one that didn’t want to get married. She was stupid. But karma’s a bitch. If she was so in love with this guy. Why haven’t they gotten married? I wouldn’t have stayed with Tom for 9 years without something saying we are one.
Tom cheating is because Tom decided to cheat. If he cheated on every girlfriend, maybe HE is the problem, you think?
And what does not being married have to do with anything? Do you honestly think he wouldn’t have cheated if they were married? If anything, her decision to not marry him or have kids with him was completely vindicated. She probably thanks her lucky stars every day.
I started rewatcing VPR over the holidays cause why not… Katie is a hypocrite. Katie said the same things to Stassi AND Ariana that Lala said about filming with Sandoval when Stassi and Ariana didn’t want to film with Jax and Kristen.
Everyone jumped on Stassi when she didn’t want to film with Jax, and when she didn’t want to be around Scheana after the $3x tape fiasco. Tom and Ariana both banned Kristen from going to Hawaii for the joint birthday trip, but Jax agreed to James going for Sandoval’s sake.
Ariana’s attitude and icyness has been a constant subject since she first came on the show. Even in the early seasons when she was fighting with Katie and Scheana in season 4 and was being nasty, that was ok because it was Ariana.
It’s wild to me how Ariana has a different set of rules than anyone else on the show.
I know we only see what they show us as viewers but I certainly never saw Katie as being Lala’s “everything”. Katie and Ariana speak their minds and they will both go toe to toe with Lala and not back down. For whatever reason Lauren from Utah thinks she is a hard gangster and everyone should be intimidated. Which is pretty funny to me. But that is why Lala has gravitated towards Scheana. Scheana has no backbone whatsoever. Scheana will agree with everything that Lala says no matter how ridiculous it is. Scheana acted like she was ride or die for Ariana but then she got jealous of the opportunities that Ariana got. Which solidified the Lala/Scheana relationship. They both were envious. Scheana thought she deserved DWTS I don’t think she does. Lala is upset that when Rand cheated she didn’t get the opportunities that Ariana did. But let’s be real…we watched Tom and Ariana for 10 years. We all felt betrayed by Tom cheating on Ariana with her good friend right under Ariana’s nose. Lala hid Rand like a dirty little secret because he was married when she got with him. The relationship was always uncomfortable to watch because it felt like a Sugar Daddy situation. Let’s not forget that Lala said she “gives BJ’s for PJ’s”. No one cared when Rand cheated on Lala. It was the Karma of it all.
