Mama June Shannon‘s husband Justin Stroud recently revealed the truth about just how young Alana Thompson was when she began living with her boyfriend Dralin Carswell, despite how it was made to appear on the family’s reality show!
Justin was fired up over the weekend as Mama June, Josh and other members of the family ran their mouths about each other on Live. During one clip— which was captured by the Instagram account @accordingtoamber— Justin (accidentally?) blurted out that Alana has been living on her own with her boyfriend Dralin Carswell since the very young age of 15 years old! (Dralin is more than four years older than Alana, meaning he was at least 19 when he was living with a 15-year-old. Their live-in relationship is illegal in the state of Georgia, where they were shacking up together.)
The family had always denied that Alana was living with Dralin while she was a minor, insisting instead that Alana was residing with her older sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and her then-husband Josh Efird. However, Justin exposed the truth while insisting that Josh wasn’t as burdened by Alana in real life as he made it appear to be on the show— because she was already shacking up with her boyfriend by the age of 15!
While June was on TikTok Live over the weekend, Justin became angry started screaming at June about how she and Josh continue to “tell lies” and blame each other for things that have happened. At one point, he brings up the fact that Josh has been disgruntled about the fact that he “had to raise Alana” (while June was out druggin’ with her then-boyfriend Geno Doak).
“Alana left [Josh’s] house when she was 15 years old!” Justin yelled, with June agreeing.
“She lived by herself with Dralin and [his friend] Draco from 15 til now!” Justin yelled, before addressing Josh and the claims he made recently directly.
“So you didn’t have her this whole time to where it made your whole life fall apart! You had her for two years!”
Alana has publicly lived with Dralin since she was 17, when the couple moved to Colorado together in 2023 so Alana could attend nursing school. However, for several years before that, fans had speculated that the underage Alana was allowed to shack up with Dralin, something the family always denied. Instead, it was portrayed on ‘Mama June: Family Crisis’ that Alana lived with Josh and Pumpkin.
(Pumpkin did have sole custody of Alana until she turned 18 and June was paying Pumpkin $800 in child support, despite Alana not living in Pumpkin’s home.)
June & Co. always brushed off comments from fans that speculated that Alana was only “living” with Pumpkin and Josh for the show.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2023, Alana even claimed that she was excited to “begin” living with Dralin when they moved to Colorado.
“Although the couple has been together for almost three years, it will be their first time living together as well, and Alana couldn’t be more excited,” the article stated, with Alana telling the site “I think it’ll be good for us honestly and I mean, I think it will be fun.”
Alana and Dralin have yet to comment on June and Justin spilling the beans about them being live-in lovers since Alana was 15.

I honestly don’t know how Justin tolerates being around these people. Yes, he’s made big mistakes. He has a sordid past, but he does seem to have a decent head on his shoulders and is also seemingly kind. He’s a person who did “bad things” while on drugs. He’s not a straight up “bad person.”
It don’t make josh look bad at all tbh because he was never allowed to make decisions in his own house, it was always pumpkins way or the highway.
So actually it makes June look bad because she chose drugs over her child, causing her child to live with her older sister.
Pumpkin looking bad cause she was the legal guardian of Alana and made all the decisions.
I really don’t understand how this family is even relevant anymore. Alana was cute as a sassy pageant girl for like, a hot second and after that I think any focus on these fools should have ended. I really hope any form of attention from people/TV networks and the act of putting money in this family’s pocket, ends for good. Mama June needs to get a job and stay on track (if she ever was on track) and Alana needs to know what it’s like to be a regular struggling college student. She has come off very entitled and acts like she’s famous when she’s honestly a D- celebrity at best. While I do feel sad for Anna and her passing was super sad- with all the dysfunction, impulsivity and just, mental health issues and addiction struggles, this family needs more counseling than it does attention.
idk why june thinks this only looks bad on josh (which granted it does) but who’s fault was it that your daughter didn’t feel safe to live with you june??? and let’s not forget pumpkin was 17 and josh was 21 when she got pregnant smdh, june just lets these girls get groomed smdh
