Brittany Cartwright Says Jax Taylor “Didn’t Tell the Whole Truth” About His Decision to Get Sober; Reveals New Details About Fight Before Jax Went to Rehab

“I ain’t fixin’ to let all this dang lyin’ slide, Jax!”

Brittany Cartwright is shedding some light on what really happened between her and ex Jax Taylor that led Jax to seek treatment for his decades-long cocaine addiction.

As The Ashley told you last week, Jax revealed to Alex Baskin– host of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast and executive producer of The Valley– that he’s been struggling with cocaine addiction and “substance issues” since his early twenties. Jax shared on the podcast that he was more than 80 days sober, explaining that he sought help for his addiction issues following an incident when he lost his temper while he and Brittany were driving their three-year-old son Cruz to a doctor’s appointment.

Brittany, however, recently spoke out about Jax’s confession, revealing her ex conveniently left out a lot of details about what actually happened that day.

While Jax claimed last week that this outburst happened after Brittany– who filed for divorce from Jax in August– received a text from another guy, Brittany has since revealed on her When Reality Hits podcast that Jax was actually set off over a conversation about a bar opening.

“Jax did tell some of the story, but he didn’t tell the whole truth,” Brittany told guest Kristen Doute during the podcast episode, noting that the night before this massive argument happened, she knew Jax had been out and “partying.”

“ … Let’s all remind each other that [Jax] had already been in rehab for the first time for the full 30 days and I knew he wasn’t doing better, I felt like I was very vocal about that, that things had not changed … ,” Brittany said, referring to the (nearly) 30 days Jax spent in a treatment facility back in July, where the former Vanderpump Rules star was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.

While Brittany initially supported Jax joining her for Cruz’s appointment, she claimed that Jax began sending her “awful messages” and being rude to her the night before, so she eventually asked that he not come to her house the following morning, insisting she would go to the appointment with Cruz by herself. Brittany said Jax ended up showing up to her house the following morning anyway, where he denied being “hungover” and “coming down” off of drugs, despite showing the “telltale signs.”

“I’m FINE! Everything’s FINE!”

Brittany claimed that she knew it was a mistake for her and Cruz to get in the car with Jax that morning, noting that the situation got much worse when Jax started “coming down” on her about (presumably) “his” bar, Jax’s Studio City. The exes’ arguing then escalated after a guy texted Brittany’s phone, but Brittany claimed Jax was already “at my throat” before ever seeing the text.

“He was already in a horrible mood and already fighting with me and making me cry before that ever even happened,” she said. “Let me make that clear. Before a guy texted my phone, he was already at my throat. He was already making me cry, and I was in the car for at least 30 minutes at that point.

“Let this car ride end before Jax spontaneously combusts all over the dang road.”

“ … We almost pulled over so I could get out and call an Uber and put me and Cruz in the Uber,” she continued, recalling the moment she claimed Jax “[lost] it” in the car after seeing the text on her phone.

According to Brittany, Jax began trying to grab her phone while yelling at her, all while Cruz was in the backseat.

“That alone is horrible … ,” she said. “Then he starts saying the most despicable things you could ever say to your ex. Talking about other girls, talking about how they’re going … I mean, I don’t want to go into too much details … .

“Just imagine the worst things a guy could say about being with other girls in front of the girl that they were married for 10 years to, or in a relationship with for 10 years,” Brittany continued.

“I’m nothing if not consistent…ly awful.”

While Jax claimed last week that seeing Cruz in the car amid this blowup was what convinced him to seek help for a second time, Brittany said that is not true at all. In fact, she claims Jax actually continued to deny his addiction issues that day.

According to Brittany, Jax only agreed to get help once he feared that his job on ‘The Valley’ was at riskafter Brittany reached out to Alex Baskin, as well as her manager, her and Jax’s publicist, and Jax’s older sister to let them know what had taken place that day.

“If I hadn’t called all of those people … if his job wasn’t threatened yet again … he would not have went [to rehab],” Brittany said. “It was a really, really bad situation.”

While she admits she’s skeptical that Jax will maintain his sobriety, Brittany insists that “no one wants Jax to be better more than I do.”

“Time to lock the heck in, Jax…we need a Season 3.”

“I tried and tried and tried for years to help this man get better and for us to be a happy family,” Brittany said. “I was deeply and madly in love with him, there’s no one that can ever deny that, you know? My love was real.”

Jax has yet to comment on Brittany’s latest podcast episode; however, he took to Instagram over the weekend to share that he is currently 100 days sober.

“100 days down and the rest of my life to go,” Jax wrote in the caption of his post.

  1. That’s scary to hear Brittany put herself and Cruz in the car with Jax in that state.

She claims she told him not to come over to drive them to the appointment, and he did anyway. Does Brittany not have a car? Had she been drinking? If the appointment was over 30 minutes away, that’s not going to be a cheap Uber ride.
