‘Teen Mom’ News Pile: Catelynn Lowell’s Brother Nick Welcomes Baby Boy; Briana DeJesus Wants to Move Out of the USA & More

“…in another country!”

From having a baby to having thoughts about leaving the United States, it’s been a busy week for the stars/former stars of the “Teen Mom” franchise! In an effort to bring you up-to-date on the latest “Teen Mom” news, The Ashley brings you the Teen Mom News Pile.

Here are some of the major (and minor but interesting) ‘Teen Mom’-related things that happened over the last week or so…

Catelynn Lowell’s Brother Nick Radtke Gives Update on His Newborn Son, Who Remains in NICU

Cate’s brother Nick on ‘Teen Mom’…

Catelynn Lowell’s 19-year-old brother, Nick Radtke, is sharing a positive update about his newborn son’s health, after revealing earlier this week that the infant “had a rough start to this world.”

As The Ashley told you in January, Nick– who began appearing on ‘Teen Mom’ around the age of three– revealed that he and his girlfriend Emma Smith were expecting a baby boy in June.

While the couple’s son wasn’t due to arrive until June, Nick revealed this week that Maverick Atreaus had arrived April 4 via emergency C-section and had lost a lot of blood after “Emma’s placenta started separating.”

After asking fans for prayers, Nick shared in a separate TikTok that Maverick “had a rough start to the world” and had been “medically deceased for 5 minutes.”

“ … by the grace of God, he’s alive and striving to survive,” Nick wrote. “He was put on blood transfusions a a ventilator. My baby boy is doing wonderful, better than we thought and it’s because of the prayers you guys are sending. Thank you for your love and support.”

Nick– who is the youngest child of Cate’s mom April– went on to post back-to-back positive updates to his Instagram Story on Wednesday and Thursday, telling followers that Maverick “has been DOING PHENOMENAL” and calling his son his “strong boy.”

Fans of ‘Teen Mom’ may remember Nick frequently appearing on the MTV series with his sister– who helped raised him– and her husband, Tyler Baltierra. Unfortunately, the siblings had a big falling out in 2023, at which point Nick’s once-close relationship with Tyler also soured after Nick accused Tyler of fat-shaming Cate and claimed that Tyler was gay (among other things), which Cate and Tyler both went on to deny.

Roll the tape…

Despite Nick’s estrangement from Cate and Tyler, Cate took to social media earlier this week to show some love to her brother and his family following Maverick’s birth.

“Please send healing vibes to my nephew, my brother and Emma,” she posted to her Instagram Story.

At this time, Nick and Catelynn are still not following each other on social media.

Briana DeJesus Says She & Her Family Are Considering Leave the United States

“Peace out Uncle Sam!”

The USA may be down a few DeJesus women in the coming days.

Briana took to Snapchat on Thursday to announce that she and her sister Brittany are considering leave the United States and moving their family to another country.

“Me and my sister, we’ve been talking about what are we going to do with our future. And she really wants to move out of the country,” Briana said. “To be honest, I would be so down to move. I would leave.”

As for what country Bri and Britt are thinking of relocating to, Briana said they’re currently undecided.

Wherever we move, we better make sure it’s legal to swing from kitchen chandeliers!”

“There’s a few places we have in mind and Thailand is one of them,” she said. “It’s very, very easy to live in Thailand as an American.”

(Briana and her daughters visited Thailand in November.)

Or even in Europe, there’s so many places.”

Briana also threw out Spain as a possible place to create a new home for her DeJesus Coven.

“If we really wanted to, we could get our dual citizenship because we’re Puerto Rican,” she said. “My grandmother and my father were born in Puerto Rico. There’s like this visa that we can get for like a dual citizenship for Spain. So we could move there.”

Briana stated that she would have no problem up and leaving Florida, where she currently lives.

“The more me and her talk about it, I’m like, ‘I would get up and move.’ I would put both my houses for rent and just go live somewhere else!” she said, adding that her daughters, Nova and Stella, would also be moving with her.

“Yes the girls will be coming with me and yes, the girls will be fine. I will put them in an international school,” she said, writing in a Q&A later that the girls are “down to move.”

“But I’ll miss my daughter Bella if you move away! Wait, what? Her name is STELLA?!”

“I’ve been thinking about it.”

And, of course, Bri and Britt’s mom Roxanne would also be joining in on the international relocation.

“If we all leave she definitely has to come lol,” Briana commented.

“16 & Pregnant” Season 3 Star Jennifer Del Rio Says She’s Writing A Book to Reveal the “Truth” About Her Experience on the Show

“‘Member me?”

Jennifer Del Rio— who had a very memorable episode of “16 and Pregnant” during the show’s third season— announced this week that she has been working on a book about her life and time on the MTV reality show.

“MTV told you a version of my story 15 years ago,” Jennifer said in a TikTok video posted on Wednesday. “They told you a version that was edited for views and money. Now I’m writing a book, telling you the real version of my story. Not for views, not for money. Just for me, just for that 16-year-old girl you saw 15 years ago.”

As you may remember, Jennifer’s episode of “16 and Pregnant” was memorable for several reasons. She was one of the only girls featured on the show to give birth to twins. (Her sons Noah and Joshua are now 15 years old.) Her episode was also unforgettable due to the tumultuous relationship Jennifer had with her sons’ father, Josh Smith. In one memorable scene, Josh and Jennifer got into a physical fight in which Josh picked Jennifer up by her midsection (despite her just having had a C-section) and left her and their twins on the side of the road. Josh was later arrested.

These days, Jennifer is married to a man named Luis and the mother of four children.

After announcing her book, Jennifer posted another video to TikTok, thanking fans for their support for her book.

“It’s been so therapeutic and healing,” she said of writing her memoir.

Jennifer said that she doesn’t have a release date for her book yet. However, interest in what has become of the girls from “16 and Pregnant” has increased in recent months, especially due to the announcement that a docuseries is coming to HBO Max and ID Channel that will feature many of the girls who appeared on the series (as well as The Ashley!) The episode of Hollywood Demons— entitled “Surviving ’16 and Pregnant'” is set to air on May 18.

  1. Breamna’s appraisal of Spanish immigration law seems a little questionable. Spain is pretty poor as EU nations go, but given the situation in PR, I’d have to think more Puerto Ricans would be taking Spain up on their offer of automatic dual citizenship if such an offer existed.

From what I’ve found online, being a citizen of a Hispanic country (including PR) shortens the time you need in legal residency before you can apply for Spanish citizenship from ten years to two. That’s a significant advantage, but you still need to acquire legal residency by some other legal channel. I don’t know what channels Spain offers, but for most countries the big ones generally involve family ties, skilled work (usually involving a university degree), refugee status, or being independently wealthy.

  2. It amazes me that these people can even walk and talk at the same time without falling over. Bye, Flelisha. Get gone.

  3. Hmm. They want to flee? Even Roxanne who has been a huge maga supporter this entire time? She spent lots of time on sm singing his praises. Don’t like the consequences of your actions? This is what you voted for, you psycho.

On a positive note, I hope that Nick’s little boy continues to get better. That’s so scary & I’m happy to hear he’s doing so well.

  4. Taking young girls to Thailand is a bad idea. Also, if the DeJesus Coven gets into fights in foreign countries, that could land them in jail for a long time – without access to a lawyer. You can’t do that crap in certain countries.

Spain would make more sense, since they already speak Spanish, are eligible for citizenship, and it will be safer for pre-teen and teenage girls.

I’ve been to Thailand. It’s notorious for creepy old men, open s*x trafficking and other filth. I literally saw pr0stitues lining the sides of a walkway and try to solicit men. 90% of the couples I saw were dried up British men in their 60’s and 70’s with 20 something Thai women (or possibly lady boys).

The pollution is also terrible. Not a good place for a family. Also, people with darker complexions are treated terribly in Asia. Some of my black coworkers experienced this.

  5. It’s so hard to have a little one in the NICU. I hope Maverick continues to get stronger every day.

I actually didn’t remember Jennifer at all until I read about the physical fight which I do remember because I wanted to jump through my TV and beat the shit out of Josh. I’m not sure her book will do too well though. I’m not trying to be mean but I don’t think anyone will care 15 years later.

  6. “Please send healing vibes to my nephew, my brother and Emma,” she posted to her Instagram Story.”

What a weird freaking way to write that. “My nephew, my brother” bc she possesses this “my daughter” Carly entitlement. And putting Emma last just rubs me the wrong way, we know she did that on purpose.

  7. I pray nicks baby’s recovery goes smoothly. Not the best age to welcome a baby but I hope they take care of this boy the proper way. Wishing them the best. It must have been hard to go through the delivery and seeing him like that.
