Dr. Drew Shows Up for Farrah Abraham’s Stand-Up Comedy Debut; Calls Former ‘Teen Mom’ a “Substantial Person”: “She Did a Fantastic Job”

“Just when you thought you couldn’t respect me any less, here we are…”

A new comedy star is on the rise… at least according to Dr. Drew Pinsky, who was in the audience for Farrah Abraham’s first-ever “comedy” set Thursday night at the Spearmint Rhino in Manhattan.

“We are here to support Farrah and she did a fantastic job,” Dr. Drew— who worked with Farrah for years when he hosted the 16 & Pregnant & Teen Mom Reunion shows— told podcaster Domenick Nati. “The whole time I was thinking I remember why I had such affection for Farrah. She is a substantial person and she’s making a go of it. Good for her.”

The set, which The Ashley is in the process of deciphering recapping and will be posting about soon, featured Farrah talking about her life as the mother of a teenager, dating and politics. All the material came from Farrah herself, she told Domenick, despite her earlier promise that comedy legend Howie Mandel would be helping her.

“That was always gonna be a no from me, dawg. I don’t want to be connected to whatever comedy word salad came out of Farrah’s mouth that night.”

“I got no help from other comedians,” Farrah bragged. “I definitely wrote it all out, I have my document if I need to look, but I also want to get present and get lost with my audience and do some crowd work.”

After her “crowd work,” the Backdoor Teen Mom also offered lap dances for $250…as most comedians do…

That combination of prepared material and improvised crowd work succeeded, according to Dr. Drew’s ringing (?) endorsement.

“Whatever she’s doing she should keep doing, I don’t know if that’s comedy or whatever it is, but people like it,” he told Domenick, adding that what Farrah was doing was more “story-telling” than comedy.

“She’s funny, and she has my full support,” Dr. Drew said.

Farrah later took to Instagram to post a screenshot of a congratulatory text message she received from the TV Doc.

Interestingly, though, Dr. Drew wasn’t such a huge fan of Farrah just a few years ago. During a 2021 interview, Dr. Drew stated that Farrah— who had been fired from ‘Teen Mom OG’– was missed, even though she treated him horribly.

“I miss Farrah, I actually do,” he said. “But, make no mistake, at times Farrah was horrible to me, awful. She would come out and do some of the wildest stuff because she was angry… and I noticed, in my last interview with her, she would just stonewall me…really being as obstreperous as possible.”

During an appearance on the Allegedly podcast in July 2016, Dr. Drew was asked which of the franchise’s cast members he’d most like to strangle, and he immediately picked Farrah

“She’s not awful,” Dr. Drew insisted at the time. “She is frustrating… She suffers. Believe me, when people behave like that it is because they are suffering and I feel bad for her a lot. But, she can be very frustrating.”

Farrah was not happy about Dr. Drew’s comment. Later that month, she declared that Dr. Drew should lose his job as host of the Teen Mom Reunion shows, telling the media she would “no longer have [Dr. Drew] around me for my health and safety due to his violent ‘strangle’ actioning [sic].”

“See? This is why I wanted to strangle you!”

She also insisted that Dr. Drew must want to have sex with her, and that he watches her “Backdoor” adult movie on the regular.

Anyway, it appears that Farrah and Dr. Drew are back on good terms, so he may want to block out some dates on his calendar for the upcoming months, as Farrah has promised that her show at the Spearmint Rhino is just the first of many in her new comedy career.

After one set, her comedy career is already flourishing.

“I am doing a comedy tour,” she told Domenick. “I hope we get 200 locations nailed down, and this mama’s working on the road. I can’t wait.”

  1. lol Dr. Drew almost seemed scared in that clip to say “yeah she’s not funny intentionally…but her train wreck story is kind of funny in a dark humor way….”

It’s basically exactly how we used to laugh at Farrah on TM, and after she was kicked off of TM,
