The trailer for The Challenge All Stars: Rivals dropped this week, giving fans a first look at the 13 pairs of rivals in action as they battle alongside– and in some case against– each other in the hope of taking home the title of Season 5 Champs.
As The Ashley told you last month, for the first time since its 2021 debut, ‘The Challenge All Stars’ will air on MTV instead of the Paramount+ streaming service. As the title suggests, the upcoming season will also see the return of the ‘Rivals’ theme for the first time since 2016.
“ … Thirteen ‘All Star’ pairs of rivals are about to battle it out on MTV,” longtime ‘Challenge’ host TJ Lavin says in the newly released trailer. “Think you can make it work with your worst enemy?
“ … No other season has so much tension,” he continues. “No other season has so much baggage.”
As viewers see in the first look of the upcoming season, the ‘Rivals’ twist comes as a big shock to the Season 5 competitors, many of whom have been feuding with their respective rival for years.
“This is a disaster,” Big T (rival of Corey Lay) says in the trailer, with Shane Landrum (rival of Da’Vonne Rogers) reminding viewers, “It’s ‘Rivals,’ not Allies.”
While the upcoming season will show the pairs of rivals competing together, viewers will also see plenty of rivals going head-to-head amongst each other, including partners Nany González and Turbo Çamkıran, who are shown getting into a heated screaming match in the new trailer.
Fans can also expect some drama between Aneesa Ferreira and rival Ashley Mitchell, with the latter calling the former a “pick-me girl,” due to Aneesa’s abundance of friendships within ‘The Challenge’ house.
“There are people that play a weird game and there are people that just suck,” Aneesa says, presumably about Ashley.
The trailer also shows competitors accusing each other of lying, calling each other stubborn and one competitor– Amber Borzotra (rival of Faysal “Fessy” Shafaat)– calling one of her castmates “the biggest snake in the house.”
While there’s sure to be plenty of drama in the upcoming season, TJ assures viewers that Season 5 will also bring “so much joy.”
“ … the best chance for these ‘All Stars’ to win is to live and die by their rival,” he says at the end of the trailer.
‘The Challenge All Stars: Rivals’ premieres January 29 on MTV.
