‘Love Is Blind’ Star Mark Cuevas Responds After Allegedly Blindsiding His Wife Aubrey with Public Separation Announcement (Updated)

‘Love Is Blind’ and apparently, so are some separations…

Former Love Is Blind contestant Mark Anthony Cuevas is attempting to set the record straight, days after his wife, Aubrey Rainey, claimed on social media that Mark had blindsided her by publicly announcing that they had separated. Mark posted the breakup statement— which he had signed with both his and Aubrey’s names— only to have Aubrey write that it was “news to me” that they were separating!

Fans of the Netflix reality series may remember Mark from Season 1 of ‘Love Is Blind.’ During the show’s inaugural season, Mark became engaged to contestant Jessica Batten, though the two ultimately went their separate ways after Jessica said “no” at the altar.

“Sounds like I dodged a bullet with Mark!”

According to People, Mark and Aubrey became engaged in November 2020 and tied the knot in September 2022. The couple share two sons, whom they welcomed in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

On Saturday, Mark took to social media with what he claimed to be a joint statement from him and his wife, explaining that after “a lot of thought and conversations,” the two “decided to part ways a few weeks ago.”

“This wasn’t an easy decision, but we both believe it’s the best path forward for our individual growth and for our family,” the statement read. “Our top priority will always be our boys. We’re committed to co-parenting with love, respect, and teamwork so they feel supported and secure every step of the way.

“As we begin this new chapter, we kindly ask for your understanding and privacy, especially for the sake of our children,” the statement continued. “We truly appreciate your support and respect during this time.”

Despite the statement being signed, “with gratitude, Mark & Aubrey,” Aubrey went on to comment on the post, claiming the separation was “news to me.” She reportedly reiterated this in a comment on Mark’s Facebook page– where Mark had also shared the split announcement– encouraging fans to “head to Instagram for the details,” insisting that “this was never a conversation or discussion.”

“ … He got caught out with women and had to cover his tracks to maintain his ‘public image,’” Aubrey alleged. “I had no part in this statement and it’s news to me, as it is to everyone else.”

In response to Aubrey’s claims, Mark told People that his goal was never to “create drama or disrespect anyone,” though he maintained that he and his wife had “faced our share of challenges” and ultimately decided to separate “in hopes of creating a healthier, more peaceful environment for our kids.”

“Right now, my focus is on being a present, loving father and doing what’s best for our boys,” he continued.

Mark also claimed that there was “a lot being said online that simply isn’t true,” and insisted he wouldn’t be engaging “in back-and-forths.”

“But I do hope people can remember there are two sides to every story, and more importantly, two children at the center of this,” he stated. “I’m doing my best to handle it with grace, and I hope others allow space for healing, too.”

Despite Aubrey claiming that she was blindsided by the separation announcement, Mark’s “joint statement” remains posted to his Instagram page as of Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mark has yet to respond to Aubrey claiming that he was “caught out with women” and posted the separation announcement on Saturday in order to “cover his tracks.”

UPDATE! Mark told TMZ on Monday that— despite Aubrey’s claims— there was no infidelity in his and Aubrey’s relationship. He also denied that his wife was blindsided by his announcement of their separation.

According to the former Netflix reality star, he and Aubrey agreed on a custody schedule for their two children prior to the news of their separation going public. As for Aubrey claiming that the announcement was “news to her,” Mark insists that he communicated everything with her beforehand.

“I understand how emotions can shape how things are remembered, but my intention was never to hurt or blindside anyone,” he told the outlet. “I’m not here to argue timelines or opinions. I’m focused on peace, parenting and protecting what matters most. The boys are the most important thing right now.”

Aubrey has not yet publicly addressed her husband’s claims.

Mark also confirmed that he has yet to file for divorce.
