As Janelle and Meri Brown continue fighting to get their equal share of profits from the Brown Family’s Coyote Pass property in Flagstaff, Arizona, Janelle admits she was “too trusting” of ex-husband Kody Brown when the family purchased the property years ago. 

As fans of Sister Wives know, the 14-acre property was purchased by Kody and his then-four wives in 2018 for more than $800,000. The family initially planned to split the land into five parcels, where each wife would get her own plot to build a house and Kody would (for some reason) get his own, too. 

Janelle admitted on Sunday’s episode that she was aware that Kody’s name had always been listed on the title for all of the parcels; however, she said it didn’t seem like an issue at the time.

“I saw what was happening, but I trusted it would all work out in the end,” Janelle said.

“And looking back now, I’m like, ‘Wow, I was really dumb,'” Janelle added. “Why did I not insist that we were all titled on all the pieces? I was just too trusting, I guess.”

Janelle admitted that she didn’t know why the parcels were titled the way they were, other than the fact that things were always done in that sort of manner in the past, with Kody being the “unifying factor” in the family. 

Since the family purchased the property in 2018, there have been countless discussions, three divorces and a shift in the parcel division due to Christine Brown handing over her portion of the property to Kody and his only remaining wife Robyn Brown in exchange for the value of her Flagstaff home.

As of now, the dispute over Coyote Pass continues, with Janelle noting on Sunday’s episode that she’s working with an attorney to ensure that she gets what she’s entitled to. 

While gathering documents for her lawyer during the episode to prove that “the bulk” of Coyote Pass was paid for using “joint funds,” Janelle stated that she believes Coyote Pass should be split equally between herself, Meri, Kody and Robyn, despite how the parcels are currently titled. 

“In theory, Kody could do whatever he wanted with the property that he and Robyn are on,” Janelle said to Meri during the episode, referring to Kody and Robyn’s names being on the bulk of the parcels. “It would be really mean, but he could do it. I mean, I hope he hasn’t become that person, but I don’t know who he is anymore. I don’t recognize who this guy is.” 

As The Ashley previously told you, Kody admitted earlier this season that he “thought about screwing” over Janelle amid the Coyote Pass property dispute, but insisted he hadn’t because Robyn wouldn’t allow it. 

“[Janelle] doesn’t trust me because she would screw me if she could,” Kody said. “That’s what I believe. I’ll be honest, I’ve thought about screwing her.

“Ok, so I’m being honest, but I won’t,” Kody continued, before going on to claim that Robyn is the only person preventing him from doing Janelle dirty in the property dispute. “My wife with a conscience won’t let me.” 

Janelle, who has since relocated from Arizona to North Carolina, said on Sunday’s episode that she is just ready to unload the family’s property and move on with her life. 

“I just want this to be done because this is the only thing that still ties me to Kody and Robyn and I’m just ready to close that chapter,” she said.
