‘Teen Mom’ Star Taylor Selfridge Breaks Silence on Daughter Maya’s Health After Vanishing from Social Media: “16 Days in the Hospital”

Maya and Taylor in 2025…

UPDATE! On Thursday, Taylor posted to Snapchat that Maya has finally been released from the hospital, after spending 18 days there.

Taylor Selfridge has given fans an update on her daughter Maya’s health, weeks after going radio-silent on social media after posting a photo showing Maya in the hospital.

Teen Mom fans have peppered Taylor’s social media accounts over the past few weeks, asking her for an update, and on Tuesday, Taylor resurfaced on Snapchat, letting fans know that Maya— whom she shares with Cory Wharton— has been in the hospital for 16 days. (She remains there as of press time.)

“16 days in the hospital…. this is the longest stay/most stressful one we’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot,” Taylor wrote in the caption of a photo posted to Snapchat that shows her lying in a hospital bed with Maya. “She’s getting much better, hoping to get out of here soon. It’s a long story and I’ll give you guys an update when we get back home.”

As ‘Teen Mom’ fans know, Maya was born with a rare form of heart disease called tricuspid atresia and has already undergone several heart surgeries in her lifetime, with the most recent being an open-heart surgery called the Fontan procedure back in October. Maya spent 13 days in the hospital for that procedure.

“This will be a forever health issue for her, but she should never need another open-heart surgery again and if she does, she will probably be older than me now,” Taylor wrote on Instagram in October after Maya’s surgery. “She is absolutely the strongest person I have ever known. I’ve watched her go through very, very traumatic things over the last 3 years and after all of this it’s not easy road, but at the end of the day, it was all worth it because she’s here.”

Fans became worried after Taylor— who usually posts to her Snapchat multiple times a day— stopped posting or responding on social media after posting the single photo of Maya in the hospital in March. Things became even more worrisome when several spoiler accounts for The Challenge reported on X that Cory— who had been in Thailand filming ‘The Challenge’ Season 42— had left the show and flown home.

Cory’s other baby mama, Cheyenne Floyd (with whom he shares daughter Ryder) stated on social media that she was watching Cory and Taylor’s cat while they were dealing with a personal situation but repeatedly stated she would not be going into detail about what was happening, as it was not her information to reveal.

Anyway, Taylor posted a short video to Snapchat on Tuesday letting fans know that Maya has improved.

“I don’t want to give a full update right now because it’s a lot,” she said, adding that Maya is still currently hospitalized. “And I’d rather get home and be in the clear before I talk about it. It’s been a lot. We all need therapy after this. It’s been bad.

“But she’s doing good. She’s doing so much better, you guys have no clue,” Taylor said of Maya. “We’re hoping to get out of here this week. We’re not sure but hopefully we’ll be able to leave soon.”

@lainee.k22 Replying to @mickieguzman I 100% agree with the comment tagged. Taylor is incredibly strong, and I honestly don’t know how she manages to hold everything together through such difficult times. Continuing to keep Maya, Taylor, Cory, and her sister in your prayers. 🙏💖 #foryoupage❤️❤️ #viral #teenmom #teenmomog #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp ♬ original sound – lainee.k22

Taylor noted that Maya has only been able to leave her hospital room for the past few days.

“And now she’s on room air; she’s not on oxygen now so we’re moving and grooving,” she said. “But I’ll give you guys the full story. It’s much more than you guys even know. Just when we get home and we’re in the clear, in our own home, that’s when I would feel more comfortable talking about it.

Taylor also posted some photos of Maya in the hospital, along with photos of her with her sister Mila (whom Taylor wrote is staying with her parents currently).

She also posted photos to celebrate Ryder, who turned nine years old on Tuesday.

“Missing these 3 together,” Taylor captioned a photo of all three girls on Snapchat.

Cory has not yet posted to social media regarding Maya’s latest health emergency.

  1. Did Maya consent to having her hospital bed pictures plastered on social media?
How is there still no law safe guarding minor children from this blatant violation of privacy!

    1. Look at who is talking, and your mama shoulda cut your finger off and stapled your nasty thin, bitter lipped mouth shut so no one has to listen to your trashy arsed foolishness.

You obviously were raised by trash, if we going after peoples parents, and continue to be trash just like them. At least Cory is a decent person, something you will never be.

  2. Taylor is absolutely amazing, she dealt with so much crap on teen mom, but has shown her true colors being an mother to those little girls. Cory was an absolute fool letting her go

    1. Taylor and Cory are together… if you follow them both on Snapchat you will see this… they broke up for a short time but are back together now (I think they got back together around the time of Maya’s last open heart surgery

  3. Prayers for this beautiful baby girl.. God hold her, give her comfort, hug her Mama & give them strength, special guidance, patience and prayers as well for all the Drs and nurses who help this baby..Amen 💜💕 ..

  4. Bless her heart. It’s heartbreaking when kids get critically sick, have surgeries and repeated hospitalizations. I have always thought that Taylor seems like a good mom. It’s obvious she loves her girls. There is nothing scarier than your child needing to be hospitalized. Sending fellow mom strength to Taylor. It truly exhausts you physically, mentally and emotionally to go through this.
