Brittany Cartwright Says She Drug-Tests Ex Jax Taylor Weekly; Claims Jax’s “Actions Have Not Changed” Despite Him Being Sober

“And no, Jax, the drug tests won’t be multiple choice.”

Brittany Cartwright revealed this week that she’s holding Jax Taylor accountable amid his sobriety journey by requiring him to take a weekly drug test, though she admits she’s still skeptical that Jax has really changed.

As The Ashley told you last week, Jax– whom Brittany filed for divorce from in August– admitted on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast that he’s been struggling with cocaine addiction and “substance issues” for more than two decades. Jax claimed on the podcast that he is now sober, crediting a second (and shorter) trip to rehab that he made last year.

After Jax came forward about his addiction issues, Brittany shared that she was rooting for Jax, but also skeptical that he would be able to kick his addictions. Brittany explained on her When Reality Hits podcast this week that her skepticism was due to the fact that Jax allegedly “failed drug tests” during both of his trips to “rehab.” She also noted that Jax stayed for (nearly) 30 days the first time, but left after only 17 days the second time he sought treatment.

“ … Failed drug tests at both places, let’s make that clear,” she said. “But still left early [the second time], thought he had had enough. So that’s why I’m very weary of it all.

“Like I said, nobody wants him to be better than I do, but we went through this the first time,” she continued. “Thirty days, he was sober, got right out and started drinking again.”

Both Brittany and Kristen Doute, who was a guest on this week’s podcast episode, agreed that Jax did not spend enough time in the treatment facility during either one of his stints to deem himself “clean.”

“Especially if he’s admitted he’s been addicted to [cocaine] for 20 years,” Brittany said.

In an effort to hold Jax accountable, Brittany revealed this week that she requires Jax to take a drug test every Monday, admitting that her ex’s addiction issues “scare” her.

“Whatever do you mean?!”

“I am drug testing him myself for the safety of my son. I’m going to continue doing that for a while,” she said, adding that she is sad to see that sobriety hasn’t made Jax much different from who he was when he was using.

“It’s just so hard because even if he is sober, his actions have not changed,” Brittany said. “I think that that’s the hardest thing for me.”

Brittany claimed that Jax has admitted to her that he knows “exactly how long it takes” for drugs to get out of his system in order to pass a drug test, which she finds concerning. She and Kristen also discussed the fact that, while Jax is allegedly no longer using cocaine or drinking alcohol, he continues to be “so angry.”

“He’s acting like he can control it, but it’s not even just with me anymore,” Brittany said. “ … I get DMs almost every single week from a different girl sending me disgusting messages that he is sending to them. Who in their right mind would ever wanna see that stuff?”

“Sorry Britt…I love you but I also love messy drama.”

Brittany said that trying to move on from her marriage has been hard enough as it is, but “getting dragged into all these situations” with Jax and other women just makes things worse.

“I don’t want to read this nasty stuff that you’re saying, these threats that you’re saying, these nasty, like, sexual messages,” she said. “Like, how in the world does he think that makes me feel?

“ … As soon as he’s done love-bombing them and he throws them away, they come into my DMs and it’s so crazy,” she added. “ … Like, I get it, but Jax also has to stop doing that, like, you’re 45 years old!”

“Just because you claim to be 30-something on the dating apps, doesn’t make it true, Jax.”

According to Brittany, the “nasty, horrible messages” Jax is sending on social media are just another reason why she “cannot believe anything that he says or does.”

At one point during the podcast episode, Brittany also recalled a conversation that occurred while Jax was “supposedly sober,” before going on to explain that she’s “only saying supposedly” sober, but hopes that Jax “actually is.”

“ … But I’m just saying, everything is not changing,” she said. “And I will support him and be there for him as much as I can, but how much more can a person take?”

Fans can catch up on Jax and Brittany’s marital (and other) issues on Season 2 of ‘The Valley,’ premiering April 15 on Bravo.

  1. She may have the option to request full custody, he has some red flags, the burden shouldn’t be on her for his sobriety, a court might be able to put contingencies to help with his accountability

  2. Everyone kissing his ass on the IG comments. Nice he’s “sober” but he’s still the same DBag he’s always been.

  3. He should also have to have an interlock breathalyzer on his car and/or have to wear one of those alcohol-detecting ankle monitors.
