From getting some damage control done to getting slammed by a stepdaughter, it’s been a busy week for the stars/former stars of the Teen Mom franchise! In an effort to bring you up-to-date on the latest Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 news, The Ashley brings you the Teen Mom News Pile.
Here are some of the major (and minor but interesting) ‘Teen Mom’-related things that happened over the last week or so…
Catelynn Lowell Makes Attempt to Backtrack on Some of Her Recent Comments About Carly’s Parents
Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra took to social media this week for a bit of damage control following their latest comments about adoption and their biological daughter Carly’s parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis. In one interview done last week to promote the new season of ‘Next Chapter,’ Catelynn stated that she would have picked different parents for Carly if she had it to do over.
As fans know, Catelynn and Tyler have been speaking out against Carly’s parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis, since last year, resulting in the couple blocking the ‘Teen Mom’ stars on social media and ultimately ceasing all contact between them and Carly. Catelynn and Tyler have also been frequently speaking out against adoption itself, claiming they believe they were taken advantage of as teens when they decided to place their child for adoption in 2009.
Catelynn continued this trend in a recent interview with E! News, even admitting that she had regrets about choosing Brandon and Teresa to be Carly’s parents– a statement she insisted this week had been misinterpreted.
“I want to make something very clear,” Catelynn posted to her Instagram Story. “In the interviews I did recently and said ‘I would pick different parents’ I mean I would of picked us!
“I wish that I could have made a different choice and WE could be her parents!” Catelynn continued. “Not that I would of picked a different set of adoptive parents! I should of clarified in the interview I did.”
Unfortunately for Catelynn, her latest “explanation” made no sense, given that in the interview, she stated she would still choose adoption for Carly if she had it to do over. She also gave specific reasons why she would not choose Brandon and Teresa again. Never once in the interview did Catelynn state that she would choose herself and Tyler to parent Carly if she could.
“I definitely would have picked a couple in Michigan,” Catelynn said in the interview. “I would have picked a couple that wanted fully open adoption from the get-go. So, there’s things in my decision that I would have changed.”
As expected, Tyler also took to social media amid the latest wave of criticism, insisting that he and Cate aren’t “bashing” Carly’s parents by sharing the issues they have with their adoption. Instead, he stated that he and Cate are simply expressing “factual truth.”
“ … If people are so uncomfortable with the facts regarding that truth, then they should re-evaluate the morality of that truth, instead of condemning & pointing fingers at the ones who just so happen to be delivering the truth,” he continued. “If you possess critical thinking skills, this should make sense to you.”
Just days before Cate and Tyler posted their respective statements about Carly/adoption, Tyler unleashed an unfiltered stream of consciousness on TikTok Live, during which he accused Brandon and Teresa of not “advocating” for Carly when it comes to the situation with himself and Catelynn. He stated that Brandon and Teresa should have offered an explanation as to why they were ending communication with him and Cate.
“I’m a father of three, I would literally do anything … I’d be the first person to be like, ‘Hey, what you’re doing is hard on my child, please stop,’ or even if it was Carly who wanted the disconnect, [if I were her parent] I would say, ‘Hey, it’s really hard for her, it’s not really good for her right now, let’s take a step back,’” Tyler stated. “Whatever it is, I would never just not explain it, because [by] you not explaining it or communicating it, you’re not advocating for her … .”
Tyler claimed that Brandon and Teresa have “the answer” as to why they do not wish to be in contact with him or Cate– and that they’ve allegedly confirmed to Dawn the adoption counselor that there is a reason– however, they refuse to communicate that information to Cate and Tyler.
“ … they just won’t give it to us, they refused Dawn to let us know that answer,” Tyler said, adding that he finds it “really weird” that Brandon and Teresa won’t allow that information to be shared with him and Cate.
Tyler reiterated that Brandon and Teresa “made an open adoption agreement” with “two minor children,” before pointing out that he and Cate are almost at the age that Brandon and Teresa were when the adoption agreement took place.
“I think to myself, man, if I was in their position and watched the devastation on these two kids and what’s going on, I couldn’t have done it,” Tyler said. “ … Or [I would have at least] gotten down on their level and said, ‘Listen, you don’t have to do this, you can still change your mind,’– anything!”

Jenelle Evans Gets Shaded by Former Stepdaughter Maryssa; Threatens to Take Legal Action Against David (Again)
Jenelle Evans was the victim of some tag-team trolling over the weekend courtesy of her estranged husband David Eason’s teenage daughter and David’s current girlfriend, resulting in the former ‘Teen Mom’ star threatening to take (even more) legal action against David.
David’s daughter, Maryssa Eason, hopped on a TikTok trend over the weekend while throwing some major– (and frankly, majorly well-deserved)– shade at her former stepmom.
“‘You’re so funny,’” Maryssa wrote on the social media platform. “Thank you, I grew up on ‘the land’ with that one chick if [ya know, ya know].”
While Maryssa’s post– which was shared on Reddit— was likely enough to have Jenelle crying her eyes out at the top of her lungs, the fact that David’s girlfriend, Kenleigh Heatwole, went on to repost the social media slam seemed to truly set Jenelle off, as she later threatened David via tweet shortly after.
“I mean if you want to catch another violation charge for 3rd party harassment be my guest David,” Jenelle tweeted and (very) quickly deleted on X.
Jenelle’s blink-and-you-miss-it tweet likely implied that she felt that David— whom is currently legally restricted from harassing Jenelle due to a restraining order she has against him—was using his girlfriend/daughter to harass her online. If she could prove this, then it would, indeed, be a violation of the restraining order she has against David.
This is not the first time Jenelle has taken to social media to threaten legal action against David & Co. As The Ashley told you last month, Jenelle claimed on TikTok Live that, while she hadn’t pressed charges against Kenleigh for allegedly accompanying David during his attempted motorbike heist on The Land in October, Jenelle insisted she “could still press charges on [her], if I choose to.”
“So, if she wants to keep pissin’ me off and keep postin’ subliminal shady posts about me, she can keep goin’ because I will press charges if she doesn’t stop,” Jenelle continued.
(Kenleigh recently shared on her Instagram Story that she had an upcoming court date due to an “idiot”; however, The Ashley can confirm that court date had nothing to do with Jenelle and was—ironically– for a case in which Kenleigh charged a man with trespassing and property damage.)
As of press time, it does not appear that Jenelle has taken any legal action against David for the recent TikTok diss/repost.
Nathan Griffith’s Girlfriend Defends His Problematic Past & Poor Parenting; Nate Denies “Grooming” the 21-Year-Old
Nathan Griffith and his girlfriend continue to ride out the honeymoon phase of their concerning (like, DRAMASTICALLY concerning) relationship. Recently, Nate’s 21-year-old came to the former ‘Teen Mom 2’ dad’s defense after being met with comments from fans criticizing Nate’s problematic past and lack of parenting.
On a recent gym selfie of the PDA-loving pair posted to Instagram by Nate’s girlfriend, someone called out Nathan for putting effort into his fitness routine and current soulmate, while seemingly making zero effort to father his two children.
“Imagine if you made this much effort into seeing your son,” the comment read, referring to Kaiser, the son Nathan shares with ex Janelle Evans.
“Imagine if you put that much effort in your own life as you just did in that comment,” Nathan’s girlfriend replied, to which another person quipped, “Imagine standing up for a deadbeat dad.”
In one of the screenshots posted to Reddit, Nathan’s girlfriend assured critics that she plans to stand up for her man “every time,” insisting that she knows him, unlike the haters who only know Nathan from ‘Teen Mom’– (and, ya know, the lengthy legal rap sheet he’s amassed over the years.) When asked to clarify if she was defending her “swolemate” for abandoning his children or for his history of domestic violence, Nathan’s girlfriend seemingly denied that her man was guilty of either.
“Abandoning his child? Him and I have chose not to speak about that situation for other reasons,” she wrote. “Do you know their mother? It isn’t abandoning. Trust. Violence charges? Seen it, heard it, dropped.”
While Nathan’s gal pal may be willing to overlook her man’s many transgressions (among other blazing red flags), Nathan does, in fact, have a well-documented history of violence, with his most-recent crime occurring less than two years ago. (As The Ashley previously reported, Nathan pleaded guilty in September 2023 to “Attempted Battery by Strangulation for his attack on his sister in July of that year. In February 2023, Nathan was arrested for “Committing Domestic Violence by Strangulation” against a girlfriend; however, those charges were dropped.)
As his girlfriend continued to go to bat for him in the comments, Nathan put down his creatine shake long enough to insert himself into the comment-section conversation, calling his critics “losers” who “buy into the drama and literally get off thinking that your life doesn’t suck as bad.”
“ … Rather you were popular or not growing up, somewhere inside is a little child screaming for attention because you secretly hate yourself and envy other people criticizing them to make yourself feel better,” Nathan wrote.
As for the people accusing Nathan of “grooming” his girlfriend– who, again, is 16 whole years his junior– Nathan called the allegations “comical.”
“Definitely shows how much you don’t know based on a simple minded skepticism viewpoint,” he wrote, after presumably consulting a thesaurus, albeit incorrectly. “21– I love when people say that about her but look at yourself slag. These social media drug addicts really know how to speak intellectually without contradicting themselves. That was sarcasm if you didn’t grasp that last sentence.”

Bristol Palin Reveals She’s Dealing with Facial Paralysis, Possibly Due to Stress
Former ‘Teen Mom: OG’ star Bristol Palin revealed this week that she has been dealing with facial paralysis for more than a week, leaving her unable to move the left side of her face, according to People.
“I woke up nine days ago with a weird sensation in my face,” she shared Wednesday on social media. “My mouth was pulling this way and it just felt a little off. So I went, looked in the mirror. I’m like, ‘Wow. This is looking a little weird.’”
The mom of three continued to document her health scare on social media, later posting a video of her facial paralysis appearing more-severe as the day went on. Bristol explained that she had difficulty blinking one of her eyes at one point, claiming there was “no movement” to the left side of her face.
Bristol said her doctor “ran tests” and performed a “CT scan” to figure out the cause for her facial paralysis; however, “nothing came back in all the results,” so her doctor ended up putting her on steroids and other medications. While her doctor was unable to give her an official diagnosis, Bristol said they believe the issue was brought on by a case of Bell’s Palsy.
On Friday, she provided an update on her situation, while also addressing some of the rumors circulating about why she was experiencing the medical scare.
“This is day eleven,” she said on her Instagram Story. “I think it’s getting better. I have more acupuncture next week, I’m going to try lymphatic massage, doing all the things.
“I’ve seen so much circulation on what’s this is caused by, so many people are trying to blame the Covid vaccine– I never had the Covid vaccine,” she continued. “So many people are also saying it’s caused by Botox and filler– I haven’t have filler in years.”
Bristol went on to reveal that she had lip filler “years ago, but nothing new,” and claims she hasn’t had Botox injections in “a long time,” so she doubts either of those things had caused her facial paralysis. Bristol then noted that Bell’s Palsy can be set off by stress, which she believes to be the case with her situation.
“I’m stressed, I probably don’t sleep that great, so it’s definitely eye-opening for that aspect,” she said. “ … That’s likely what it’s caused by.”
Bristol went on to call the experience “weird,” but something that happens to quite a few people– some of whom have reached out to her after she shared her own experience earlier this week.
“Hopefully it clears up in a couple weeks … ,” Bristol added.

I was disgusted by the vitriol and rage that Cate and Tyler displayed on Teen Mom this week. Their entitlement is way out of line. Here’s a thought…quit talking smack about Carly’s LEGAL parents on social media…and oh BTW, another bit aof advice…quit talkling about Carly on social media. She’s a minor you idiots. I know you two think because you had sex and created Carly that only you two should be the ones to be called Mom and Dad but that’s not how this works…you gave Carly up for adoption and signed the papers that made it legal. The fact the Brandon and Teresa legally adopted her and allowed you two to be a part of her life in a limited capacity was generous of them but you two took it too far…you didn’t want to play by the rules and wanted to go rogue asking for more visits, sending more gifts and then went on social media to whine and complain. If anything you are lucky they didn’t pull the plug on you two a couple of years ago…You have three kids that need your attention and love…Carly is doing just fine but your contsant need to remind her of who her bio parents are is disrespectful to the parents she has had since she was born and have been creating a great life for her ever since. Try shutting your mouths about Brandon and Teresa and Carly on social media and maybe have a little grace and put Carly’s best interests first.not your own. If you two were dealing with another couple who weren’t as nice as Brandon and Teresa they probably would have been served with a restraining order by now.
Tyler and Cate let’s not forget that both of your parents repeatedly told you to not go through with the adoption. They begged you to not go through with it. They told you a child needs their parents love but Tyler, you yourself INSISTED you knew better than your parents and that adoption for Carly was the right way to go. Rewatch the show if you need your memory refreshed. You’re trying to rewrite a history that is immortalized in film. Do you also remember your repeated declarations that you wanted to make B&T (and Carly) proud of you both by going to college and doing something to help others. But then you realized that involved work. The sofa was just to comfortable so you decided to keep the Teen Mom paychecks rolling in by creating a false narrative where you are now the victims and everyone screwed you over. You are creating and manufacturing your own so-called trauma! You thrive on trauma. It’s the only way you know how to live. Bring the victim. Everybody knows why B&T cut you off yet you two don’t??!!
Just watched the preview for tonight’s episode while scrolling FB and B&T literally gave them a reason for cutting communication! Teresa texted Cate and said “the way you’re speaking about us online is hurtful, we will no longer be responding” and then had DAWN contact them to tell them to stop sending gifts because it was too much. That’s literally your answer Ty! That’s why they blocked you! Idiots, I swear.

I can’t with C&T. She said what she said, that she wishes they had picked different adoptive parents who lived in the same state. Most likely so that they could 1) see Carly whenever it was convenient for them and 2) in case the adoptive parents tried to cut contact they could still show up at their home (which, with their current actions seems highly likely). And Ty needs to let it go. B&T owe no explanation and by cutting off contact they ARE advocating for their child.
Maryssa is hilarious and she’s old enough now to call out Jenelle for all the shitty things she did to her during her time on “The Land”. I hope she continues to blast her on SM, I really do.

What was he tricked into? He wanted the adoption and it had nothing to do with Brandon, Theresa, or Dawn. He decided that he didn’t want to raise Carly. That was the right choice, but why pretend now that he was tricked and taken advantage of. He is the one who pushed the issue and pressured Cate into it.
I agree. They are playing the victims. Yes they were kids but they went to the adoption agency. Brandon and Teresa also went through the adoption agency. It’s not like they hit them up on the street and convinced them to give them their baby. They went through the same process that all adoptive parents go through

Can we get a break from C & T? I mean, really? You have been badmouthing her parents for quite some time. The only reason she did this was to get more attention, and it is backfiring on her and T. They have decided to create chaos for the child that they say they love. They say they were not prepared for adoption, yet they had a counselor with them at the time. So I am confused…. Heads up for other teens who want to have sex way too early. And if you choose adoption, I hope they let their child have a good life, then hopefully when that child is older, they can decide if they want a relationship with the Bio parents. Reminder for all the teens who get pregnant, abortion is illegal. You will either have to keep the child or do adoption.
Well apparently, according to their own comments, the NEED to be TOLD to back off for Carly’s sake before the will back off. So they know good patents should/ would tell someone to back off harassing their child but they are not going to back off harassing Carly until they specifically told to. It’s legal where I live. Also in Michigan. People have been having sex as teens for a pretttty long time. I think we need to focus on sex education and birth control. Not scaring them with adoption.

Right. Parents need to have more open discussions with their children also. My mom had me at 16. Her two sisters had kids by 17. With one of them having another just fifteen months later. My mom never talked to me about sex and she also refused to let me get birth control as she said it would “encourage “ sex.

Many things can be true. Cate and Ty probably were taken advantage of. Carly is also allowed to cease contact with them. The whole situation gave me the ick on 16&P and that doesn’t change now. Adoption is not black and white.
I will buy that Catelynn was pressured into adoption and taken advantage of. I do not believe that’s true about Tyler. He wanted adoption. Period. He did not waver in that. He didn’t even really want to see Carly in-person after the adoption. These were things that Catelynn wanted because she truly did struggle with the decision. It was Tyler who pressured her into it.
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t get to have feelings of regret. He definitely does. But, his attempts at rewriting history and acting like he was a victim are bs.

Okay, it’s pretty clear to me that the reason B&T closed the adoption is because it is what Carly wants. Unless C&T were dangerous, I don’t think these parents would refuse to allow their 15 year old child to speak to C&T if she wanted to. Especially considering that, in a few years, Carly will be 18.
If the above is accurate, of course they do not want to tell C&T that. They are protecting their child and allowing her the grace to change her mind. Imagine putting Carly in a position where C&T are told she doesn’t want anything to do with them. Imagine she changes her mind in a few years. Imagine how C&T would react, the social media posts, the public attention that would follow Carly around if it came out that she told B&T she didn’t want contact with C&T.
The fact that C&T cannot see what is so very obvious to me is baffling.
That’s what I was thinking. They are protecting their daughter. And whether Cate & Tyler want to hear it or not, Brandan & Teresa do not owe them any explanation for their decisions when it comes to Carly.
That makes alot of sense. I doubt B&T would even be able to prevent her from talking to them if she wanted to. She is going to be driving a car in the next few months according to my math. I get that she is sheltered and all but she is not living under a rock.
Exactly even if they took away Carly’s ability to communicate if she wanted. She is still a teenager with friends who would be able to get a message if she wanted the contact with c& T. They have never let go of Carly. Their entire lives are centered around Carly, even though they have non-Carly’s.
They need trauma counseling, both of them because they can’t see the detrimental harm they are doing ti Carly and the non-Carly’s.
Trauma, NO, a story line, YES.
I think there is trauma there. I think the fact that the trauma and the adoption is their go-to story line, doesn’t help. It keeps them living in the trauma, it doesn’t allow them to heal.
So it’s actual trauma, that was exploited for a story line, which is how they make their living, so they must keep talking about, thinking about, constantly exploiting and revisiting this trauma…which then compounds the trauma. There is no “time heals all wounds.” It’s constantly been kept fresh in their minds, and they constantly keep it fresh in their minds, because the turmoil and drama that arises from them being traumatized, pays their bills, keeps them employed, feeds their kids, etc.
Teen Mom was the worst thing to happen to their mental health and their relationship with B/T and Carly. MTV exploited both and ruined both. Yet, somehow at the same time, MTV hid their hands by making Cait and Tyler feel like they were “important, high profile celebs” with an “important platform” that they had to use to speak out against adoption/closed adoptions/semi-open adoptions/their particular adoption by constantly “sharing their truth,” “telling their story,” and “giving ‘factual’ updates”—all things that are further driving a wedge between them and B/T and Carly.
Which then makes for good TV. And also will never allow the initial trauma to lessen or heal. It’s only escalating it. They’ve never been THIS anti-adoption, anti-B/T. It’s consistently escalated over the years as they relied more and more on Teen Mom to be their only source of income.
Jenelle really got sick with power after she realized she could use the law against David. Not that she’s actually scared of him, no, but she found out the law will do her petty bidding and she’s nothing but a vengeful bxxxh.
I do feel bad for C&T. You can tell how badly they regret their choice. This is the one time they should have actually listened to Butch and April about something.

C&T have never regretted why they put her up for adoption, but they way they treated adoption has been wrong.
B&T aren’t just babysitting until Carly is 18.
Because of this thought process from C&T their comments and belief is why adoption should be closed. It’s not helping their trauma and they healing to have Carly in their life.
They gave Carly up for adoption for a better life than they could not provide. Just because they managed to get alittle better and get out of the toxic environment alittle bit does not change the fact that they were in it at the time.
They made the right chose as teenagers. But having alittle contact with Carly has warped their memory.
Unless the child being adopted has had a life with their parents (I.e older) all adoption should be closed. It would help with trauma and C&T warped thinking then the child has grown up.

Cate and Tyler need to re- think their argument. They had so much support to KEEP Carly. Their parents thought they were nuts for going the adoption route and wanted them to keep her. No one forced them to go the adoption route. They chose that route, given the limited maturity they had and a huge heart to do the right thing by their child. No one is saying that was a hard choice for those two kids, but that is the one they made. Now they need to accept that and let Carly mature her parents seem to be raising her well. Care and Tyler should be happy they made a choice that was good for their daughter, albeit hard to live with now as an adult.
They were taken advantage of. They disrespected a couple of minors and went against the minor’s parent’s direction to not contact the teen mom. Not only the couple but the agency. There was really no such thing as a closed adoption in the year Carly was born. There was no such thing as the AP’s deciding when to send photos. The internet had been invented why we’re looking at photos in an adoption agency’s office? A semi open adoption is not an adoption where the child knows they are adopted. The people who are lying and taking advantage to make money off of their rants are Tyler and Catelynn. They are mad because they can no longer put information about Carly all over the internet and make money off of her.
Wtf are you talking about? Closed adoptions have existed for decades. Brandon and Theresa agreed to send pictures until Carly was 5 and that’s it. Everything that happened from then on was because they were kind enough to allow it until it became obvious that Catelynn and Tyler had no respect for boundaries whatsoever

In 2009, we were still using MySpace and digital cameras were still mostly separate from phones. I had a Razor phone in 2007 and it took pictures with the same quality as a baked potato. Physical photos were still very common. I do believe Cate and Ty were given a book of adoptive parent profiles to take home and look over. Yeah, the internet had been invented, but it was not as accessible as it is today. We still lived in the real world in 2009. In 2025, damn near everything has been digitized in some way.
As for your comment on semi open adoption, I grew up with a group of kids who were all adopted. There were 7 kids in total, only 2 of them were blood related. They all had different levels of involvement with their respective birth families. But they all knew they were adopted. It’s up to the adoptive parents to decide if / when the adoption is disclosed. There’s nothing that can stop a parent from telling the truth to their child, especially when it comes to things like medical necessity.

Closed adoption has *always* been a thing, since long before even you and I were born. It is literally applicable to *all* adoptions, it’s how adoptions work. They are all considered closed, despite the fact that they all have the potential to come with a myraid of different situationally dependent caveats. I think (hope) what you intended to say is that there is no such thing as an open adoption. There has never been a legal precedent, nor will there ever be one, for a legally binding open adoption. There are all kinds of reasons why that isn’t a thing, can’t be a thing and never will be. I suspect you won’t understand any of them though, so I won’t try (also, most people here already know them, lol).

Cate’s backtracking makes no sense. She very clearly meant different adoptive parents who lived in Michigan and would have kept the adoption open no matter what bs they pulled.
Cate and Tyler need to get it through their heads that Brandon and Theresa do not owe them any explanation. But, they have been told multiple times over the years to respect their privacy and that Carly was struggling. And now Tyler is acting like that is what he needed to be told. All previous attempts to reason with Cate and Tyler have failed miserably. No contact was probably the only option left.
And worse, Tyler is acting like he wasn’t the one pushing for adoption. Brandon and Theresa did not take advantage of him. He didn’t want to raise Carly. That is a fact. It’s insanity for them to continue to rewrite history.

Cate trying to backtrack but actually just digging a deeper hole 😂 we’ve been saying this for years now; they regret the adoption and want to be Carly’s parents. They have no grasp on the fact that Carly is legally NOT their child and they have no rights to her in any way. Cate and Ty were granted access by B&T but they (B&T) had the right to revoke that access at any time. Carly’s parents are not giving C&T consent to continue their access to a child that is not theirs. C&T are not respecting the boundary that was set for a child who, again, is NOT legally theirs. C&T are in their 30s now and have clearly never really unpacked the adoption with a therapist. They need to do better for themselves and the kids they have at home. They’ve had 16yrs and plenty of MTV money to get help processing this but honestly, I think they just like having something to fall back on for a storyline. What good would they be to the ratings if they were “healed”?
