‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star James Kennedy Won’t Be Charged for December Domestic Violence Arrest; Ally Lewber Speaks Out For First Time About Incident

“Surprise, surprissssse!”

Trigger Warning: This story contains descriptions of domestic violence.

Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy will not face charges following his December arrest for domestic violence, TMZ reports.

James’ attorney, Scott Leemon, confirmed to the outlet on Wednesday that the Burbank City Attorney’s Office had informed him of its decision following an investigation.

“I want to thank them for conducting a thorough and professional review of the matter involving my client, James Kennedy,” he stated. “Their diligent investigation confirmed what we have maintained from the beginning–there were no grounds for any charges to be filed against Mr. Kennedy.”

As The Ashley previously told you, James was arrested December 10 for domestic violence upon a spouse/cohabitant. According to the arrest log obtained by The Ashley, “Female stated her boyfriend lifted her up and threw her to the ground.”

James’ arrest log…

While James’ girlfriend Ally Lewber was not named as the victim in the incident– nor did she confirm that she was the female referred to in the arrest log– the astrologer went on to release a statement to Instagram shortly after James’ arrest, thanking those who had reached out to check in on her.

“ … I’m okay and taking the time I need right now,” she posted to her Instagram Story December 14. “I deeply appreciate all the kindness and respect for my privacy during this time.”

The day after releasing her statement, Ally was seen moving some items out of the home she and James share and last week, she was photographed moving more of her belongings from the home, suggesting that she and the DJ may have officially called it quits.

After initially keeping a low profile in the days following his arrest, James later posted a statement to social media, vowing to do better and to prioritize his sobriety.

“I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life,” he wrote. “I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones. Navigating challenging moments is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow and move forward with the incredible support system around me.”

James’ statement came just days after his attorney released one on the Bravo star’s behalf, seemingly downplaying the incident.

“We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations levied by the Burbank Police Department against James,” James’ lawyer’s statement read. “We understand that there were no injuries and we are hoping that, after careful review, the city’s attorneys will decide not to file formal charges.”

UPDATE! After news broke that James would not be charged, Ally took to Instagram Stories to speak on the December incident for the first time.

“Thank you all for your support and kindness,” she wrote. “I am happy that prosecutors decided not to file [charges] against James, as I never desired criminal charges.

Ally then went on to describe what happened during the December incident.

“We had an argument outside of his home related to him drinking again,” Ally wrote. “However, I was not physically hurt. I was shocked and disheartened by how the event was portrayed.”

Ally— who, just days ago was photographed moving more of her stuff out of the California home she and James once shared— confirmed that she and the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star have broken up.

“We are no longer together, but I’ll always support James and wish him the best with his sobriety and healing,” she wrote. “Thank you for your understanding.”

As of press time, James has not commented on his breakup with Ally.

  1. He body slammed her on the asphalt according to Ally’s own statement on the police report. Her not being “physically hurt” is a bit confusing. If she was slammed on the ground, she was physically hurt. Maybe she didn’t break a bone or require stitches for a gashed knee for instance but abuse is abuse whether any injury is glaringly present.

James not being prosecuted does not mean that James is innocent. My guess is that Ally was not going to testify against him and as I stated before James’ attorney would probably use that she wasn’t physically assaulted so severely she needed to go to the hospital. Which to me is complete bullshit.

The reason men like James continue to abuse multiple women is because they are never held accountable. It’s never that big of a deal. Nothing that a PR statement of “I’m going to focus on my sobriety” (again) won’t fix. Here is the issue. This won’t stop with Ally. And chances are the next time will be more severe. It’s not ok. And it’s also not ok that the court system gives abusers a slap on the wrist. (Looking at you Nathan)
